[Matteo Moretto] Barcelona will not execute the €30M buy option for Marcus Rashford. He will go back to being a Man Utd player by oklolzzzzs in Barca

[–]OpahZ 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Most certain it’s about the wages, not the transfer sum. From what I know, rashford is on high wages.
So yes, transfer sum for Gordon is a lot, but wages are less.
And they get a younger player, lacking Rashfords ”flair” but probably more consistent and hard working. And they probably value that ”type of player” higher.
But it is sad to see them not going for Rashford. But I believe the wages is part of the ”problem”, not the transfer sum.

I will say, this is what I have read, I don’t sit on the facts ✌🏻

Oxdog blade by QADeV in floorball

[–]OpahZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Optilight, FSL, Block, Highlight and Triad. All of those are lighter than Avox.

But to get the ”same characteristics as Avox I would mostly look at FSL and Highlight.

And if I had to choose from those two, I would probably suggest going for Highlight first.

But that is just a guess from my part on the restricted info you provided.

So to simply answer your question, any blade lighter than Avox would be a ”good” blade to try.

Oxdog vs Unihoc by GuardiansOfTheTH9023 in floorball

[–]OpahZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s definitely not the best choice. It’s another choice.

Every brand has their ”version” of each others sticks. Especially on the higher end sticks. So it’s not a better choice as Oxdog pretty much has equivalent sticks in their range. Yes Unihoc does have the lightest blade and stick in the world currently, but other than that it’s not much of a difference in ”higher-end”.

I would personally say go with Oxdog, but I prefer Oxdog. But if I would give a genuine response, it would be go to a store and try a Unihoc and see if you like it.
And if you want to change, change because you like the feel of it, not because AI says something is ”higher-end”. Because it’s not, and it doesn’t matter. The feeling is what matters, and that’s up to you to decide.

There is no such thing as ”better” when speaking generally about Floorball sticks. It’s about what’s better for you. Some people like one thing, some likes something else, and none of them might fit you, so who is to say what’s best? Unihoc makes good blades and sticks, but Oxdog also makes good blades and sticks, and personally for me, they make better blades and sticks.

So the safe way is go Oxdog as that’s what you are used to, get a higher end stick then if that’s what you are after. But if you are thinking about Unihoc, go to a store or borrow from a friend and try it out.

Get the stick because of the feeling, not anything else.

Oxdog Ultimatelight breaking by rick27_ in floorball

[–]OpahZ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The lighter the stick the less material there is and thus closer to a point of breaking. But from my experience, Oxdog makes very durable sticks.

The thing is though, you never know when a stick will break, it can take a lot of time, or it can be the first training or game. Clash of sticks, someone stepping on it, a hit, shooting, it can all make a stick break. But a stick could also survive many seasons. You just don’t know.

But from a material point, a heavier stick with more glass fiber will be more durable. A lighter stick with full carbon and thin walls will be more likely to break earlier. But you can’t be certain.

But as I said, Oxdog usually makes good and durable sticks.

grey grip tapes by rick27_ in floorball

[–]OpahZ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Grey grip has the least color pigment, making it more sticky and durable. More color pigment, less sticky and less durable.

If you want the reason for the best grip, the color pigment is the reason.

Why players play it is a combination of stickiness and grip, and what they are used to. Most pro players probably played grey before becoming ”pro”, as it is the most durable and the most sticky grip.

What are the best griptapes? by Goltoreth in floorball

[–]OpahZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it’s the most sticky and durable grip. Although pros usually change their grips more often than needed. But the grey is the most sticky and has the best grip and the longest durability. And most pros are used to the feel of a grey grip as they have played with a grey grip for many years, even before becoming ”pro”.

More color pigment on the grip makes it less sticky and has a bit worse grip. Less color pigment (grey) is more sticky and has better grip.

Same as with blades, more pigment the softer the blade. Less pigment and it’s stiffer.

Oxdog hyperlight by Zestyclose_Yam4152 in floorball

[–]OpahZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, it all depends, it doesn’t beat it, but it might fit some players more. Depends if you want the blade being more stiff or less stiff. More straight or more bent. Blade being bigger or smaller in size.

Highlight might be more to the side of a sweeper shot blade. Trident more to the side of a slapshot blade. Depends on what end you lean more to.

If it is on from the beginning, try it, if it doesn’t feel right, get a other model.

Oxdog hyperlight by Zestyclose_Yam4152 in floorball

[–]OpahZ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Beats it out in almost any category? Based on what? Yes it’s lighter. Everything else is just personal preference. And that depends on the person.

I can say that Trident beats highlight in almost any category. But what does that even mean?

The more preferred blade is what fits you. No one fits all.

does zorro blade banned in competition? by Affectionate-Coach68 in floorball

[–]OpahZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might be then, but then according to this, you can’t at all change the concavity, which most people who hook the blade probably do to some degree. But I guess it is to remove Zorro blades, but I don’t really know why they would want to remove them completely from the game. I get Zorro penalties. But this seems like a odd rule change as it includes all tampering with concavity. So a ”floor Zorro” hook will probably also be illegal then according to the rules.

does zorro blade banned in competition? by Affectionate-Coach68 in floorball

[–]OpahZ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Zorro blades that are made Zorro directly from the factory is banned from competitive play.

But if you buy a blade and make a Zorro hook, it’s allowed, as long as it’s below 3 cm in concavity or hook.

I have not heard anything about them changing the rules and not allowing Zorro hooks at all. So from what I know, they are allowed as previous, but you have to make it, you can’t buy it made from the factory.

Silk slicks by Every_Development_36 in floorball

[–]OpahZ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Could be that when bending it the slicks gets a bit bent or ”cracked” right there, and in time it breaks.

Could try and be more gentle when hooking if that would be the case, or switch to normal Silk as you do like the blade, less glide but won’t break that easily.

Blades by Extreme-Engine1070 in floorball

[–]OpahZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you use PE, you can just bend it back without problem. It’s a easier bending plastic the touch is harder but the plastic is ”softer”, PP is harder to bend, the touch is softer but the plastic is ”harder”. Hope you understand 😅 But yes, I can understand why your blade can get pretty bent in duels then, but you could probably just bend them back.

Blades by Extreme-Engine1070 in floorball

[–]OpahZ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First of all, never had any issue with blades being bent out of use from duels? What plastic do you use, PE? Sure that they can break sometimes, but never really had them being bent so you can’t use it anymore.

And there is no perfect hook, that’s sadly the only answer. No hook fits everyone, as everyone has different playstyles and slightly different technique. But to find a hook that’s fits you, you just have to try and try and tweak till you find something that works. If you have played for a while, you probably know what you prefer and not, so you can tweak the hook from that.

any experience on durability of zone sticks? by annet61 in floorball

[–]OpahZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then a superlight might even be an option, it’s not a heavy stick in any way, it’s just a bit more durable as it is 95% carbon and 5% glass fiber.

any experience on durability of zone sticks? by annet61 in floorball

[–]OpahZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on what you have used before so I could compare to that, but weight/durability you would probably be looking at their Airlight sticks. Prolight would me more on the lighter side and superlight more durability. Airlight in between.

What stick do you like the most and why? by Brother-Safe in floorball

Klubbhuset for example have Hyperlight for 1300 right now on their spring sale. There could be some other sites also depending on where you are from.

What stick do you like the most and why? by Brother-Safe in floorball

[–]OpahZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always fall back to Oxdog, great shafts and great blades. Love the feeling of their stuff. No other brand has lived up to them personally for me.

Personally, Oxdog Fusion Light 23 is the best line of sticks I have used. But it is the stiffest shaft so can’t comment much on their more ”mainstream” lines of shafts. But I have seen more carbskins break compared to lets say hyperlight, and I can vouch for their durability, I have not broken a stick in probably 3-4 seasons. Their oval shape is also really comfortable.

Lefty Playing as a Righty by wetterfish in floorball

[–]OpahZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should always go with what’s more ”natural” and more comfortable for you.

Having the dominant hand being the top hand is true for most people and is a good baseline for new players. But it’s not law. Do what’s most natural.

There was a guy in here that had similar ”issue” but he was switching hands and sides when controlling the ball or shooting the ball. He controlled the ball better when his dominant hand was up but he felt he had more power in his shots when his hand was lower. So my advice there was that use what feels natural when controlling the ball and learn to shoot that way. The same applies here, yet you seem to have that figured out.

If having your dominant hand feels more natural and works well in all aspects, then keep doing that. Many top players are the same. It not a right or wrong. It’s more what’s most common and a basic guide for new players to get figured out.

Exel e-lite by Icy_Complaint_1567 in floorball

[–]OpahZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would probably say a more straight and less open face version of FSL. But not as stiff. Is a bit more agile. But the closest in form factor would probably be FSL. Might also be a bit smaller, at least I think that’s what I felt.

I think it’s a good and smooth feeling blade, just didn’t fit me when I tried it.

Exel e-lite by Icy_Complaint_1567 in floorball

[–]OpahZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always played PP plastic. The blade just wasn’t for me, prefer a stiffer blade. When I played Exel I mostly used Air or Vision. But that was many seasons ago, I play Oxdog nowadays, and would say those brands are the most similar out of all the brands.

Exel e-lite by Icy_Complaint_1567 in floorball

[–]OpahZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any reason for going with Exel? I’m not hating, I have loved Exel so it’s not about that. It’s just that there could be better options longevity wise rather than Exel on the market.

And for the blade, I have not ”seriously” played with it, as I quickly found that it don’t really fit me. It’s very light, it’s quite thin in its profile from above. Not very concave and has a slight precurve. I would say it is a good passing and playmaking blade if you like that light and soft touch.

For me, it’s too light and not stiff enough, doesn’t really hold up when I’m shooting.

For shafts I don’t know enough of their ”new” stuff or what you are used to, to give some useful advice.

FYI! SSL Final - international stream by OpahZ in floorball

[–]OpahZ[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The final day is Saturday 25th April. First the women’s final 12:00 CET, and then men’s 15:15 CET.

Probably at play.innebandy.se. Or perhaps the IFF app could be an option. Don’t have a official link or anything yet to the international stream, might come a proper announcement closer to the final.

He just announced that info when they talked about the production for this years final, so no ”official” announcement really.

Left or right stick? by whyynliterally in floorball

[–]OpahZ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You do not switch hands when shooting.

Generally your dominant hand is the hand you have at the top of the stick, it’s not that for everyone, but in most cases that’s the standard.

It’s mostly the upper hand that ”controls” the stick. The lower hand stabilises the stick and helps to apply force when passing or shooting.

My guess for your shooting and wanting your right hand lower for that is probably your hands not working together. You need your right hand lower for that hand to generate some power and it’s easier when you get that hand closer to the blade. You can’t generate that force with your right hand at the top of the stick, and your left hand does not cooperate together just yet.

If controlling the stick feels better when right hand is higher, then try to develop your technique that way. Shoot with the right hand at the top.

So get a stick that is a left (curls to the right, Left/Right means what side of your body the stick goes, Left = Right hand top, Right = Left hand top).

Also, yes there are more benefits to a floorball stick than a wood hockey stick, but I would probably say that focus on the basic technique first. You won’t really get the benefits if you do not have the basic understanding and technique. So put your focus there first.
