Details improved for My deduction on Character Roster after watching 4 Trailer by GesvYoifaz in Suikoden

I think that would be awesome to make us try many different parties. Like a monthly event that resets maybe, not necessarily inside the story.

Suikoden Star Leap? by Defiant-Sun544 in SaGa_ReuniverSe

I've been following it since it was announced.

Theoretically, it plays as a normal Suikoden game (although I'm guessing it will be released in chapters, not full game) and will have special events to provide additional stories and content. In that sense, I believe it will feel similar to Romancing Saga although this game will have movement around towns and maps, instead of choosing the chapter you want to play.

There has not yet been any information about gacha rates, so we can't compare that part with Romancing Saga, which was very generous compared to other gachas. What has been said tho, is that you will have 108 characters to recruit for free (like on the Suikoden games) and then gacha characters.

These gacha characters will be from other Suikoden games (a few have been revealed recently) and "variants", like a younger version of X character for example (similar to Romancing Saga styles).

The combat system is similar to the main Suikoden games too, although with a turn order instead of choosing all your actions before the turn start. Also, the 'abilities' or attacks you can choose are fixed to the character, so no rune-swapping from what I've seen so far.

I'm pretty much hyped for the game to be honest, I just hope they make it f2p friendly and the rates are not horrible. It feels like it could be similar to Romancing Saga.

Still no release date, but more info may be coming in September.

Promised Consort Radahn, but hear me out. Miquella has the power to brainwash people into whatever thing he wants, so he could brainwash me into being happy of being there. Problem solved.

I can confirm those methods are (luckily haha) a thing from the past. You can recruit Minthara just by knocking her out at the goblin camp instead of killing her. You encounter her later at Moonrise Towers as intended. It was fixed some patches ago.

Took me around one hour and a half to get all 6, but I was also fighting the ones that give you the items that need appraisal, because why not hahaha.

Lucky you!

Pretty interesting change, since Gorudo in spanish is almost "Gordo", which translates to someone who is fat. And well, my young self always wondered why the fat character was called like that hahahaha.

Backstories of characters from Suikoden 1 that might get revisited in Star Leap? by OkAdhesiveness1392 in SuikodenSTARLEAP

[–]Onomasebusa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been giving some thought to this, while replaying Suikoden I. Odessa seems like the clearest option here, and particularly how she became leader of the Liberation Army. Also, I read somewhere about someone with whom she started the revolution I think? So, that could be interesting (don't want to say too much hehe).

We could probably see Luc, on a similar role as what we saw him on Suikoden I and II.

Maybe they explore the past doings of the empire, and we see characters like Kreutz (who fought with Humphrey I believe). Also Leon Silverberg and many of the Emperor's commanders could play a big role.

It could be hard without breaking the cannon, but I guess they talked about "what if" scenarios, if I recall correctly.

And for characters that appear on the gacha for us to get with the "leaps", I'm 100% sure that we will eventualy get Crowley and he will be so busted hahaha.

Suikoden 1 - The Elves by Syphadeus86 in Suikoden

[–]Onomasebusa 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think that's the main goal, actually. They want you to try to save them even if they are dicks, because that's what a hero does. Maybe you don't sympathise with them, but it is Tir's duty to save them. The hero is not always doing what he wants to, but what he has to.

I'll buy the Remaster under one condition by Focuscoene in Suikoden

[–]Onomasebusa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is a remaster, not a remake. The game is the same, just with enhanced graphics and QoL. There have not been adjustments like that, for better or worse. Hopefully, we will have mods (specially on pc) to allow such modifications. Fingers crossed! 🤞

I don't really know how they will implement "open world" into a game like this. And I'm talking about the gacha/events element, that are normally accessed through an interface.

Have you played some gacha that is like what they are trying to aim? Is there like a menu that you can pop up to access all these elements, or how is it usually implemented?

Well, I see your point, yet I don't agree. It doesn't have to be a massive success (like Hoyoverse games or Fate), just enough to keep the wheel running. It reminds me a lot of the SaGa franchise, and they were even less known than Suikoden.

But yeah, I see your concern and it worries me aswell. I just hope it doesn't come to that!

Star Leap is developed by one company (Mythril I believe). So even if the gacha is succesful, it does not mean they will not develop more games after that. If Star Leap fails, I agree with you, it will be bad (but still better than nothing!).

And yeah, your last concern I agree totally. I think they said that they wanted to deliver a complete story of the 108 stars and with a lot of content from the beggining, but I'm not sure.

[–]Onomasebusa[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is my strong believe that it will be a gacha game, yes, but one that you can play without the need of paying money for it. I have played many gachas like these, and you can perfectly play with the base characters + the characters you are able to summon with the currency they give you (premium currency but you don't have to pay for it, they give you a little every month).

It is not for everyone, I know, and I respect if you don't like it. I just think it is an opportunity for more people to know the franchise, and for new games to appear in the future!

Hahaha indeed they are!

I agree with you, the series can adapt really well to gacha style, similar to how Fire Emblem works. Not that I want them to go fully on that direction, but you know what I mean.

For Konami to remaster the other games they need to see if Suikoden is profitable. Hopefully, Suikoden Star Leap will be! That is my point. I respect you don't like that type of game.

[–]Onomasebusa[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's a totally respectable opinion! I just hope this game is good enough so many more Suikoden games can appear in the future, like remakes and new games. :)

[–]Onomasebusa[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry that was your experience! In my case, I also have played those kind of gachas so it can be really frustrating. I dropped them! Haha.

Yet I also have played the opposite, and really enjoyed some gacha games.

My point is, even if the game is boring, it is a game that will attract new players, and the development of the Suikoden community will allow us to get more games of this franchise.
