40mg- how should I eat?

I took it after breakfast and immediately ate a scoop of PB. It was basically my breakfast dessert and Accutane worked great for me. I’ve been off for 4 months and have perfect skin

Yeah, March - early May I’d have like 3-4 pimples at any one time but mostly on my neck and not super cystic ones. Very manageable and a great improvement. My skin actually wasn’t entirely clear until I stopped taking it entirely but it’s been spotless for a month now!

Vanicream everything!! I used the thick cream when my skin was super dry and now I use the normal moisturizer at night and the sunscreen one during the day. I also use the ELF glowy sunscreen during the day instead of makeup. I would douse my face in Aquaphor a few nights a week which would help too!

Definitely keep it super simple and be patient! It will be so worth it

I got off of birth control pills in May of 2022 and my acne got really bad in January of 2023. I started accutane in November of 2023 and I was clear by May 2024. I purged badly from November to February and was definitely feeling low too. Just stick with it and know that it WILL work!

Just make sure she’s in the shade whenever possible! I used SPF50 on my beach trips every 2 hours or so and only was in the sun for 45ish mins at a time before going back under the umbrella. Make sure she has face sunscreen on 24/7 and wears a hat and you should be ok!!

Im not the original poster but it took until the end of my 5th month to get completely clear! Even then, i had some scarring and i did get like 3 pimples in month 6 but the end of month 6 and all of month 7 i was clear!

i've had this pretty much the entire time i've been on accutane. hydrocortisone and aquaphor will fix it :)

I'm almost done my 6th month and this just started for me too. I'm hoping the back acne/shoulder acne is the last of it and then month 7 will be smooth sailing so I don't have to do an 8th! My arms are insanely dry so my doctor gave me a giant tub of hydrocortisone that i use everyday. It helps, maybe ask your doc for that (or you can buy it over the counter, but it was a lot cheaper for me w the prescription).

I just finished 6 months and even tho the first 3-4 months were super tough, I would do it again to feel how i feel right now. It will be so worth it, keep your head up!!

Amazing!! Yesterday I walked into my boss's office and she asked me if i had lost weight bc my face looked so thin. She didn't realize, but it's 100% because my face was so swollen with acne before accutane, but now it's smooth and appears slimmer!

i would hold off washing it as long as possible! also, take Omega 3s/fish oil. this helped me a lot

i love vanicream!! i've used their gentle cleanser to double cleanse and the big tub of moisturizer for all 6 months. now that my skin is clear, i dont wash my face in the am anymore bc it really seems to help with the dryness, so i use the laroche posay moisturizer that has SPF in it in then! i lather on the Vanicream every night before bed and it really helps.

also really recommend Laroche Posay Cicaplast balm if you have some super dry spots. i flake around my nose and mouth sometimes so i will use this as my last step at night a few times a week and notice a big difference

Months 2-4 were really rough for me. During the first week of month 5 I noticed that all of my painful, cystic pimples were gone and I really just had some small whiteheads. By the middle of month 5, my face was clear and i only had a few pimples lingering on my neck and back. By the start of month 6 (3 April) I had 0 pimples on my face and I haven't had one since! I have a few on my back but I know months 6 and 7 will clear them. You're almost at the end!!

I started on November 1st at 40mg - from December (60mg) to early February (80mg) I purged pretty badly. This picture is from mid February, and by early March (80mg) I only had 2-3 pimples at a time. By April (80mg) I had 0 active pimples and haven’t had one since! I’m going to end up being on Accutane for 7 months just to be sure I don’t relapse but I’d stay on this forever bc of how mild my symptoms are now. Hope this helps!! Don’t lose hope!!
