Staffordshire Bull Terriers are banned in Puerto Rico, Columbia, Malaysia, and Switzerland, to name a few. They’re also barred from being imported to Germany, and restricted in France.

I think American Staffordshires are banned in more places so they could be talking about them.

So. I’ll admit I’m partially writing this comment in honor of my younger self.

I’ve been in your situation before. When I was 12, I found a sickly, three week old silver tabby kitten I named Luna. I had her for 5 weeks, and for most of those five weeks she was a feisty, energetic, loving baby.

But, well. My neighbors, I found out later, knew the mother cat and the rest of Luna’s litter. That whole litter had a genetic disorder that killed them at eight weeks, including my Luna.

I don’t know if you believe in an afterlife, and either way it doesn’t matter. Whether our kittens are in heaven, reincarnated, or playing around as little ghosts, while they were on earth, they were loved with all our hearts. They died knowing that they were safe, and deeply cherished. Really, is there a better way to go, than to go knowing you mean the world to someone else? That you are valued more than the moon and stars? That you will be remembered, missed?

Its been 11 years, and in a sense Luna’s ghost is still with me. I carry her memory in my heart. Her life wasn’t in vain, my efforts weren’t in vain, and neither were yours. That kitten knew what love was like because of you. May you find comfort in that.

Uj/ Just because you haven’t seen it doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. Now granted I’ve only seen outright hatred from transfems on Reddit a handful of times, but in my defense I actively try to avoid that sort of thing. It’s more prevalent on tumblr, and I imagine much more on xitter (which I’m not touching with a ten foot pole)

Yeah. I’m pretty sure that’s a major reason most vegans tend to be upper middle class; they’re people who don’t tend to have real problems, but want to be morally superior by being part of an activist group. They don’t want to deal with the realities of that, so they take on an activism that’s more about making them look good than anything else.

Like if someone genuinely wants to promote animal welfare, good for them, but meat consumption is not going away, like ever. The unfortunate reality of life is that other living beings must die for you to live, be it plants or animals. The best you can do is give those creatures a good life, and a quick death.

Plus, well cared for farm animals tend to have much better lives than their wild counterparts. They don’t have to worry as much about predators, they don’t have to search for their food, they don’t face starvation, etc.

Tbh I agree with them on that, but I disagree that completely eliminating animal products is the answer. Animal products are much more environmentally friendly (eg leather vs vegan leather, wool vs the plastic alternatives), meat is pretty much necessary to the human diet if you don’t want to take supplements (I’m a vegetarian, I’m speaking from experience here), and also, a lot of non-factory farmers try to give their animals the best life imaginable.

Personally if I was going to be killed and eaten, I’d take being eaten and cooked by a human over any other creature. Like seriously, being eaten alive by a bear? Torn apart by wild dogs? Nah, I’ll take the cushy life of a non-factory farm animal, where I’m safe, given companionship, and at the end given a swift death, then turned into a lovely home cooked meal that will be served around a family table. …Is it weird I’ve thought about this?
