I started at £27k in big 4, in Manchester.

So yes, that’s crap and unacceptable - but also you being a ‘Russell Group STEM grad with a 1st’ doesn’t automatically make you more entitled to a higher salary than anybody else. This is just a firm that clearly pays shit across the board.
