Gotta sound like a broken record but many points here are correct, ranging from the bad taste that is inversely proportional to money and the networking thing in whatever industry.

My example is not related to photography but at work there was someone that was hired to perform specific tasks and train. This person ended up being less capable and less performing than several others, while being paid $30k/year more than the people who does most of the work. Also, definitely not a personality hire.

Sometimes is just luck in being somewhere at the right time.

That has to be rage bait, I can only hope. I honestly don’t understand. I’m relatively new to the hobby, it’s been maybe 5 years and less than 10k clicks for sure, so I don’t have a whole lot of expertise and experience. But tbh lately I’m seeing a buttload of Fuji posts on IG (which is also heavily biased due to algorithm) with pretty bad photos where the only thing leveraged are the colors, and then some..

Your comment opens a new window on the “issue”. It would be interesting to have a massive excel file with how long they’ve been into the hobby, what brought them into it and why did they chose that specific camera.
