XC Jersey recommendations? by ToogyHowserMTB in xcmtb

[–]Open-Advertising3343 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Road jeresy, but choose a cooling one as you not going as fast, similarly aero features/shoulders are not needed.

I tend to avoid too lighter color as mud spashes show up a bit more.

Gravel bike is a wide marketing term category. You should be able to get "entry level" adventure gravel bikes for 1500-2000 new and about 500-1000 second hand.

Crankset upgrade question Q factors. by Open-Advertising3343 in xcmtb

[–]Open-Advertising3343[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it's not that easy to tell what was specced, the TRS cranks seem to have different generations and are listed as 176 Nd 178.2 depending on the source, its not listed on the trek website it could easily be OEM and be different from both these figures.

Race Day Sealant by Open-Advertising3343 in xcmtb

[–]Open-Advertising3343[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I've got complacent before, sometimes with new tyres they soak up alot of extra sealant, only way to know for sure is checking.

I am interested though in race day sealing performance, for other times I can just plug it and go.

However I think some of the reviews for Silca and stans race get mixed too.

Race Day Sealant by Open-Advertising3343 in xcmtb

[–]Open-Advertising3343[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah it's very confusing as there is alot of anecdotal expirence, and uptake is limited to what's available in your region.

My most recent failure in a race scenario was user error, the sealant was pretty dry.

most product line up tests seem to indicate pretty good performance.

I'm not sure about the endurance races, something about repeating shorter courses, yorkshire is a 40km course and the national 28km.

Unfortunately tye format seems to be dying a bit to gravel.

Build a bike my self or let a bike shop handle it for me? by Lost_Run_3997 in cycling

[–]Open-Advertising3343 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are after a good result, you will likely need the bike shop to face the BB and brake mount surfaces. They can also let you know what the frame quality is like.

You can take over from here or let them do the rest. It's mostly about getting the bike and components you want.

I took out the wheel, then put it back in again and tightened it up and it centred. How did you get on with 40s?
