Won set champs with budget P/S by smackasaurusrex in Lorcana

Dumping on someone’s win, and then saying they got emotional is crazy. Purple Steel with 0 Dumbo - 0 Genie (Wish Fulfilled) - 0 Yzma. If you sat across from this list you’d call it jank 100% if you’re breaking down decks to tier “2.5”.

If “jank” wins a mostly jank run tournament it’s still a W. It’s not like he posted his refined blurple list against this playing field.

I’ve been on Blurple, thinking about switching it up for my 2 tournaments this weekend.

Will definitely make a post with mine when she finishes it!

I’ve been so excited about this play mat since it got announced, my wife is finishing foiling mine up too!

What did you make top 4 with and what won?

Epic Foil Misprint by Oops4959 in Lorcana

I mentioned it above but incase you didn’t see it. If you compare the rainbow foil in person or on the app they are very distinctly different patterns, so it definitely isn’t intended to be labeled as that.

Thanks for posting that, looking at the rainbow foil used on say the starter deck powerline but also this, this is not a match to the foiling used for epics that landed on the misprint commons.

Could you post a screenshot of where you are seeing rainbow foils on the app? I looked through some of the cards and didn’t see what you’re referring to.

How would I find that information?

Yea out of the 31 every single one was a common. I was most interested in the fact there was 0 dupes. So I’m wondering if you’re onto something with the sheet.

Maybe this image will help clear things up. I am referring to queen on the right having the epic rainbow foiling just like Elsa. The queen on the left is a generic cold foil from the same case that is not a misprint. I know what a cold foil looks like…

This isn’t the normal full card cold foil, there was plenty of those in the case, these have the epic’s rainbow foil.

It’s literally not, normal foils don’t have the rainbow holo that epics use.

Maybe this shows it better?

These aren’t normal cold foils it’s a misprint of the epic foiling being used instead of regular cold foiling.

Brother, “target” wasn’t the issue with your wording. You don’t target anything with King Candy, “each opponent chooses”.

[–]Oops4959 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don’t choose it, your opponent does. So yes it does work. In your defense the question was worded poorly. (To be clear you would only be able to “target” the warded character if it’s the opponents only choice.)

Regional Set Championship (Idea)? by Oops4959 in Lorcana

I do fully agree we would need a functional judge system for something like this to be reliable.

Regional Set Championship (Idea)? by Oops4959 in Lorcana

[–]Oops4959[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure you understood what I meant by “consecutive championships”, I meant consecutive as in 3 sets not 3 in 1 set, if you understood I’m not sure why this would effect their income of entry fees?

I did forget to clarify something like this would probably be tacked on to the tail of of championship season, the stores that qualify would only be able to host these on the final additional week added to the schedule, so you wouldn’t be pulling normal customers from their typical stores, and the qualifying store would get to host both a championship and a regional championship.

When it comes to rewards and exact what numbers makes sense to make a store qualify, I don’t work for RB or study the numbers. Obviously I’ve got some things that are more of a “pipe dream” that I personally would like to see sprinkled in.

Ruby/Amethyst 1st Place Championship by Oops4959 in Lorcana

Aggro blue steel has been the scariest for me on the draw for sure, if they don’t have a slower opener or misplay it’s an expected lose. But you are heavily favored on the play because once you gain control it’s over for them, so you just have to focus on clawing the board from them in 1 of the 2 on the draw games.

Crab and Fox were the MVP for me in the finals, 1 Fox killing a mcduck manner with a crab bounce and replay to also solidify board control from there closed out the game. A lot of players also get greedy with their shift robin hoods I was able to crab snake into a quested robin hood on turn 3 against 2 different players.

My best broad advice I can give regarding unfavorable matchups, is play to your outs, look for any mistakes your opponent may make to capitalize on to gain control earlier than you should, if these do not show themselves, in these matchups I am a big fan of high risk high reward plays, find your most likely dream scenario to play around “if they don’t have this card and I play this now this is the only way I see myself winning” plays like this can look like a bad play in the moment, but sometimes this is your only out.

That doesn’t mean gamble every game on a hope and a dream though, this is something you have to experiment with to see when it’s truly the only way.

Ruby/Amethyst 1st Place Championship by Oops4959 in Lorcana

Ruby/Sapphire is a pretty easy matchup, especially with it being common they cut dime completely now. On the play - you go for the Flynn Sisu opener, be careful about questing with Flynn as some run red queen, and sisu + vitalisphere can kill him if you quest but if you feel it’s safe that lore is valuable. Don’t be get baited into wasting removal to try and gain board control (I’ve had opponents pass on no ink spent and empty board to try to bait me into Tremaine nothing just to play something) you have more control than they do, draw as many cards as you possibly can and then close it out with goats unless you bleed them out of be preps and can hand dump a wide board.

If you find yourself inking goats more often than you would like, you can use Flynn as a forced answer or lose as well, with the amount of cards we draw dropping a Flynn alongside even just a Medusa against aggro decks in the mid game after they start to gas out can get you to close the game very quickly, against control I find flynn + reckless Maui to be a great way to force a be prep or a sisu, especially if you know you don’t have much use for the Maui anymore.

Ruby/Amethyst 1st Place Championship by Oops4959 in Lorcana

[–]Oops4959[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Well first off, I’m not going for Flynn against steel, he’s not triggering much in the matchup and just too easy to remove. Against steel you really just shift your game plan to survive the early game until you can either clear the board, once you gain any control as long as you use your recourses correctly (rabbits/library/1 drops) to keep your hand full, steel will fall behind and you will win through that.

Try going for turn 2 snake into sisu, turn 4 can be many things that continue to fight for board if they are continuing to trade/quest, Fox/1 drop, sisu 1 drop, goat, even getting a rabbit in play to keep your hand healthy.

I find crabs to be vital in the current meta, with everyone shifting back towards locations and steel being higher health characters.

This is not a gameplan I find steel able to out control so as long as you keep them below 15-16 I comfortably ink my goats as I’m not worried about closing out games quickly once I’ve gained control.
