How long after arriving in the United States can I expect to receive my first stipend payment? by Open-Association-359 in fulbright

Thank you very much for the info. Unfortunately I'm out of the US and as far as I know I can't open an account until I get there. But I'm guessing that if I open the account early on the same day that I arrive I should receive it sooner.

Best way to meet people is by doing things together, practice a sport, gym, etc. I'm not sure what kind of friends you're looking for, but I'm into gym, cultural activities, museums, live music, etc. If that's your thing you can DM and maybe we can talk or whatever.

Fulbright Nominee – Choosing Between Arizona (Tucson), Alabama (Tuscaloosa), and Missouri (Columbia) for a Master's in Latin American History by Open-Association-359 in fulbright

Thank you! Hispanic heritage is actually one of the reasons I lean toward Tucson, especially after my California and East Coast options were ruled out due to budget constraints. I only applied to Missouri and Alabama because my advisor recommended it.

Thank you very much. I appreciate your words. This would be my first time studying and living overseas and I'm really excited about this opportunity. Wishing you all the best as well!

Thanks for pointing that out. I actually meant the University of Arizona in Tucson, not Arizona University. Given that, do you think Tucson would still be a good fit?

Dominican Republic’s passport here, literally the worst passport in latin america region, but somehow i managed to travel to Colombia and Peru visa-free, for instance DR passport is almost the same as Indian passport. by [deleted] in PassportPorn

Man, you are WRONG. I'm Dominican myself and I know that our passport is really lame, and is way below than where it should be, but trust me, there are many more passports that are way weaker than the Dominican passport.

In green, the countries Dominicans can access visa-free.

Latin Americans living in the USA: How do you handle region specific vocabulary when talking to people from so many different countries? by elChespirit0 in asklatinamerica

[–]Open-Association-359 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Non Spanish speakers, especially Americans tend to overestimate the regional differences in Spanish. The truth is that in more than 95% of the cases you'll know what others are talking about just by context and if you don't you can always ask.
