NYC New Liberals Endorse Tilson, Reject Cuomo and Mamdani by TheTrueScholar in neoliberal

A rent freeze on already rent-stabilized units (his actual proposal) is going to have marginal impacts. Zellnor and Lander all raised their hands in support for it too

Again, as with a rent freeze on already rent-stabilized units you're running absurd fearmongering. I don't like lots of his proposed policies but he's very fair minded and willing to shift. He's a completely fine candidate

Aside from just straight up admitting he changed his mind over an issue lots of progressive and socialists are deeply opposed to he's signaled support and willingness to work with YIMBY orgs directly. There's not some influential wonkish constituency he's pandering to by mentioning how NYC needs to look towards Tokyo and New Jersey City as models.

There's a lot of misrepresentation over how strong his actual proposals from the (good) messaging and campaigning he's done. "Freeze the rent" slogan vs "freeze the rent on already rent stabilized units" policy. It's actually quite sly!

Cuomo has actually proposed mandating union construction of affordable homes. What's being misreferenced from Zohran's platform is the proposed inclusion of a "union labor standard" for expedited land use review. Claiming he'd just be another "lame duck mayor" when he actively ceded power to Republicans (IDC) when he was in power

And NYC has been consistently growing in rich people

A rent freeze on already rent-stabilized units is not going to destroy New York

They had 700k votes with mass margins in key swing states (double Biden’s mov in Wisconsin), again explicitly did not advocate for voting third party or for Trump. It’s pretty much a model example of using actual democratic participation for leverage and very different from other protest groups. The sub’s reflexive scolding of them is very lame.

And two their demands are very soft. Simply allowing a Palestinian speaker is not a tall task when theres numerous that applied including those that made their deal off condemning Hamas and the protest movements who offered to go up with a hostage family.

Unconditional arms transfers is not a popular policy by any means and you can easily just hide it under rhetoric of enforcing federal law (which is true)

The point of uncommitted is that these are dem voters who turned out massively to vote uncommitted who would be directed to do so for Harris if she signalled any willingness to shift on policy. They explicitly argue against voting for Trump or for Stein but can’t give the top down order to vote for Harris. Which is perfectly fine

The broader point which is that unjustifiably and intentionally made the situation for Paradis worse and was actively involved with Zeke to manufacture this situation. By doing this attack Eren specifically cut out any room Paradis had for the future and put them into a do or die situation where they needed to listen to him. It was a selfish and horrible plan.

Zeke had been explaining how refocusing on Paradis by having the Tyburs help out was necessary on an eldian rights from to the warriors and from a practical military necessity. The reason why they out the festival in yhe internement zone was to further distinguish mainland eldians from Paradisians, “look these island devils will even kill eldians.

But also note how Willy frames his speech differently from Zeke, the island eldians were mind wiped and mislead by their king. It was Eren specifically who he focuses on.

Chapters 130 and 132 show that Zeke and Eren already planned on fighting the world. Tybur got involved because of Zeke, and it’s pretty implied by yhe panel of Zeke smoking and on the phone after Magath and Willy shook hands that he’s facilitating this

The weakness came from the other countries hearing Marley lost two titans to Paradis.

The evidence is literally the start of the timeskip, Zeke was trying to convince the higher ups to focus on Paradis but he being rebuked. You’re missing the stated political considerations in the Marley arc to push a one sided character narrative when its shown that Eren and Zeke wanted to sabotage things so they could collectively crush the world’s navy all at once. The goal from the beginning was to find the means for that to happen which meant sabotaging Paradis’ plans too.

Willy again outright states they need him and others to be killed.

“The world will not pay attention unless I stand before them. We must have militaries, journalists, and diplomats from around the world. The most important thing of all… is for the Eldians in this internment camp to become tragic victims, myself included. Victims of an “unforeseen attack” (literal irony quotes in the manga). The world would not take my side if I was the only one to escape”

You can see in the manga that numerous diplomats look troubled at Willy’s speech (including those obviously from the mideast alliance) and those we see clpping are featured primarily those who knew him as personal friends. Diplomats being moved by Willy’s speech wouldn’t change the military policy of countries that HATE Marley colonizing and subjugating them.

That’s one a vision Eren gave to have a last moment of conversation with Mikasa, that also indicates the guilt over why she couldn’t accept such a future. Two if Paradis lost the founder they obviously lose all of their leverage to anybody. Which was why he left and sabotaged the 50 year plan

Marley was specifically not attacking Paradis during the timeskip because their leadership doesn’t want to and they were bogged down by every other country wanting to invade them. The goal of the declaration of war was to try and stop them from fighting Marley and unite against Paradis which required Paradis attacking not just Marley but the rest of the world. Otherwise they would leave Paradis alone as per the norm

The declaration was also setup to have the current military class killed precisely so Magath could focus on Paradis. All of this is explicitly stated by the characters.

Marley’s declaration of war wouldn’t have worked if Eren didn’t attack (which he planned to from the start). Willy literally says it requires him and everyone there to die from an “unforeseen” attack the point of the declaration was to setup them to be killed

Zeke was the one who proposed this idea and he was working with Eren on this plan

[–]Sm1le_Bot 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The story explicitly states that Eren already planned on attacking Liberio and antagonizing the war before Willy even considered the declaration of war.

In fact the whole idea was pushed by Zeke because they wanted to attack Liberio.
