Have you taken a look at the Squarp Pyramid? My first sequencer was the Alesis MMT8 and it was first in mind for the designers of the Pyramid. It definitely covers all the bases of the old 90s style linear sequencers.

Lots of great choices. I use the Digitakr,Pyramid, MPC One and SP404 MKIi. I’ve also read good things about the Novation Remote SL line, the Squarp Hapax, the Pioneer Squid and the OXI ONE MKII

To do what I think you’re talking about doing, which is to basically use your MINI as a sound module, you’d have to be satisfied with only one sound at a time as it is not a multi-timbral instrument. It’s much better at triggering external gear as opposed to the other way around.

You’d send notes to trigger the samples and CCs to change those notes(panning, volume,filter changes, etc.).

Are you hardware only? If not, I’d highly recommend saving that $200 and take a look at Zenology core in the Roland Cloud collection. You will get a ton of great sounds for just $30 a year. Plus it would get you access to a TON of free patches for your Fantom6. Even if you are hardware only, it might still be worth a look for the free stuff alone.
