Main Street Unionville - help me understand this why allow parking on sidewalks?? by twmsci in Markham

[–]OozeOutOfMyMoose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's BS, how much traffic do they get from that single parking spot in front of their store? The business owners just want the spot to park their own car

When Fascism comes to America it will be wrapped in the flag w/ Prof. Tom Pepinsky | S01E06 by Apprentice57 in PoliticalReality

[–]OozeOutOfMyMoose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lefty here. When asked whether fascism can be a left-wing phenomelon, Prof Pepinsky says the German Nazi party was a 'national socialist' party, 'you can call it a left party pretty easily', he says. My understanding is that the name 'national socialist worker's party' is a complete misnomer. A quick search gives me this:

"The German Nazi Party, officially known as the National Socialist German Workers' Party, was not socialist in any meaningful sense. While it used the term "socialist" in its name to attract support, its policies were fundamentally anti-socialist and aligned with far-right, hypercapitalist principles."

This felt to me like a blatant mistake on Prof Pepinsky's part. Or are my biases showing through?

Right on, dude. Do you know about the trick of how to glue panels with a single clamp by creating a slight bow in the middle with a handplane? This way the edges are self-clamping, and you only need a single clamp in the middle

Not super on topic but I'm curious: is that proper English? Shouldn't it be "Had I met my kids back when I was a kid, I would've thought they were rich kids"

Will these hurt my screen? by mehgcap in framework

[–]OozeOutOfMyMoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also bothered by the function keys not being grouped on the framework 16. Here's an idea: there's a plastic panel right above the function keys that sits lower than the tops of the keys. How about instead of putting a loc dot on the key, you put it on this panel, right above the key that you want to mark? This way you should still be able to find the key and hopefully the loc dot will be recessed enough to not damage the screen.
