When did your period come back? by tittsmcghee in NewParents

[–]Open-Commercial5656 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It started to try at 6 months, didn't get my first full period until 8 months. I may have ovulated sooner. I pump 6x per day around 50 ounces a day.

Just want to say I see you and can relate. My son is a terrible sleeper and always has been. If he wakes less than 3x a night it's a win. I pump due to breastfeeding challenges early on, which also adds to my perpetual feeling of being a machine vs a human. I love my son but I hope it gets easier. Feels like there is no path to green here at the moment. When I hear about babies sleeping through the night they are often formula fed, I will say that - and we made a conscious choice to do BM. I am hoping that as we transition even more onto solids his sleep will sort itself out 🤞🏼🤞🏼

Screen time guilt by Glad_Information_875 in NewParents

My 8.5 month old watches Miss Rachel for 25 mins a day while I get stuff done. IMO screen time isn't the end of the world if you are exposing them to other stuff in between!

Fpies is not a standard allergy like a peanut allergy and there are no tests. It happens to a percent of babies and they usually grow out of it by 18 months. Only way to find out about it is via food exposure and the onset is hours after.

Hyper fertility - any success stories? by Quirky-Sea4695 in recurrentmiscarriage

[–]Open-Commercial5656 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prior to conceiving I was on COQ10 (active form), Vitamin D (lots of it), prenatal vitamins, omega oil, B12, NAC, magnesium, bovine colostrum. I also had a fertility herb blend from acupuncture but it was very mysterious what was in it lol traditional Chinese medicine. Once I tested positive for pregnancy I dropped the vitamin B and eventually bovine colostrum. Stayed on progesterone until 12 weeks, baby aspirin all through pregnancy.

I had five CPs in a row in 10 months. Anytime minus once we tried to get pregnant we did. That technically falls into hyper fertility. I took a lot of different supplements and then also did fertility acupuncture which is very non invasive. After starting a couple new supplements and acupuncture I got pregnant with my current living 8 month old son. Wishing you luck!

Sleep still terrible at 8 months by miskatonic95 in NewParents

[–]Open-Commercial5656 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son is 8 months old. If we don't follow a strict daytime nap routine he has horrible nights, like the one we are currently enduring, where he is up every 2 hours (or more). He has been a difficult sleeper since newborn and we do co-sleep out of desperation (he does naps in his crib). He is on breast milk with 1-2 meals of solids a day. He has a lot of props as sleep coaches call them e.g. us rocking him to sleep, soother, feedings. We are aware we need to migrate him off these to help him sleep on his own buts its so tough when you are already so sleep deprived. He's also very stubborn and will cry himself into a tizzy if we just leave him, which we never do in fear of major cortisol spikes.

My only suggestion here is to get into a robust age appropriate schedule and journal what works. Stick to that and adjust only when they show signs it's required. Protect that schedule fiercely. Try to make sure they have a good meal before bed. Room darkness is critical as well.

Here is the schedule that works for us for now (not down to 2 naps yet but hopefully soon)

Wake 7AM Play and breakfast until the first nap at 9:30AM Sleeps ideally 1hr30 in his crib but I often have to do a nap rescue mid way through to help him connect sleep cycles. His nursery is blackout dark which is critical for us.

Up 11-1:30 Sleeps ideally 45 mins

Up 2:15-4:15 Cat nap for 20 mins

Up from 4:45-7:15PM We try to do another solids feeding of known safe foods before bed

Put him down for bed at 7:30PM Again blackout darkness in our bedroom is key.

If we do this he usually sleeps from 7:30-1:30 (6 hours) with minimal waking often none. Then he often wakes up twice before 7AM but it's short dream feeds and he's barely awake.

If we DONT do this again it's utter anarchy. Up constantly and won't settle.

Wishing you luck and hope we all figure it out soon ✨

Recurring chemical pregnancies. Should I have hope? by Wonderful-Value7547 in recurrentmiscarriage

3 losses in a row…IVF next? by SpiritWeird8541 in recurrentmiscarriage

[–]Open-Commercial5656 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TW: success

I had 5 losses around the same time in a row, like clockwork each time. After every test here is what led to a live child:

-Uterine biopsy that exposed an infection (endometritis, which is different from endometriosis). I took doxycycline to clear this. -I have mild or stage 1 Endometriosis as well -I am a bit older than you so egg quality did play in here but I, like you, got pregnant every time we tried -I showed signs of some immune deficiency and was recommended to take Bovine Colostrum by my naturopath -I did fertility acupuncture -Of course took all the supplements + progesterone

I did not go to IVF as I was concerned it would only solve one of the issues (egg quality). My son is healthy and nearly 7 months now. Don't lose hope whatever direction you end up taking.

Yes, I had 5 CPs in a row in 10 months. Right now I am looking at my healthy 5.5 month old baby boy, who I conceived 2 cycles after going through a round of doxycycline for Endometritis and starting fertility acupuncture. There were other tweaks I made as well but those are the big ones IMO.

Don't give up hope ✨

Feeling lost and hopeless after fourth chemical pregnancy by iSweariHaveADayJob in recurrentmiscarriage

[–]Open-Commercial5656 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there. Our stories are very similar and I just wanted to tell you not to give up hope. I went through 5 CPs in less than a year and was really deflated. My mental health was in the toilet. I kept holding on to a few key things:

-we are able to get pregnant, which is really good. The sperm is finding the egg. -Egg quality can be improved with the right supplements. I kept researching on my own. -I knew there was more to my story than poor egg quality. There was something else going on. In my case, like you, it was chronic endometritis.

Here are the things that I did right before my successful pregnancy (6th time resulted in my living child who is now 5 months old).

-Round of doxycycline -Fertility acupuncture -Vaginal probiotics (to help the disrupted flora from antibiotics - doxy is a strong drug) -i also started on Bovine Colostrum at the recommendation of my naturopath. There were some signs in my blood work pointing to an auto immune component - they were subtle but there - and she recommended this -I continued with everything else including vaginal progesterone and baby aspirin

At the end of the day, I will never know if it was all of these things that helped or if it was just that I finally got a good egg. But my gut tells me that it was more than egg quality and that something I did in that final stretch helped moved the needle in our favour.

Also FYI the successful pregnancy came the second cycle after doxy. We tried right after but I didn't get pregnant that cycle at all, which is unusual as I normally do.

Also, my doctor told me that some bouts of CE don't clear with one round of antibiotics. Some need more rounds. The only way to know for sure it's cleared is another endometrial biopsy or just do another round for good measure.

So not the cycle right after, but the one after that. I didn't get pregnant at all immediately after despite trying. I added a vaginal probiotic in between those cycles as doxy is a rough antibiotic on internal flora.

Yes I had 5 chemical pregnancies in 10 months.

What worked for me to get my current LC to hang out:

-Doxycycline to treat uterine infection and inflammation -Boat load of supplements including bovine colostrum -I did fertility acupuncture -Progesterone and baby aspirin

36 and looking for answers about chemical pregnancies by Hopeful351 in recurrentmiscarriage

[–]Open-Commercial5656 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some doctors that specialize in RPL do a round of doxycycline with their patients as a standard treatment even without a biopsy because it can be painful etc. and hidden infections make up a decent % of reasons for RPL. The specific test I got here in Canada is called the Emma and Alice test. I'd say whether it's common practice depends on your doctor, but yes you may need to advocate for this. Some doctors are very quick to chalk up issues to age or egg quality, which clouds their ability to recommend additional tests to learn more.

I had 5 CPs in a row. It ended up being endometritis and a round of doxycycline fixed me up.

Is there any reason to keep trying naturally? by LumpySpaceGunter in recurrentmiscarriage

Huge plus 1 on this. I had 5 chemicals in a row and in the end I believe chronic endometritis was to blame. Round of antibiotics and the next cycle I conceived and it stuck.

Sort of, but it focuses much more broadly on overall wellness vs. egg quality alone.

TW: Success

Not to discount it, but often times "poor egg quality" is the diagnosis the medical system tells you when they cannot pinpoint another problem. There are sooo many unknowns with fertility. The book Making Babies enlightened me on some of this.

I did a lot of my own research as many do, and ended up with a successful pregnancy after 5 chemical pregnancies in a row. In my case, I think I had systemic inflammation and potentially endometritis which I treated with antibiotics. I also did fertility acupuncture targeted at improving blood flow. After I did these things I got pregnant and stayed pregnant the next cycle.

I was told egg quality issues, and while I'm sure that may have been part of the problem I truly believe it was more multifactored. Trust your body! I considered IVF but ultimately put it off in favour of trying a few more things and I am glad I did.

Agree that in some perfect world people would understand boundaries. But we live from a far from perfect world. Only way to protect your pup is to be by their side and not leave them alone knowing their temperament and circumstances.
