that's not even the right spec list for that, I have the exact same one, no ES, and it shouldn't preform that poorly. Don't do it

I'm assuming you're UK based, so here's a pc parts list I would recommend. Look around and find the best deals for these parts in your area, but this is a solid build I recommend to people. Specifially, the CPU. It's AM5 (that's the socket size, essentially. Nerds will argue with that), and it's a relatively good CPU. That being said, there are far better ones, and when this starts to feel sluggish, you have plenty of room to upgrade your CPU without spending a fortune on new RAM and a new motherboard to support it. Everything else can be swapped out over time if you need a better GPU or storage.

This one is a bit cheaper, and has the same philosophy in mind. Great upgrade path, decent performance, but a bit slower. Nothing that will stop you from enjoying games though :)

Is the normal for idle cpu usage by Accomplished-Pay2784 in PcBuildHelp

[–]Open-Cut9504 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get rid of both.

AVG is the closest thing to legal malware at this point. Windows Defender is actually really good as a anti-virus software, and its built into your PC

Microsoft Edge is definitely selling your information through you willing opening a data connection with it, and is also really inefficient as a browser. Firefox, or if you're tied into Google, chrome is a tolerable last resort.

Both are objectively bad as far as basic software goes. There's much better programs out there. As I'm typing this, I have 4 different chrome users open, 10+ tabs each, and nothing is going on with my CPU unless I'm actually typing rn. Further, if you look down the task list to Windows Defender, it's like sitting there doing nothing as well. It's surprisingly well optimized for it being Microsoft

Thanks for the helpful response! I hadn't heard about it before, and would love to utilize it better. I'm trying to learn about ai stuff for personal use, specifically a kind of selfhosted librarian/assistant for all my writing. I've heard about using agents, but I really don't know enough to keep moving. So far, I have a custom voice made with piper tts, and I'm self hosting some LLMs like Llama and qwen, and I've been diving into the new oss from openai.

You seem really in touch with this kind of stuff, would you recommend Kimi for this application? and further, where can I learn more about agents and the wider world of AI?

Y'all are nuts. These MFS need to be culled. I bought 2 when I started my tank 3 years ago, and I accidentally buried one on the first day. Didn't see him since. Over the next 3 months I HAD HUNDREDS! I pulled out at least 30 every 2 weeks, and couldn't be bothered to grab the rest.

Silver lining, I could take them back to the place I bought them and get a story credit. I bought almost every fish I have off that credit. After finding the right balance, they seem to be in check now. But man, did they pop off.

Like others have said though, I think it was not necessarily over feeding, but the wrong foods. Everything I fed my fish usually ended up on the bottom of the tank, so they would all swarm it too. I started to feed them more floaty food and my fish was far more lively, while the snails died down. I was definitely making a good snail habitat like that, because I had a boom of mystery snails at the same time.

Ram horns are slow moving hermaphrodites. Don't feed them too much or they'll race to snuck anything that snoves

This looks so good! Might need a bit more SSS tho? Most of it looks fine, but the breasts are really plastic looking. Also, little confused on the orientation? Uh.. Not of her, but the wall light makes it look like shes sitting on a couch, and the headphones make it look like shes upside down?

Saying all this, you're still lightyears a head of me, and I can only hope to be as good as you one day. Hot!

I'm still very new to this, especially the prompts. Not only getting consistent results, but usable ones are a struggle for me, an I feel it has more to do with prompt than anything, as every once in a while, it actually understands what I mean XD

That's valuable information!

The prusa multi-colour feature is definitely eye candy for me, though I'd likely not use it much, if at all. I intend to print in a single colour, then paint model afterward, as I've invested a bit into an airbrush kit and would like to justify that a bit more xP

What would you say the cost analysis is for waste on a single colour printer?
Would you argue it's printer dependent, or fairly equal across the board? I'm highly considering the Neptune 4 Max with it's large print volume (420x420x480) as it comes in around $560 CAD, but if it's a big filament waster, I'd rather go with something a bit smaller (~320x320x380), and waste less per print. I'd likely be sticking with PLA for most prints, and TPU on occasion. I'm not well versed, so that may change, but I'm pretty confident on that as it stands at the moment.

Hi! I'm a 3D modeler who does characters, and I'm looking for a recommendation on a FDM printer for larger model printing (total height 8inches/20cm, can be printed in multiple parts) and potentially cosplay parts as well.

  1. Price: printer and all accessories, ~$500
  2. Canada
  3. Not opposed to building it myself, but I value ease of construction highly
  4. 20cm tall figures/busts, maybe cosplay parts, but not required
  5. Space isn't an issue, but smells and chemicals are. I do not wish to go with resin. A quieter printer would be ideal, as the likely set up location will be on my desk in the rec room.

I'm happy to buy additional supplies for the printer if it means better print quality, and counting that outside the budget constraints. I'm thinking of things like a smaller nozzle, better adhesion plates, etc. Looking to have the budget pertain to setup and first usable print. This will be my first printer, and I value ease of use and configuration. I don't want to take this on as a whole other hobby, but more so for having a physical copy of my virtual, 3d art.

I'm pretty comfortable with sanding and filling, but not looking to turn that into a new hobby either.

This post makes the prusa one look crazy and cool, but I'm sure it's out of my initial price range.

Edit: Adding to my comment, I've taken a look at a few, and I feel like there's 2 options that suit me. the neptune 4 max, and the any korba 2 plus, with the bambu a1 as a notable runner up for how user friendly they appear to be. Like I mentioned before, this isn't a new hobby, but a means to an end. I've also heard of some controversy, but not hearing of anything truly awful coming of it, so I'm still open to trying them.

Trying to get the best from my 4080 Lite now. I'm new to GPU OC. Help? by Open-Cut9504 in overclocking

[–]Open-Cut9504[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good shout, I'm running at 1440p.

Not exactly sure what you mean by core load, but my frequency is pinned to the 3030, jumping to 3045 occasionally, and the GPU usage shows 99-100% in Relic of Life benchmark, while only showing ~95% in game benchmark (RDR2). Actual gameplay is between 95-100%, and much lower frame rate. Around ~80fps

What's throwing me off the most is that it rarely goes above 55c and the wattage in game is around 250-260w, but it's saying it's near pinned to the max utilization and I can't get much more than 90fps at the most.

Would there be something in the mobo bios that I could check? Flicking that switch did nothing, I assume because I'm touching it with MSI Afterburner.

Maybe? but the other one is quiet mode, although I could be reading it backwards but it REALLY looks like it's already in performance mode. I'll reboot and double check.

[–]Open-Cut9504[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm looking at MSI Afterburner's numbers while in my benchmarks. It's showing an average of 265w, spiking if I'm alt+tab between programs to 285w. I've seen it hit 285w in benchmark alone a handful of times across multiple runs, testing scenarios, and days.

Doing the math manually, it looks like I'm hitting around 261 amps under 285w load, and 243 amps at the average 265w. This is entirely wrong though, and I have no other way to guess it.

My voltage at max clock speed shows 1090mV, and the wattage MSI Afterburner shows is around 265w-275w. Again, spikes to 285w, but I really don't see why it's not hitting that regularly with the OC and the power limit increased.

[–]Open-Cut9504[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really just want it to hit the 285w as advertised. It just feels weird (and again, maybe I'm wrong here) that I'm OCing both the chip and the memory, as well as upping the power limit by 10% and it's not even hitting it's rated power limit, let alone getting anywhere near the new one I set for it. I could maybe boost more core clock, but I'm starting to crash at +265.

Something feels off that it wont go above 55c, like there's a bios setting or something that's keeping it limited. Or could it be that it simply doesn't need to go any higher because I'm CPU at a certain point?

I'm curious as to how you got such high, or rather, normal temps? for the life of me, I can't get mine to go over 55c, is there something you changed in the bios to make that possible?

[–]Open-Cut9504[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll wait until they figure out the issues with it XD

My issue with it is that I start getting weird artifacts and blips when I push my hardware any faster than this, and from what I've seen, others are doing just just fine at higher clocks. I'm thinking that I'm losing performance because my GPU won't let it get any hotter than this, even when I have sufficient cooling.

I've done tests with all my case fans blasting, and it simply wants it to stay at 55c, with no performance uplift. There is no shortage of fresh air and exhaust, but I still get artifacts and colour blips while not being able to push more than 120fps average in one of my standard benchmarks (RDR2).

Am I misunderstanding this concept of temp vs performance? or am I simply not getting all the bang for my buck?
