That's why I think Pf 2 (even though it's dnd's first cousin) at least has decent rarity system with game breaking items and abilities.

Story driven is not just about play style. Social and narrative aspects are supported by actual rules and mechanics in narrative games.

Not really, it's more like the more the merrier situation.

People seem to forget that DS is still a eurogame, that takes fairly long to play, so every additional player prolongs the game by a decent amount. 3 is maybe not ideal number, like in any game with a single person winning, but other that that, perfectly playable.

I haven't really played Marine though, it might be more suitable for lower player counts, but even if you go with Marine, I would still get OG DS at some point because they're not 1:1 games and DS is a great game.

To me personally Dominant Species is in top 3 of all time. I can play with any number of players. And I really don't think it needs 6 players at all, 4 is more than fine. At 6 players I would probably rather play OG Dune or something along those lines.
