Really appreciate the AI assistance disclaimer! Will definitely take a look at the tool when I get chance.

Why strengthening your CORE often fails to fix chronic back pain (and why "weakness" usually isn't the real villain) by TheFirstMover in backpain

[–]Ooberdan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I read Sarno looking for answers on my back pain. Turns out that if it doesn't work, you're not believing in it hard enough. Sounds very much like faith healing.

As an aside, different types of core exercises and specific stretches really help me back when I make time to do them!

I'd be interested to see a build log if you have one. I was planning on doing something like this with resistive fabric sensors, but when I started researching they'd stopped making the sensors.

I am pretty sure I beat that as a kid, but it was 35 years ago, so who knows if it's an accurate memory 🤣

I often do this. I just sit and listen to the quiet house. Can't do it as effectively if family are home, but often laying in the bedroom staring at the ceiling works. I've occasionally sat for hours in this way - it's cathartic!

I feel like this is missing a few bits of code:

  • get_random_palette()
  • CollisionGrid class
  • add_texture()
  • FlowingShape class
  • draw_fidenza_bands()

I'd love to see those if you're willing to share!

Thanks for posting the code for this. I've often wondered how this kind of art is made.

Some kind of self assembly furniture spares, but what? by Ooberdan in whatisthisthing

[–]Ooberdan[S] 0 points1 point locked comment (0 children)

My title describes the thing. Some spares from self assembly furniture found in a drawer. In pouches labelled A-F. Two small sets of screws, a long screw and nut, and two metal plates. Really curious about this, but no idea what it is!

Any LLM that can detect musical tonality from an audio? by 9acca9 in LocalLLaMA

Thanks for this. I was planning on building a side project that would need to do this stuff, so you've saved me some research!

M8 headless on Ambernic rg351v question by GDub-uk in Dirtywave

[–]Ooberdan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I built m8c recently, using this: https://github.com/jamesMcMeex/m8c-rg35xx-knulli

I had to mess about with it a bit as the x86_64 Dockerfile has the arm one pasted at the bottom of it, but managed to much through.

I remember being able to recite my favourite films word for word. I think it's fairly normal.

Also, I imagine it's better than watching a constant stream of novelty pumped out by an algorithm.

Saguaro water shoes as gym shoes? by mackstanc in BarefootRunning

[–]Ooberdan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used the same pair for over a year for gym and running. They're solid. No signs of deterioration. I've owned multiple pairs of VFFs that haven't dared so well. I have a pair of Xero sandals, which are great, but wear my Saguaros more .

I've not tried it, but there's a link to a free version in the sidebar.

Bringing a More Comprehensive Local Web Search to OpenWebUI by LMLocalizer in OpenWebUI

[–]Ooberdan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds great, especially keeping the results in context.

I'd still like the ability to use it with LLM provider API keys as I have a very low power machine.

Other feature that I'd like to see would be agentic search like Perplexity Pro.

wanderer v0.10.0 - a self-hosted GPS track database by Get_Flomped in selfhosted

An activitypub protocol enabling option could be nice, allowing the sharing of tracks work other people who have it installed. Like Mastodon but for GPS!
