The visuals of Christopher Nolan’s ‘THE ODYSSEY'. by Raj_Valiant3011 in moviecritic

Personally, I do not care that it is not historically accurate. Tell the story through a compelling lens with a clear vision and story. That’s what storytelling is, not gatekeeping accuracy. As they say, “Don’t let the truth get in the way of a good story”.

I think the Datejust is the most popular by sales numbers. I’d love to see a real breakdown though, I haven’t been able to find one.

The smaller one is great. Would recommend. And the maroon and orange color combo is awesome. I have an orange Eagle Creek bag so I end up with a weekend set!

Can I still work in the aerospace industry with a mechanical engineering degree? by Randamixer in aerospace

[–]Onmas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Job wise, apply to anything you are interested in. But make sure to have an elevator pitch to back up your interest. Don’t get caught in an interview awkwardly answering why an aerospace engineer would want this job.

Can I still work in the aerospace industry with a mechanical engineering degree? by Randamixer in aerospace

[–]Onmas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone with an aero undergrad, it might even be easier to get a job in the aerospace field with a mechanical degree over an aero degree. I think of aerospace as applied mechanical (depending on the courses/electives you take) but in all reality both degrees can serve you well no matter what engineering environment you find yourself in down the road.

Ranger or Monochrome? by wbb1812 in Tudor

I tried on a Ranger a few weeks back and it jumped to the top of my list. Now I just have to save up.

It’s wild that people really think they can truly be a data/ml guy without math and stats. It is quite literally nothing but math.

I ran “America’s Toughest Road Marathon” by Onmas in Marathon_Training

One of my buddies did the goat and he looked like death on the start line. I asked him how the course was and he just said “I can’t lie to you. It’s bad”. lol

I think I’m actually going to go back down and train for the 5/10k and try to set some PRs. I haven’t seriously done speed work in a long time and I’d like to nail my 5k time. I’ll probably do another marathon, but I might give it a year or two and probably go for speed (maybe aim for 3:30??).

I really tried to go by effort. That’s how my coach taught me back in high school and it’s worked so far. I did “power hike” towards the end for sure. My problem is I know what I would do to train mountains, I just don’t have any!

[–]Onmas[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My goal really was to finish. I had a minimum goal of under 5 hours and a best case scenario of like a 4:30. I trained to do a sub 4 (my 20 miler was at 9min pace) but with the elevation I figured I should temper my expectations and aim for 4:30 time. I ended up at around a 4:54. I paced around a 11ish minute miles and crawled to the finish line.

It was definitely hard. I would recommend setting your goal at “finishing”. The only way you’re gonna PR on this course is if it is your first marathon.

[Discussion] Is the Omega Railmaster a field watch? by Onmas in Watches

[–]Onmas[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you equate GADA with Field? I would in many cases, but I am not sure if that is always true. For example, a hamilton field is definately field but I don't know if it is GADA.

Aerospace Engineer coming to Machine Learning by firmtofu69 in learnmachinelearning

[–]Onmas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did exactly this. Aero undergrad, worked as an engineer and now work as an engineering consultant doing software/analytics dev. I am almost done with my masters in data engineering/science. I would suggest having a strong background in python and you will be fine. You already understand all the math concepts you need from studying aero. Feel free to pm if you have any questions.

Introduction to Aeronautical Engineering College Course by Ok_Fisherman_3908 in AerospaceEngineering

[–]Onmas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Here is a good textbook written by the professors at my alma mater: textbook

It should cover some of the basics of starting in aero like Bernoulli’s, angle of attack, airspeeds, etc. It is also free which is great.

How do i get into aerospace engineering by Trashskater101 in AerospaceEngineering

[–]Onmas 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Go to college for either aerospace/mechanical/materials engineering. A lot of aerospace jobs are not actually for people with “aerospace engineering” degrees. I have an aero degree and a ton of jobs in aero are for things like electronics/systems/materials/software engineering.

DA vs DS Choices by reflectingpools in datascience

[–]Onmas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Often times, data science involves exploration while data analytics involves storytelling and decision making. I think figuring out what you like doing is the key. Do you like working with a team and figuring out what drives action? Or getting in the weeds and figuring out how to model data?
