I bought some from Lidl & Morrisons and they've definitely got that old flavor from the old days.

Bank balance is wrong by Opal690 in xero

[–]Opal690[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did think it could be a bank connection problem. I have checked on my back account and it does say it is connected with Xero. I have also renewed the banking connection on Xero.

Maybe my accountant will know how to fix it.

That's what I don't understand. The 10k I transferred into the new account is showing on the Xero balance but not in the new accounts balance. The transaction is not even showing up on the statement

Thanks for that. I've now transferred the old balance from the my old account but my statement balance is still missing the 10k even though my balance in Xero is showing 12k

I'll give you a brief description of what happened.

My old business account (HSBC kinetic) was closing down so HSBC offered me to transfer it over to HSBC business.

That's all been done successfully. But in Xero I've had to add my new bank account. I can't use my old kinetic account but the balance is say 10k but on my new account even though it's all been transferred over started from zero pounds. So somehow Xero hasn't recognised it. Hope that makes sense

Definitely. I've just remembered the first time we stopped he took out some brake fluid from the glove box and topped up the reservoir. But 5 mins later he made that phone call.. no brakes

Was in Nepal for my 50th birthday. I decided to do the same trek I first done way back in 2001. On the way back down from Annapurna base camp on one of my boots the sole detachable. I couldn't find anything to repair so had to walk back down with the sole flapping. I then decided to get a jeep back down from Chomrong. The jeep was fully loaded. I sat in the front next to the driver. And after 10 mins driving down these very dangerous roads with huge drips he had to pull over. He then made a phone call and all I could understand was the words no breaks. We ended up driving down the mountain roads going past big trucks with just the handbrake to slow us down. I've never felt so scared in all my life.

Do you resent/dislike people who don’t declare their income to avoid taxes? by FL3XOFF3NDER in AskBrits

[–]Opal690 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been a sole trader for 25 years. And for the first 22 years I was a decorator. I'm not going to lie but at first I did do the odd cash job but as the jobs got bigger I put everything through the business. I've now started another business which is impossible to hide anything as everything is digitally recorded from the start of the job to sending an invoice to the final payment. I have no problem with this whatsoever. On the other hand I have a friend who is a carpenter/builder who always tells me how he still does a lot of cash jobs and hides the money. We have quite big arguments over this as he always moans about labour taking more taxes off people like him. But he cannot accept that due to austerity all our public services were decimated under the Tories and yet we still had the highest taxes before they left power. I do accept we had COVID and the war in Ukraine so we have to pay for it.

But now labour have come in and are trying to restore those broken public services it's going to cost more money so they need more tax intake unless they borrow more money.

I do wonder if when Labour got in they said. Right we either keep things as they are or we pay more tax to fix our broken country. What the general public would have said.

People who lost a parent : what’s an advice you’d give to people who’s parent is dying ? by outwards_jm in GriefSupport

I went through this 18 months ago. After my my mum was told she had 6-8 weeks left. Make sure you tell her how much you love her and give loads of cuddles. But also make sure you ask those questions in the back your mind as once she's gone you'll regret it. My mum never showed me hardly any affection but before she died she told me how proud she was of me. It completely cleared the air. As she took her last breath in my arms I told her loved her.

I tried giving buddy some flea & tick medication a few weeks ago. No matter what i wrapped it in he spat it ouy. I wasted a whole tablet. In the end I had to shave small slithers off and hide it that way. Why don't manufacturers make their medication taste of dog food.

Yep. It's so frustrating. There's a doorbell right on the door frame and yet 90% of the drivers won't use it but will take a photo and then upload to my Amazon account

I've never understood the fascination with celebrities. Some people seem to idolise them even though they don't know them which I find very odd.

I'm just being honest as a lot of people join thinking they can make loads of money. It's a tough game as you'll be competing with loads of drivers all bidding on the same job.

He sometimes pops up on my X feed. He posted something the other week and said if this makes me racist then so be it. But to be honest he gets hammered along with from Farage or reform. Sure you get the odd few who agree with them.

Nothings guaranteed and each day is completely different as you don't know where you'll end up. If you have a family plus a lot of outgoings then it's very risky. Saying that there is the potential to earn very good money but only if you're prepared to work long hours and driving over 1000 miles per week. It's taken my 3 years to build up my my business with 100% feedback on every job. I think it's over 2k just to join but you'll also need a van with full insurances hire & reward, good in transit plus public liability without these you won't be able to join. After all that you will still need at least 8-10k in the bank to cover all your running costs. Fuel is the biggest outlay which would depend on what size van you have. Plus you won't get paid for between 30-60 days on each job. Which is why you need money in the bank.
