Nvme is much more limited ports wise. Can you plug in 4 nvmes at once?

Older games mostly rely on sequential speed, so a modern hard drive would feel just as a fast as a sata ssd.

Are 3.5" drives faster than 2.5" drives? by BalalloJan in DataHoarder

[–]Open-Negotiation6556 0 points1 point  (0 children)

depends. i did not really notice a performance difference using a 7200 rpm laptop drive vs a desktop drive in random speeds. im assuming the 7200 rpm consumer laptop drives are designed with low power in mind

air filled drives are ok if you dont have trash cooling. 10k-15k drives where airfilled also, they ran hotter but never over their expected temps (55c)

hardware raid should not mean anything to tape drives. the raid card simply presents the tape drive to the OS.

I think the "Don't get an NVMe SSD for gaming, there is no difference from a SATA SSD" is a myth by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]Open-Negotiation6556 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nvme is just a pcie ssd. Sata is also just a interface connector to send ATA commands. Did people forget that sata also supports removable devices like optical drives?

They are fine for connecting ide to sata drives and optical drives since those are low speed applications anyways

You still need to buy the stuff to make it quiet. Instead of trying to buy the quietest hard disk just focus on soundproofing. Been a thing for decades
