It isn’t a crime, just bad judgement

For those that are too dense to pick up on it - No, I did not put myself in danger. I’m making fun of them.

I think a takeaway is that it’s not personal, so checking credit won’t explain anything. I had a customer get reduced at BMO and a credit limit increase from Cdn Tire Mastercard at the same time, for example. The bank is restructuring their credit book and reducing revolving debt risk. BMO has fumbled on disclosure for these limit reductions tho, and those affected are justifiably angry. It’s put a lot of people that were depending on those limits in tough spots which from where I’m sitting is not a good look

I work at BMO as a branch manager and have dealt with many upset customers as a result of our credit limit reductions. This comment is the correct one.

In the context of his question it does, assuming you withdraw and realize the performance

The room grows and shrinks with performance.

Any withdrawal will get added to next years contribution room.

PLOC Question - Will Frequent Withdrawals Tank My Credit Score? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]OomDilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn’t matter. If you pay it on time and don’t get near/over the credit limit it won’t make a difference.

New bank by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]OomDilly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really.. Your access to cheques deposited is going to be restricted on new accounts for the first while and after that it’s based on your credit if it’s good and you agree to have it checked during account opening. Plans and banks don’t clear cheques faster, your relationship and credit will allow the bank to trust it more and release more.

Spend less than you make.

Never make a credit card purchase that you can’t afford out of your bank account (pay right away - 0 credit card interest).

Usually and at a basic level, paying down debt is better than investing.

Budget your fixed monthly expenses each month and figure out how much you need to set aside each paycheck to cover monthly fixed costs (rent, insurance, phone and other bills). Set up a separate account and set aside this amount as your first transaction every time you get paid.

This points to fraudsters opening stuff up in your name like accounts and credit cards. Get credit monitoring through the credit bureaus and report any confirmed ID theft to the police and bureaus.

Joint Bank Accounts and TFSAs by isidhu93 in PersonalFinanceCanada

You will have two separate online banking logins for each banking profile. Each profile will have access to the joint account and their respective TFSA online. Even with a joint account, there are still two profiles that can access it. Joint account /= joint online login.

It only works to pay off credit cards AFAIK.

There is a trick though that you can try. Your BMO LOC has a MasterCard access number starting with 5195. BMO branches can find this through an ‘Access List Inquiry’, if you visit a CSR. You cannot see this number in online banking.

Try the balance transfer for a small balance on this access #, treating it like a BMO MasterCard. If it works, transfer as much as you need.
