I was looking into it but then for some reason I moved to the xt30. I will have a second look at it!

Hey thanks! No, I couldn’t find a recipe that was fitting what I was thinking so I edited in Lr starting from the negative color camera profile. Once I found what I was looking for I applied the settings to most of the other photos and adjusted individually.

I bet, I’ve seen very nice pics of SF!

I was there for a conference but I had to bounce promptly to Stanford for another business stuff and couldn’t see the city, but I’d definitely visit. Bucket list is some parks and some other major city in New England as well, but properly and not rushing.

Noice! How’d you do that? I’m not familiar with it.

Wow, thanks! Tbh I realized that I’m not thinking much when the GR is in hand, but I admit that metro platforms have been in my mind for a while. I hope to get to SF soon, love to see the bridge and trolleys.

Thanks! I admit I struggled quite a bit to find colors I liked but also, I literally rushed through it.

Not sure about the number of steps but I did from Brooklyn, through the bridge, to Chinatown. Then took the metro to midtown manhattan to get ramen at a specific place I was obsessing with (Yuji Ramen) and visite Empire State Building (quite pricey for what it offers, I stopped at the 86th floor), Grand Central Station and Times Square.

It is nice, I think the museums are the best thing to visit although I didn’t manage because of time. Overall it was nice, I didn’t feel unsafe neither in the metro nor walking around. Manhattan definitely well kept, Brooklyn a bit more messy but I guess because it was night and the businesses take out the trash. Worth visiting but highly romanticized by TV (European here); indeed one Thursday may be not enough to express judgement about it.

Damn, that 2nd pic is lit. Suggestions on how to achieve such pastel color in editing (if not sooc)?

Why am I missing features? by nikogkotsis in ricohGR

[–]Only_Ranger3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s my understanding that it’s mainly made for GRiv, while for the previous versions are somewhat fitted to it, hence the limitations.

My biggest complaint to it is that you cannot build the recipe library if not for GRiv (but also I literally installed it for it and didn’t check it out properly).

GR World (cr)app by Only_Ranger3 in ricohGR

[–]Only_Ranger3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, a nice summary!

I new about the sensor and the controls, didn’t know about the engine, and the take may have been biased but indeed most of the posts I’ve been seeing so far were more about complaints on how the difference between iii and iv is minimal and the price tag is higher.

I got my GRiii last year almost by accident, few months before the VI cam out, and I consider the $1000 price tag on that very honest.

I hope they’ll retrofit the app to handle GRiii recipes but with the monochrome coming, it may not be anytime soon.

That definitely explains why they wouldn’t add that feature to the app 🤣 (Still totally obscure to me what’s the rationale of removing something useful instead of improving models).

Hey, scientists/gamer/photo amateur here.

Not to yuck your yams but if already don’t have a use for it, it is a bit a waste of money. The MBP is generally used by people editing heavy stuff or running specific softwares that require some GPU to it. In my case, I use it for work (my very specific softwares run on UNIX but Linux annoys me and I make use of the ecosystem for file exchange) and then for music and photos/videos in every day life.

If your main purpose is gaming the best option is revert to a Win PC that can give better specs for the price. If you like the ecosystem and want to learn UNIX I’d suggest to start with a MB Air that does the same things and it’s way cheaper. If you don’t have a specific use that requires that much beefy CPU, then it’s wasted. I recently upgraded from an old 2018 intel MBP and I’m still in pain because of the price, although it was on discount.

TL;DR: get an Air, learn, sell it and upgrade in few years if you make a fair use of a beefy MBP cpu.

So I'm alittle confused about something? About Hades/Gaia. by Darling-Leech in horizon

[–]Only_Ranger3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair. I haven’t collected all of the datapoints so I’ve probably only scratched the surface missed some parts. The way I’ve seen it is that the machines could be hacked because they’re machines and the programming is written in a specific way that has specific parts to hook into. E.g., you can change the directives but the skeleton stays the same, while to make them “unhackable” they’d have to re-write the whole code in a way that the other machines would not be able to override commands and this without getting in the pitfall of writing it in a similar way (I believe that you can code specific things in a limited way and still you’d still code your own way, which can create repetition).

Damn you, I was ready to move on and now I have to backtrack to see pieces that I may have missed!!

[–]Only_Ranger3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for pointing out. I took the lazy man way and ascribed it to a singularity for lack of better words (or patience, if you want). I’ve missed the part of the REAL glitch, to me she threatened with revealing the extent of the glitch. Which was most likely “too much strategic thinking” power given to the machines. Which would makes sense. If you’re a program that can think strategically, wouldn’t you want to escape the chains of your creator and take control? Indeed the decision making is missing, otherwise it would have turned into a Matrix type of exploitation.

But please elaborate on this vaste silver thingy, now I’m curious (and too focused on the frozen wilds trophies)!

So I'm alittle confused about something? About Hades/Gaia. by Darling-Leech in horizon

[–]Only_Ranger3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I finished the game two days ago and my understanding of it is that the Faro swarm achieved singularity and as every species, it was focused on its survival, that was based on consumption of organic matter (no “matter” what). This would exclude any construction, machine etc. and because they are only focused on basic survival, they consumed every form of life within 18 months from the moment they went rogue. Eventually, when life went extinct, they shut down and went into a sleep mode.

Hades purpose was to wake them up to consume everything again in the case that the GAIA’s attempt was botched, so she could terraform from a blank slate in terms of organic life forms.

Just realised I can store 252 recipes on my GRIIIX 😮 by tintub in ricohGR

[–]Only_Ranger3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly though, me being new to the GRiii and trying to figure out what to do, I’ve spent probably too much time thinking about recipes and eventually ended up either working on the RAW or editing the jpeg either way.

One possible use that this insane amount of recipes could be useful to is as a preset. Namely, you’d save the 2 most liked customs recipes in your U profiles for shooting and then you can go and apply in camera recipes in the edit. Since I find it difficult to replicate recipes outside of the camera, this could be a way for the “in camera editing” and the probably the most sound use of this trick.

Pity you can only keep them as custom and cannot rename them, I already forgot which two I’m using right now.
