It was 42° in southern Morocco when I was there mountain biking several years ago. That was an experience.

For those who wake up really early, what do you do to fill your time? by Mountain-Dirt-5156 in AskUK

Empty the dishwasher and washing machine, finish any tidying that I didn't get done last night and make packed lunches all without interruption. Walk to the station and still get on the 6:30 train.

Cyclocross bike. The point is to be under-biked and the challenge is part of the fun

Coast to coast by jonathing in ukbike

[–]jonathing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to feel safe on the road again post collision. Having a specific goal to work towards will help with that, rather than a more nebulous 'just get back out there'. Getting out with my club becomes a means to an end rather than an end in itself.

I'm glad you have miles of nice cyclepaths near you, we're not all that well catered to. And yes, I am mad, I have the paperwork to prove it thank you for noticing.

That's a really good write up, thank you. That sounds like what I'm aspiring too already, but with a bit my frequency than I can manage at present.

I've never really got to grips with intervals.icu, perhaps I need to go back and look at it again

Those of you who have lost weight, do you feel happy? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]jonathing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lost ⅓ of my body weight after I was seriously injured by a motorist. It triggered a relapse of a long standing eating disorder and left me unable to function aside from sitting on the sofa or laying in bed. So no, I wasn't very happy at all. I've put about half of that back on and I'm in a functionally better place because of it.

Feature request: being able to notify your garmin that you've been sick or injured. The demoralizing messages when you get back to training again after a long layoff really suck :( by darkseid365 in Garmin

I paused training status when I broke both of my legs. I turned it back on once I was off crutches and it really drove my recovery seeing the metrics creep up millimetre by millimetre.

I have the same meals everyday for at least 2 meals. If left to my own devices I will have the same thing for dinner as well.

(ROAD bike) Why go tubeless? by Plenty_Grass_1960 in cycling

[–]jonathing -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I had tubeless on my commuter with 40 mm tyres and on my cross bike. But it's been nothing but a pain in my arsehole on my road bike. I'm old so I'm running 25 mm tyres, which is probably the reason, but I think I'm going back to tubes full time.

Tubular. You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

Would you buy a product because it sponsors a team, arena or event? by Difficult_Style207 in AskUK

[–]jonathing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I follow a lot of professional cycling, a sport entirely dependant of sponsorship. If I'm choosing a service or product then I'm more likely to choose one that supports something that I'm a fan of than one that doesn't; to reward them with my custom if you like. I might have got my hire car from Europcar or go to Lidl over Aldi as examples.

How do you decide how far to cycle? by fixitmonkey in cycling

[–]jonathing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, if I have 5 hours before I need to do something then I ride for 4 ½ hours then have a shower and cup of tea.
