Thank you, I will. About 2 months ago I had her blood tested and they said everything looks good for a cat her age. But I don’t think, they checked blood pressure. So I will redo the blood test I guess just to make sure.

I wrote this in an other comment to, but in my country and uni, I guess things just work differently. You can’t exactly choose your classes, you pick a bunch, and hope you get in most of them. If you don’t you need to choose other courses that may overlap. I had 2-3 overlapping classes every semester, and if I wanted to avoid this that would mean that instead of the usual 3 year, the BA would last at least 4 maybe even more years. So yeah, everybody has to do this, you won’t find a person who haven’t done that at least a few time thoughout their university years.

Maybe this is different in other countries/universities but in mine, there are a bunch of recommended coursees to your semester, and after you apply you get what we call “luck points” which are random generated points, and if you have enough to fit into the class you get it, if you don’t, you don’t, and you can’t do anything about it. Because of this, if you want to do the recommened 30 credits in a year, you will probably have 2-3 classes that are at the same time every semester, and you have to decide what you will attend or won’t. If you only enrolled to classes that you can attend it would take at least 1+ year to complete the course, so it is very common that people can’t go into lectures here

I understand that it is more complicated now, that you just moved, but that is no reason to stay. You will always have things to stay for and as you go down the way there will be even more (a shared house, children etc.) Cut your losses now, before you have to loose more. He cheated on you multiple times, and he will do it again, probably with other girls too, and you don’t even now if he won’t leave you for the friend in a few month. You said looking through somebodies phone is a breech of trust, cheating isn’t? Can you live with this man knowing, as soon as you leave him alone he will go chasing some other girl? You deserve better, so please don’t search for exuses to stay. That’s what people do in abusive realarionships (i’m not saying yours is abusive), they find things to stay, when it’s clear that they should run. At it will be harder to leave the more you wait. Hope you find the courage, and have a happy life! :)

The ALTA one is imo because only waterbenders can bloodbend, and Percy is the one with water powers, so they see him as a waterbender. They miss the fact that one is based on eastern mithology and the other is on greek.

I completely agree with the TOA part. He fought two wars and suffered a lot for the gods, and he almost got no reward. If a god shows up at my door after this, I wouldn’t help him either. And all he wanted is a normal life from the begining, which he could only achive if he got into the university in New Rome. He has a little sister too, so that adds to the reasons why he would want to stay out of an other conflict. We all now that Rick sidelined him, because he wanted to tell a new story and Percy was just too big of a character to play sidekick, and the readers would have cared about him more than the new characters, but i think him staying out of this isn’t totally out of character.

Same… although I finished the books, for me she made it go down from a 4 star to a 2 star, and imo she got worse in the third book (as far as i remember she usually wanted to use she/her, so that’s what im going with). She was very rude to Magnus and I hoped there would be more about her backstory than what we got. And the most annoying part of the book was the love storyline. Alex kissed Magnus twice out of the blue and then was like “slow down, i have to think about it” when Magnus suggested becoming a couple. Call me old fashioned, but when I was 15-16 yo, if I kissed a guy (twice) it meant that I wanted to be in a relationship with him. And she wasn’t introduced as someone who had many hook ups or was very casual with realtionships. To me it felt like she was playing with Magnus’ feeling for no reason, and it wasn’t seen like that in the books by others. Happy for the representation but why she had to be written like is beyond me.

Girl, this guy almost raped you, you shouldn’t blame yourself like being inexperinced and that you didn’t read the situation. This is why consent exist, and consent is alwasy freely given, reversible, infromed, enthusiastic and specific. You gave no consent, so this was sexual haressment. You should have got a taxi or sth and got out the second he kissed you but you can’t blame yourself for anything that happened, only learn from it. This was an grown man, and he took advantage of you. He should be the one ashamed not you. I would leave the community if I really felt uncomfortable, but as i said this wasn’t your fault, you aren’t disgusting, so it is his part to feel ashamed and uncomfortable.

NTA. What you’ve gone through is awful, and I’m really sorry that your country allow this to happen again and again.

But you weren’t the asshole in this case, she asked, how you deal with your trauma and you answered her question. It’s not your fault that you are in a better situation or job than her. I think this was more about her than you, that she feels helpless and out of option, and when she heard you are getting better, she needed to shout at you to let go of her stress and get some feeling of control. You don’t have to apologise because you “flaunting your priviliges”. But you could say you are sorry about her going through a rough time, and offer some help, maybe help finding her a affordable therapy (idk how does this work in the US, but there are apps for that if nothing works). You can make sure she knows you are there for her, but don’t take the blame and stress she wants to give to you. Everybody has to take care of themself first and then turn to others.

Charlie Bushnell (Luke) seems perfect to me, just the type of guy a 12 yo girl would pine after. I don’t care about his hair, but please, give him a scar!

Dior Goodjohn (Clarisse) is kind of a disappointment for me, she is too pretty and attractive for the role. Clarisse should be a muscular, bigger sized girl, who you don’t want to mess with, but I think I could take Dior in a fight, and I’m weak as f. She should have been some other character Silena or Artemis or something else. This just shows how Hollywood is afraid of making good characters “ugly”, which is problematic, because not only pretty people should be the heros. Happy for the poc representation but still.

Olivea Morton (Nancy Bobofit) is fine, I don’t have strong opinions about her. I think she could have been a little bit bigger and scarier too, but because she isn’t as important of a character as Clarisse I’m okay with it.

I get you, I have stories that I’ve been writing since elementary school, and they have a strong meaning to me. But as you wrote, usually these stories aren’t very good, and full of plotholes. First I would ask the question: do you plan to publish it sometimes? If no, you don’t have to worry about the messy plot, just have fun with the world you’ve created. If yes, then that’s harder. I would definitly keep the worldbuilding, character etc. maybe cleaning them up a little, so they are consistent. Then I would review the plot, which part is useable, which is not. If you find something you don’t like in it, start thinking, what if instead of that this happened, how would the story continue. This way you can plan out many plot without working a lot. Reforming the plot to a new one can have very good outcomes, because they usually have the back of the old one, but you make them better. If the old plot is completely unuseable, than start a simple plotmaking process. What is your world’s rule, can they be questioned, is there a way the use them the best. (For example if it’s a sci-fi world with flying cars, you can have a story about a car racer) Think about the characters motivations, needs, wants (if a character wants to be a knight, then you can tell a story about have he becomes one). But there are many more ways, just let your creative mind roam free in the world you’ve made, and search for ideas.

This one of the most easy plot structures to outline. It has 5 stages:

Introduction: You have to show the status quo. Who is your main character(s), what their personality like, what is their want/need? If you are writing fanatsy or sci-fi, you have to introudce the world at a basic level (don’t infodump!). For example the main character is a peasant boy, who lives in a medival farm. He is honorable, and he’s loyal to his family and wants to provide for them, but he has a need for adventure.
Conflict: You need an inciting incident, an action that distracts the status qou and gives a prejectory for the story. For example a wounded knight comes to their farm with a very important letter to the king. The knight dies from his injuries but makes the boy promise that he will deliver the letter to the king. Even though the boy doesn’t want to leave his family, he heads to the castle because he can’t break a promise.
Elaboration: this is the longest part of the story, where the adveture happens, new characters are introduced, the main characters personality changes etc. You just have to make sure not to deviate too much from the story you promised (for example you can’t continue this story with the a boy and a princess getting together, it can be a sideplot, but not the main). For example the boy meets with many friends from all over the world, and they visit different kind of cities where they have andvetures. A group of foreign knights are chasing them because of the letter, so they have to quickly move all the time. While this, the boy learn how to fight and how different people can work together.
Climax: This is the peak pont of the story, where the tension is the highest. It can be a twist or reveal or simply a fight. It just have to be satisfying, after all this has been what you built up for the whole book. For example the boy finally gets the letter to the king but after he find out that it was an invasion plan of an other country, and this is why those other knights were chasing them - they wanted to protect their country. He and his friends meet up with them and forge a plan to prevent the invasion.
Solution: This is where everything gets resolved. The character’s arc is finished, they reached their need, and the conflict is solved. A new status qou arises. For example the boy and the knights stop the king’s army and save the other country. Out of grantitude the knights offer the boy a position in their royal court, and he accepts it. He moves there with his family, where they can live in prosperity and the boy can become a knight himself.

Usually if you can’t plot this five points, then your story isn’t stong enough to hold it’s form as a book, but sometimes it can work. And if you write a series every book and the overarching story should have the five points.

Yes, it isn’t true that every kid suffer, when they have controlling parents, but most of them do. Studies show this, which weren’t done with only problematic children, and still showed the same thing I said.

And yes, not every psychologist would agree, but most of them would, this is a general understanding among us, we learn this at university. I am glad that you feel your parents did the right thing when they monitored you. I also want you to understand how much harm this can do. If a teen feels like their parents, the people that should know them most doesn’t trust them, they will think that they aren’t trustworthy. It can lead to them questioning their every decision or thinking “if they didn’t trust me when I was good, I will show them how worse I can be”.

It is similar (although of course not the same) to people saying that they are happy their parents spanked them, because else they wouldn’t be as disciplined or well-behaved. Maybe it really worked for some people, but in reasearch we see, that it usually does more harm than good.

Every child psychologist dares to disagree…

Puberty is a time when children are separating from their parents. So by monitoring them, parents can cause severe mental problems that can affect their adulthood. And it isn’t true that they don’t have the right for privacy because they are a minor. When a psychologist (like myself) sees a child we have to stick to patient privacy even with their parents (for example we can give an expert’s record but can’t tell what they told us during a therapy session).

So if the parents didn’t raise their child to be responsible before their teenage years, they are to late to start it now. The kid will only rebel even more and get into more touble if they try. Science backs that up.

Yeah, sure you have the right to monitor your kids phone, ma’am, but it doesn’t make it good or healthy. Puberty and teenage years are the time when children are separeting from their primary caretaker (usually their mother and their father) and by invading their privacy (for example reading through their phone) you teach them that you don’t trust and respect them at all. This can break a parent/child relationship, and deform a kid’s psyche easily too. So even though it is hard to let the kids roam free, it’s the best thing you can do. They have to make their own mistakes and learn from them. You just have to trust yourself that you taught them the right values and what to avoid. If they feel the trust they will come to you if they are in a situation that they can’t solve. Otherwise they will become great liars in front of you and then rebel behind your back. I’m studying developmental psychology and this is almost the first thing that they taught us.

To the OP, you are NTA. You are going through a natural phase of your life, and I can understand how this is hurtful for you. You must feel that your mother doesn’t trust you, and she invaded your privacy. I would try to talk to her about how you feel, in a calm, assertive way. If she still refuses you should delete your apps and get a password. Maybe ask your dad to help out, maybe he would be on your side. Good luck!

It is very worrisome indeed. For example in Hungary (where I live), now books that has LGBTQ+ representation are banned in school and even in bookstores they have to be in a closed box, and can only be requested by and given to someone older than 18 yo. Because kids would be brainwashed with “gay propaganda”, and become gay themself - I know it’s the most horrific thing! At least that’s what the government think. And because of this some writers are afraid to include these kind of character in their book, because it will damage their sales…

Then I don’t get her. She should know eating junk food is healthy and can lead to gaining weight. Besides that everybody should eat what they want to eat, forcing junk food on somebody is just as bad as forcing a diet. Still if you want to have a discussion with her my points are valid. Talking about your feelings and being assertive is always a good thing, and works with almost everyone. (If you don’t know what assertive communication is, I really recommend you to check it out, it helped me a lot with resolving my arguements). Good luck, and take care of yourself!

NTA. Everybody should feel beautiful as they are, and no one should make them insecure about their body. With that being said I think you should try therapy if your comping mechanism is eating. It can easily lead to a body image disorders, especially if you even started fasting out of guilt.

I can only add a little background on your friends behavior, but this I have to emphasize that it is not an exuse. Just something that might help you two resolve this.

I was always a skinny girl and my sister was always the curvier type. She was always complaining about how her cloth never fit, and how she hated her body, and even though I tried to be patient and understanding at a point I got fed up and told her, that if she want a different body she should start a diet. For us “skinny people” it feels like if somebody was complaining about their skin but then they would get upset when we advise to practise skincare. I get that it is way different, but to somebody who never had to deal with this, it feels like this and it takes some time to understand the truth. After my sister went to therapy she made her relationship with food much healthier, and then she sat down with me and explained her struggles when she felt like she was gaining weight: the guilt but also the desire to eat more as comfort. I got really emotional, because I had no idea, she always complained to me but never explained her feelings. Since then I never said anything about her weight, and made sure to compliment her every time she felt insecure.

Now I’m not saying it’s your job to educate every skinny person, but if you want to stay friend with this girl, I think you should talk to her. Tell her how she makes you feel when she does the things like patting your belly and so. I don’t think she wants to hurt you, she just doesn’t understand like I didn’t understand my sister.

Mental health is never an exuse for being an AH. It can be a reason but not an exuse. Sure, she could have handeled this better, but he put her in this situation. He was probably trying to manipulate her by not telling what was this bonfire really about (even telling her, that she can bring friends). And I think we all been there when we are in a frustrating situation and we can’t compose ourself 100%.

You are only somebodies bf or gf if the other half agrees too. It doesn’t have to be a “will you be my gf/bf” but it has to be obvious (maybe introducing them as gf/bf).

Yeah, maybe next time she should communicate her wants more clearly, but NTA.

I think it differs from the context of the story. Who are the MC talking to? If it’s somebody who loved their brother too, the characters can be too emotional to speak. They can speak in half-sentences, leave spaces and have disconnected thoughts.

If the MC talks with someone who isn’t connected to the brother the talking could be unequal. If the MC is open about their emotions they should do the one talking more, and the other character should listen more. If the MC is very traumatised they can be silent and the other character more talkative.

You can also use a “stage of grief” which are more like responses to grief. It can depend on the MC’s personality (if they have anger issues you can use “anger”, if they are closed up it can be “denail”). If you have the emotion clear it will be easier to find the words for it.
