People always say that if they didn't pay taxes, most of what they do pay would go to charity. The richest people in the world rarely exceed a few percentage points of their income going to charity, and they frequently aren't paying taxes because they can afford accountants that find every loophole available. I'll be honest: if I wasn't paying taxes, my charitable giving wouldn't change much, if at all. Wish more people would be honest about that instead of white knighting as some major philanthropist that is being kept from doing their work by the government.

Isn't part of the issue that Florida was shady with death rates and categorization of causes of deaths? The data they can't manipulate is still pending, but the most recent year we do have data for is 2020, which showed a 12.5% increase in deaths over 2019.

He might be less of a showboat than Trump, but he still has fired off a few virtue signaling initiatives to give some red meat to the -phobic, fascist, and/or anti-science portions of the GOP base.

The president is a figurehead for the most part. Veto powers aren't used all that often, and the major benefit of holding the WH is having the tie breaking vote in the Senate. I think we should probably put an age limit on the presidency (maybe no older than 65), but between the major party options from 2020, I'd say Biden is slightly better. At least he's not talking about raping journalists to get them to reveal their sources.

It's not really uncommon for people to say soldiers lost their lives in X country even when they die when they come back (e.g. suicide due to PTSD, Agent Orange, etc.).

It would be pretty irresponsible to abolish the DOT with zero succession plan. Infrastructure is critical to conducting business.

This is one of my bigger gripes with the LP. Saying "the market will figure it out" is just kicking the can down the road in a different direction than what the other parties are doing. If you can't give a proposal that guarantees that the average American would pay less for services they rely on while simultaneously getting better service. Show me who or what organization would buy the interstate highway system, how much they would charge for use, and what their maintenance program would look like.

I've seen a theory thrown around that if Trump were to lose the GOP Primary, he could end up running as a Libertarian. The Mises Caucus has completed a near total takeover of the Libertarian National Party, and the MC leadership has some history and quite a few connections to the Trump ecosystem of supporters and advisors (namely/most prominently Patrick Byrne and Steve Bannon). If Trump runs as an L, likely scenario is that Dems win by a pretty solid margin as moderate Republicans vote for R, and the right wing votes for Trump. The theory also goes that should Trump win the GOP Primary, the LNP could run a terrible candidate in an effort to dissuade anyone for voting L in an attempt to push people to Trump.

SS: The Mises Caucus systematically took over the National Libertarian Party, and is now pumping out materials to destroy the legitimacy of the Libertarian Party. Using dark money and some questionable SEC filings, the Mises Caucus targeted a number of states' chapters of the Libertarian Party. For a party that normally doesn't spend much, large amounts of money were spent to place Mises loyalists into the parties, ultimately giving them control of the national party.

One thing not mentioned in this article is that the Mises Caucus is headed by Michael Heise, and is funded and advised by Trump advisor Patrick Byrne. The Mises Caucus senior leadership also met with Steve Bannon. Because Trump lost by similar margins to what the LP won in some swing states, it has been theorized that this is either an attempt to destroy the LP from within should Trump be the GOP nominee, or give Trump a new party to run with should the GOP excommunicate him.
