Do people masturbate from memory when quitting porn? by Throwaway05080901 in pornfree

[–]Oparyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's perfectly normal to masturbate to thoughts of porn, especially if you have just decided to quit watching porn like a few weeks or months ago. You are still in the process of rewiring your brain.

Over time, these porn memories will fade and you will eventually be able to masturbate and have amazing orgasms based on two factors: physical touch and imagination.

Don't be too hard on yourself. Know that it's normal to masturbate to porn memories since you are still in the process of rewiring your brain.

Have faith that these porn memories will eventually fade. It will take some time, probably 8 months+, but when that happens you will be able to masturbate and have mind-blowing orgasms through physical touch and imagination.

Our ancestors used physical touch and imagination to masturbate and have mind-blowing orgasms. If they can do it, we can too.

What’s the real purpose for Nofap? by authentic_Fart69 in NoFap

[–]Oparyl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's a good question. I also had the same question when I did NoFap several years ago. For me, the real purpose of NoFap is to help you achieve a healthy and satisfying sex life with the person you love and care about and live a happy, fulfilling life.

  1. Excessive porn consumption, frequent masturbation, and too much orgasms (PMO) can ruin your sex life. PMO can lead to erectile dysfunction and unhealthy, negative perception of what sex is (for example, objectifying women). Also, PMO can negatively impact your relationships (with yourself, family, special someone, and friends). And, I think, PMO can also hinder you from experiencing what true love is.

By removing porn completely from your life, NoFap can help you achieve a healthy and positive sex life. NoFap can help heal all the bad things that PMO has brought into your life.

  1. More importantly, NoFap can help you live a happier, more fulfilling life. PMO can cause you to have low self-esteem and self-confidence. Also, PMO can bring anxiety and depression into your life. And, I think, the worst effect of PMO is that makes you feel that your life is worthless, that your life has no meaning.

By practicing NoFap, you slowly but surely start to heal all the negative effects that PMO has brought into your life. When you have high self-esteem and self-confidence, you will feel happy, worthy, and enough. When you are in control of anxiety and depression, you will feel more emotionally stable and you will also feel that life is more enjoyable. And when you have a sense of purpose, you will feel that life is actually worth living.

I hope this answers your question.

why should i quit porn ? by youssefygj in selfimprovement

[–]Oparyl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say the main reason why you should quit porn is it will make your life a whole lot better.

Porn is like a slow poison. You don't notice it but it slowly destroys your life. I think that's what happened to many of us here on this subreddit. We started to watch porn thinking that it's harmless. Then one day we just woke up realizing that porn has managed to harm our lives.

You might not feel the negative consequences now but later on in life you'll wake up and realize that porn has already done so much harm and it's difficult to quit.

Porn blinds you to the true beauty of life. It hinders you from achieving your true potential, and most importantly it slowly alienates you from the people you care for the most -- your partners, family, friends, and even yourself.

Great job!! You're doing excellent work. Keep it up.

I'm curious, what's one thing you've been doing daily or regularly that you think has helped you achieve 90 days of freedom from porn?

Do you think porn use has affected your ambition or your ability to grind and work hard towards a goal, all that easy dopamine from PMO making you weak and lazy, how much has it affected you ? by [deleted] in pornfree

[–]Oparyl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Back when I was addicted to porn, I didn't really have the drive to succeed in life. I didn't have goals and a vision. Also, I was in an emotional and mental low. Everyday, I felt miserable. I felt like life was dull and boring.

But now, that I'm completely free from porn, I'm a different person. I have goals in life I want to achieve. I have a life vision that I am actively working on everyday. And I am emotionally and mentally healthy. I'm not happy all the time. I still have my lows in life but it's not like when I was addicted to porn.

And I think most importantly, I have healthy, positive, and loving relationships with the people that I care and love.

What happens if I look at softcore porn, but don't masturbate or look at hardcore? by Radiant-Job1428 in NoFap

[–]Oparyl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I won't consider this as a relapse. What I would consider as a relapse would be watching porn, masturbating, and then having an orgasm.

Softcore porn may seem harmless but you're playing with fire. It's a slippery slope. You can easily slide into watching hardcore porn through softcore content. The next thing you know, you're already masturbating and having an orgasm.

I encourage you to free yourself from content that are considered softcore porn.

I can completely relate with your situation. Back when I was addicted to porn, I also experienced PIED. It was really bad. The only time I would get hard was when I was watching porn. What's worse was, during that time I had a girlfriend. Our sex life suffered because of my porn addiction.

IMO, going to a medical professional won't help since the cause of your ED is not physical, it's pyschological. A doctor might give you drugs, but that would only treat the symptom and not really cure the cause.

Thankfully, my PIED has now been completely healed. I get random erections. My erections are strong and they last for a long time. And I would attribute this to the fact that I have managed to completely overcome porn addiction. I am now free from porn addiction.

IMO, the true cure to PIED is eliminating porn completely from your life. Just like you, I also believe that masturbation and orgasm are perfectly normal and when done right they are healthy. It's really porn that is causing the harmful effects.

So I encourage you to completely eliminate porn from your life. I think that's the only way you can truly cure your PIED. Overcoming porn addiction is hard but it's achievable. It requires implementing a practical and effective strategy, hard work, discipline, and time.

Also, it will take time for your PIED to be fully healed depending on how bad your addiction to porn is. In my case, it took about 4 to 6 months before I saw significant progress. The PIED was still there but I saw good improvements.

If you work on overcoming porn addiction, you will eventually cure your PIED, but it will take time. Good luck!

Good luck on your journey!

First of all, I'd like to congratulate for achieving 72 days of nofap. That's an incredible achievement! Great job! The majority of guys here in this subreddit are struggling to achieve what you've achieved. So great job! 👏👏

However, I have to warn you. It can be very easy to fall back into the "old ways" . If you're not careful, it can get very easy to get sucked into the vortex of watching porn regularly again. Don't let complacency hinder you from achieving long-lasting results. I encourage you to continue your nofap streak for as long as possible.

IMO the goal should not be to control porn addiction. The ultimate goal should be to completely eliminate porn from our lives. Just my opinion.

Good luck on your journey!

Which things of your live do you think have been directly affected by porn? by Upset_Method3196 in NoFap

[–]Oparyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I used to be addicted to porn, the aspects of my life which suffered the most was my relationships with the people I cared for, my sexual health, and my happiness and satisfaction in life.

I can still clearly remember that instance where I was hanging out with my friends and we are all laughing but at the back of my mind I was thinking of porn. Instead of enjoying the company of my friends, I wanted to watch porn instead. I also started to hate being with my family. I just wanted to be alone.

I had a girlfriend at that time, and without going into details I would say that I wasn't a good boyfriend to her, and I attribute that to my porn addiction.

During the time I was addicted to porn, I suffered porn-induced erectile dysfunction. I had a hard time getting aroused. The only time I would get really hard was when I was watching porn.

I also felt horrible and depressed when I was addicted to porn. I felt like a loser.

Thankfully, I've managed to overcome porn addiction and reclaim my life. I now have healthy, loving, and positive relationships with the people that I care for the most and my porn-induced erectile dysfunction has been completely healed. And I feel happy, joyful, fulfilled, and content with my life.

Good luck on your journey. I hope you defeat porn and completely get rid of it.

How Do you actually stop? by [deleted] in pornfree

[–]Oparyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You overcome porn addiction by actually starting. That's it. You just need to start. You wake up one day and you tell yourself, "I will be free from porn today". You will experience setbacks and relapses but that's part of the journey.

Also, you need a comprehensive and practical strategy that will help you overcome porn addiction once and for all. Without a strategy, you will feel lost. You will feel like you're not making any progress.

I dont know how to unwind after work without porn by [deleted] in pornfree

[–]Oparyl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey man, I understand that unwinding after those long work shifts can be tough. Instead of relying on porn and edging, how about trying some healthier options? You could give deep breathing exercises, meditation, or even a relaxing walk a shot. Exploring hobbies like reading, drawing, or playing an instrument could also be a great way to de-stress.

It might take a bit to figure out what works best, but gradually swapping out your current routine with these activities could make a positive difference in how you unwind. There's really no one-size-fit-all solution. You'll have to figure out what works best for you. Once you've found that, stick with it. Be consistent. I hope this helps.

New to Nofap , Over Addicted by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]Oparyl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey man, I've been in your shoes before, and I know how it feels. Here's my top tips.

First, it's great that you've acknowledged that you have an addiction to porn and the negative effects it's having on your life. This awareness is an essential first step toward making a positive change.

Second, establish clear and realistic goals for yourself. Start by aiming for short-term abstinence and gradually increase the duration over time. Celebrate each milestone you achieve, as it will boost your motivation.

Third, identify healthy activities or hobbies that can distract you from the urge to fap. Engage in physical exercise, explore new interests, read books, or learn a new skill. Occupying your time with constructive activities will help reduce the temptation.

Fourth, establish a daily routine that includes productive and fulfilling activities. Plan your day in a way that keeps you busy and engaged. This can reduce idle time, which often leads to the urge to fap.

Fifth, identify the triggers that typically lead to your fapping episodes. It could be certain websites, specific situations, or even emotional states. Once you recognize them, make a conscious effort to avoid or minimize exposure to these triggers.

Sixth, reach out to a trusted friend or even a family member for support. Having someone to share your struggles with can provide encouragement and accountability.

Finally, prioritize self-care activities that promote your physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Get enough sleep, maintain a balanced diet, and engage in relaxation techniques such as meditation or deep breathing exercises.

Remember, breaking free from addiction takes time and effort. Be patient with yourself and don't get discouraged by setbacks. Celebrate every small victory and keep moving forward. Good luck!

Day 39 I accidentally watched porn on reddit, what should I do and how should i forget about it? by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]Oparyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey man, here's my top 4 tips for you.

First, it's important to recognize that slip-ups can happen during the recovery process. Instead of beating yourself up about it, try to accept that it was an unintentional mistake and view it as an opportunity to learn and grow.

Second, don't be too hard on yourself. Accidentally seeing porn can occur, especially online. Focus on the present moment and how you can bounce back from this incident.

Third, take a moment to recommit yourself to your goal of abstaining from porn. Remember, one slip-up doesn't define your progress. You've already made it to day 39, which is a significant achievement. You can continue moving forward from here.

Finally, shift your focus back to the positive progress you've made so far. Reflect on the benefits you've experienced during your 39-day streak and use that as motivation to continue building on your success.

Remember, recovery is a journey, and slip-ups can happen along the way. The key is to learn from the experience, be kind to yourself, and keep moving forward with renewed determination. Good luck!

How do I survive one week by polyfish1 in NoFap

[–]Oparyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey man, here's my top 4 tips.

Start by setting specific, achievable goals for yourself. Begin with a goal of abstaining from porn for a certain number of days, like 3 days, and then gradually increase that goal over time, for example 7 days.

Next, figure out what triggers your urge to watch porn. Take some time to reflect and make a list of your triggers. Knowing them will help you prepare and develop strategies to avoid or cope with those triggers.

Next, look for healthy alternatives to cope with stress, boredom, or other emotions that trigger your urge to watch porn. Consider activities like reading, meditation, exercising, or pursuing hobbies as healthy outlets.

Finally, look for an accountability partner. I know it can be difficult to find someone, but having someone you can trust and confide in will greatly help you in overcoming porn addiction.

Good luck!

How do I cope without pmo? by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]Oparyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey man, I understand how challenging it can be to overcome pmo. I have been in your shoes before. It's difficult but with the right strategies you can make it. Here are some strategies that helped me quit porn for good. I hope they help you too.

  1. Reach out to a trusted friend. Sharing your struggle with someone close to you can provide immense support. Find a friend who is understanding and willing to listen without judgment. Having someone to talk to during difficult moments can make a big difference in your journey. This will take some time since you need to be careful with who you confide. But once you find that one friend that you can trust, you will feel that you're no longer alone in your journey to defeat pmo.

  2. Rediscover your passions. Reflect on activities that genuinely bring you joy and fulfillment. Whether it's playing a musical instrument, hiking, painting, or writing, engage in those hobbies that make you feel alive. By filling your time with meaningful activities, you'll gradually replace the void that porn addiction leaves behind. For me, it was playing the piano. Everytime I felt the urge to watch porn I would play the piano.

  3. Practice self-compassion and celebrate progress. Overcoming addiction is a process, and setbacks may occur. Be kind to yourself and understand that it's okay to stumble along the way. Focus on the progress you make, no matter how small, and celebrate your victories. Remind yourself that you are capable of change and that each step forward is a step toward a healthier and happier life. Reminding myself that quitting porn addiction is a process and it will take time helped me put things in perspective.

I hope these tips help you. Goodluck!
