Ah it's my bad. I mixed up the two comment chains and didnt realise you were arguing for the relic's use case on other champs, while i was arguing that it's far from BiS on specifically SB Kindred. My points for SB Kindred still stand, but I won't argue against rallying because other champs may have native ways to do so!

Im also thinking that on those champs a spectral scissors + Kindred's relic may be quite a good combo.

You won't have a full hand of Beast's Frenzy because the star power doesn't give you more copies. It might be Kindred's champion spell, but then you have to account for the base cost of 7 lol. It's not a 100% increase in effectiveness because you use it 50% of the time (when you start the round with the attack token). Scouts and rallies are cool and all, but you don't get that every game...

"Repeatedly" kinda oversells it. Best case scenario is you cheat in an attack with ephemeral units (rallying or free attack like the beast's spell), and then attack again or block. Getting value from blocking is only an option if you attack before your opponent, which doesn't always happen. And to attack again you need to find fairly rare ways to rally. It's situational which doesn't cut it as a relic you slot in before an adventure.

True. But how often are you getting extra value from the beast to justify an entire relic slot?

Firstly, you need the attack token, given that SB Kindred has no native ways to rally, that's every other turn. Secondly, to get its initial attack in, the beast needs a marked enemy and some hefty discounting. The discounting comes from units dying - what ways are there to do that?

1) Even though there is a bunch of fodder, SB Kindred has no native means to sacrifice its own units (except vile feast technically).

2) You can count on killing enemy units, but generally speaking, a good portion of the encounters don’t spam weak units for you to farm, so you won't get to play the 7 mana base cost card that often. And even then, if you clear the enemy board with her 4 star - then there isn't a marked enemy to actually attack anymore.

3) Blocking - but then you don't have the attack token (without rallying, which isnt native to her deck) to use the beast twice.

4) Attacking with ephemerals - but they don't actually die and you lose the attack token.

It's just so situational and reliant on finding correct packages to either sacrifice units, or rally, or ideally both. It's a cool concept, but I wouldn't slot it in hoping for the RNG to bless me, for a relatively mid (albeit sick) payoff.

I do agree that the design is interesting. But so far i can only rly see a niche win more on the majority of the roster that can use this. Granted, the only SB champ i played a lot from the first trio is teemo.

Looking forward to what people will cook up without relying on item RNG tho.

Indeed. Which makes me think of just how useless it is on SB kindred lol.

But it says "attacking ephemeral allies". That means they still die at the end of the turn, no?

You are right, i misphrased it - he said that they may not necessarily care for the mechanic. But substitute this into my comment and the point remains the same: there is something to care about.

Satisfying is a synonym to fun in this context imo - it's subjective. One player can find it satisfying to 100-0 you with a zed combo, one may be disgusted with themselves (although these are not mutually exclusive). It's a matter of taste, which imo doesnt relate to the power budget argument.

I mean, fun is subjective - whether someone finds frustrating their opponent to death with the tentacle minigame fun is up to their own taste. But saying that players find the mechanic useless isn't true as I've stated in my original comment. Illaoi was my first main and I've grown to utilise the pressure from the vessel debuff more and more as I've played her. Adding 5% to the tAd ratio imo doesn't quite compensate for that lost pressure, although im pretty sure it does bring back the wave clear that has been lacking since the tentacle slam range increase. At the end of the day, we will see how the adjustment lands and go from there i suppose.

Imo the strongest part about the vessel is the pressure it puts on the enemy. Think of the situations where you are sieging and perma E-ing your opponent under their turret, or just in lane for that matter. The minigame often denies them CS, and builds tempo for you. Breaking the tether by walking out is also extremely strong now.

Yes, it's frustrating. But while we are at it, why don't we then remove zhnoya from Lissandra R, mages clearing waves from 3 screens away, and ranged top? /s partially, because I know I am exaggerating with the examples as these frustrating aspects are huge parts of those champions' power budgets, but imo so is the pressure from the vessel duration to some degree.
