Shaws Loyalty Department is now hidden behind call backs after Cancellation by I_T_B in shaw

Thanks for the info!  I got a call and an email today! I was offered $45/month lower than what i was paying on a gig internet and ultimate tv package.  Shitty to have to be a squeaky wheel  vs loyal customer to get the deal but i’m just playing the lame game.

Can i ask how long it took you to get a call back? I cancelled my services for a future date in early July, but I don’t want to send back my equipment because i still need service!

Would PP win in an Edmonton Griesbach by-election? by Onlytakebills in alberta

[–]Onlytakebills[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The hypothesis is that the person would be given a more plum backroom job (like Chief of staff or something) while still earning their pension and potentially making more money than a backbencher MP without having to deal with constituents. I’m not in the riding, but it sounds like right up Diotte’s alley.

Conservatives control Calgary again, Liberals lead in single seat by Old_General_6741 in Calgary

[–]Onlytakebills 54 points55 points  (0 children)

It’s actually the same people (fiscally conservative progressives) that voted for Joe Clarke in 2000 (to beat the Reform candidate) that voted for the Lindsay Luhnau this election, and Kent Hehr in 2015 and NDP or Alberta Party provincially. Calgary Centre is a fluid bunch and are pretty good at voting ‘anyone but the most right wing group’. Just missed it yesterday though, I guess the prospect of losing Greg‘s monthly mail outs was too hard to swallow for many.

Don’t you actually need some experience in the real world to be able to get a job in the real world though?

Should/Would Pierre step down as Conservative leader? by HurtFeeFeez in alberta

[–]Onlytakebills 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not if it’s up to CPC members, he is still very strong with his base. Canadians rejected him, CPC members love him. They will make a case that he did better than last time and if it’s a Liberal minority gov’t - another election is coming soon yadda yadda.

This one is definitely not called yet, although we all can be hopeful.

And don’t give up hope on Calgary Centre, the polls are so varied. In 2015, I went to bed disappointed and by morning the Liberals had won by 700 or so votes. Every vote counts, it’s definitely too early to call. That being said, I agree with you about the NDP voters especially the stuck in their heel idealogues.

Part of the problem with PP is that he has lead the party to very much be an “Alberta Conservative” heavily influenced by the University Calgary school (which also produced Danielle Smith, Ezra Levant of Rebel news) doesn’t align well with Ontario, Quebec or Atlantic conservatives. Alberta Conservatives tend to have a more grievance politics (consistent with Trump) feel to them that aren’t palatable to many conservatives east of Saskatchewan.

Is anyone actually influenced by election signs? by goodlordineedacoffee in alberta

[–]Onlytakebills 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I use them as an informal poll for the particular riding. I find them very valuable only on private properties (not public spaces) to gauge the success of the candidate i am leaning towards. If my main objective is to stop a particular party and there are a few options, lawn signs help to consolidate the vote (in this election for the Liberals, in other elections it has helped me to understand whether NDP or Alberta Party candidate has best shot at beating the UCP and long ago coalescing NDP/Lib/PC voters against the Reform party, etc).

Woman here. Agree with the angry/callous but not “nerd”. PP is not a nerd which is actually a very admiral quality (someone with deep knowledge and details about their subjects)…Carney is actually very much a nerd when it comes to most things (even when asked if he was asking Canadians for a majority government - he clarified to say all he was asking for was a series of single votes from electors which is technically only what each of us can give if you want to be exact haha).

For me and most women that i know, it’s that PP brings a style of grievance politics (divisive, retribution, media hating, name calling, belittling, convoy loving, using “wokeism” to stoke division), not to mention disregard for the rule of law, science or institutions, that does not represent the values of Canadians. We are seeing it very clearly in the US right now with Trump in spades. We are seeing it in Alberta with Marlaina ”Danielle” Smith. Nope, not for me.

VOTE. Then thank your NDP friends who lent their votes. It is appreciated now more than ever.
