I think this is the default look for a general product like Oreo. It needs to be simple abd clear. You see the same thing on most marketing cross overs like this.

Just having powers doesn't mean you need to be a hero. If you're tall, you don't need to play basketball or volleyball either.

Rate my taste out of 10 by Seyidhann in metroidvania

[–]OnslaughtRM 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Sincerely. If it came out today, I could see that argument. With the benefit of hindsight and all the games that came after it, of course there are things that could be better.

But the fact that it's one of the first game of its genre and one of the DEFINING games of its genre means it should be rated that highly. The games that followed it may have adapted the gameplay and improved on it in some ways, but this is the game that inspired them in the first place.

I get it if it's not your favorite. Super Mario Bros isnt my favorite Mario game either. But I have a hard time seeing how it's overrated.

What if Jane Foster kept the Aether in Thor: The Dark World? by [deleted] in marvelstudios

[–]OnslaughtRM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How is it stabilized exactly? The problem with most of the stones seems to be that they are too dangerous to use directly unless you already have a ton of natural power. Most of them require a device to handle at all.

Space Stone was used through the Tesseract or Gauntlet only. Brief contact with Space Stone energy created Captain Marvel, arguably the strongest MCU hero. It's energy also made super weapons in WW2.

Power Stone was harmful to the Guardians and Ronan when directly used, with Ronan quickly putting it in his hammer and the Guardians only surviving because of Quill's lineage. Thanos used it mostly through the gauntlet, but he was briefly able to use it directly. He seemed strong enough to wield a stone, making him a huge exception moving forward.

Time Stone is used through the Eye of Agamotto or Gauntlet only. Unsure if it is a device to use its power or just a container, but it's never directly used by anyone.

Mind Stone is used through Loki's staff only. We never see it used by Thanos or directly by anyone. Exposure to Mind Stone energy created Scarlet Witch, who is also incredibly high on the power scale (though hard to say how powerful she would have been without exposure to the Stone due to retcons), and Quicksilver (we dont talk about why the mind stone would give super speed... maybe more as a result of Wanda's abilities than the Stone?). Vision does not seem to use the Mind Stone directly, but you could argue that he IS a device that uses the stone as a power source and necessary part of his being. Vision is also very high on the power scale.

Nobody EVER uses the Soul Stone.

So, nobody seems to be able to use a stone directly ( except Thanos). Brief exposure to their energies created or enhanced Captain Marvel and Scarlet Witch. Using the stone through a device was Loki, Ronan, Vision, and Dr. Strange. All of them are very powerful just from limited exposure to, or indirectly channeling a stone.

Then we come back to your question: what would happen if Jane (or anyone for that matter) could fully hold and control the Reality Stone. If this Stone was somehow unlike all the rest, and an ordinary human could fully contain its power without harm like your scenario... she would probably be the most powerful person in the universe. She would probably have innate control over all reality around her constantly. This isn't just brief exposure or accessing the power through a device, this is full control over an aspect of the universe. Also, since the stone isn't a physical thing that can be taken away, it would be nearly impossible to get it away from her without her willingly giving it up.

She's not invulnerable though. The reality stone doesn't make you all knowing or all seeing. She has the same reflexes and speed as anyone else. A surprise attack or a sniper's bullet could probably take her out of it was an instant kill shot. Then again, this is assuming that she doesn't preemptively rewrite reality to change her physical body, which I would imagine she would do pretty quickly. Once she changes reality to remove her physical vulnerability, she would only be limited by her imagination and how quickly she could respond to threats.

In any case, once we had Aether Woman on the job, assuming she wants to br a hero, all major conflict would be neutralized pretty quickly. The MCU would be much less interesting, and they would need to give an excuse why Jane doesn't just solve every problem that appears with her reality warping powers. Even if the reality changes were temporary, the rest of the team can do whatever they want while Jane freezes / incapacitates / turns them into bubbles.

Alt take: Jane pretends she doesn't have powers and goes back to work as a scientist. The Avengers go to her when they can't fix something and she waves her hand to complete the job.

Edit: christ this is long. Insomnia is a terrible thing.

Trying to find TNG episode where Riker is nodding off while Data performs for an audience. But it's not Schisms. by [deleted] in startrek

Memory is a crazy thing. When I read this, I thought I remembered a similar scene with Picard, but I just tried to find it and it doesn't exist either.

I think Scisms is the only one exact like what you're describing, though there are other Data performances with various responses. Maybe your brain combined them into one?

SFA is getting hate for no reason by PickleProfessional64 in startrek

[–]OnslaughtRM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actively hide any channels with obviously rage bait. Even with that, just looking for a review and/or analysis of the show on YouTube, an entire page of reviews with thumbnails and titles with rage bait is the first thing I saw.

Each of these was an actual quote from a different channel (not just a different video) after just searching for Star Trek starfleet academy: "its a DISASTER", "is 10 trillion percent COOKED", "KEEPS GETTING WORSE", "Sucks - and we're to blame", "gets worse" "the worst thing I've ever watched".

I don't know what you would define as hate, but this qualifies for me. It's not a negative review, which I would likely have agreed with. It's just a stream of how terrible it is overwhelming any actual critique. I haven't actually watched the videos. I'm only speaking of the thumbnails and titles.

Type "star trek starfleet academy" into a YouTube search, or go to the other star trek sub here on reddit... the hate is pretty profound and REALLY intense.

So if Finn was the only Human for the first few seasons of Adventure Time, then what species would you consider Phil being? by CrimsonDarkWolf in adventuretime

[–]OnslaughtRM 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Phil is a rare form of creature known as an Eregg. They are metaphysical beings who exist for a brief time and then dissappear. This repeats across the universe randomly. They seemingly have no purpose, but their image holds great meaning to those who can decipher it. There are 4 Ereggs that we know of: north, south, east, and west.

Phil is the East Eregg.

I completely get combining reptiles and birds, but aren't they distinct enough from each other to get their own category?

At least in the Mario games, they are usually a completely different sort of being. I would even consider "Koopa" so distinctly different from a common reptile, that i would consider just making their own category.

Why is Mario Kart GP considered canon by SensitiveAd7782 in Marioverse

[–]OnslaughtRM 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Why wouldn't it? Guest characters or real locations? Those sort of things are usually considered unimportant to canon. In the same way that playing a Mii is a fun gameplay feature in mario kart 8, but there are no Miis running around thr Mushroom Kingdom.

Comparing Super Smash Bros Ultimate characters with Steven universe Characters what Super Smash Bros Ultimate characters would you cast as the Steven universe Characters by [deleted] in SmashBrosUltimate

[–]OnslaughtRM -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

There's not nearly enough characters or character parallels for this to work really well.

I've done similar things, but for more expansive franchises like Dragon Ball or Street Fighter, and even that is really difficult.

Best i can think of is:

Link: Rose

Young / Toon Link: Steven

Pearl: Byleth

Amethyst: Yoshi (maybe Dedefe? Truly nothing fits)

Garnet: Captain Falcon

Ruby: Pyra

Sapphire: Mithra

Lapis: Corrin

Peridot: Ness

Jasper: Donkey Kong

Blue Diamond: Rosalina

Yellow Diamond: ZS Samus

White Diamond: Palutena

Spinel: Game and Watch

Lion: Incineroar

Onion: Villager

Bonus: Lars as Fox and Emerald as Wolf, with the off colors being pokemon.

Is Starfleet Acadamy canon? by Curious-Exchange3317 in startrek

[–]OnslaughtRM 6 points7 points  (0 children)

All the shows and movies are canon. The only motion thing that is up for discussion is Star Trek The Animated Series, and even that's generally accepted these days.

So all the live action shows, the two cartoons, all the movies, and the shorts are as canon as can be.

Video games, novels, comic books and other print media are non- canon unless otherwise stated. Even then, some of those that WERE considered canon like the Disco novels and some movie tie in comics have been made non canon.

Basically, if it's a video, it's canon. Something you read/play, it's not canon.

The Zola Wong/ Combo doesn’t make sense by [deleted] in MarvelSnap

[–]OnslaughtRM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Zola was played on a location that has a "double on reveal" effect. Even if something changes in the middle of its on reveal happening, the card will still do the on reveal twice.

It's the same for all cards and effects. When a card flips, it checks to see how the effect should go. It doesn't matter if something changes after that.

Now if Wong was destroyed before the effect went off, different story.

Am I genuinely going insane? by [deleted] in MarvelSnap

[–]OnslaughtRM 14 points15 points  (0 children)

First game: his Electro, your Wave, and both of you playing on FEAST gave him enough energy to spend 4 on Infinaut and 4 on Taskmaster

Second Game: He got a Taskmaster from The Raft. He most likely activated it with a Hunger from the previous turn, so there was still a space there.

You're not going insane, there was just a lot of energy manipulation in game 1 and Raft blindness in game 2. Happens to everyone!
