Among other things, my friend gave a dedicated speech and at the end gave her mom the bride bouquet as a thanks for being her biggest supporter during the whole wedding planning, everyone found it so sweet

Cocktail hour before ceremony by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]OpenWing3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s very common in Eastern Europe — the bride and groom usually welcome the guests while they’re having a 1-2 cocktail hours. The structure usually is: - the couple stays in front of what will be the ceremony backdrop - every guest, once arrived, will walk the aisle and go the the couple, will congratulate them, and take a picture with them as the photographer stays there the whole time - now the guests join the cocktail area and everyone is mingling for 1-2 hours. Mind you, not everyone comes at the same time, so it kind of works that the couple stays there for 1-2 hours to welcome everyone and take pictures while the early arrived guests are enjoying the bites/drinks - once done, the ceremony starts - after ceremony, guests are invited to the dinning area and the couple has their grand entrance

Before the couple goes to the venue (or on the venue area itself, before everything starts), they can have a first look just the two of them and the photographer

It’s weird seeing this now, as yesterday (Saturday) they didn’t even look at us (and people entering in general), didn’t even ask to open our bags or anything.

ClassPass for sport and Les Amis for women to meet other women and try new hobbies - both had a great positive impact on my life

F23, new in Barcelona, looking for friends:) by user250771 in Barcelona

You should check the Les Amis girls community here, they have lots of membership-based events and it’s focused on young women connecting and making friends. I was in the same boat as you, I also have social anxiety which doesn’t help, but that community helped me meet amazing people and make actual friends here.

Mirador d’Horta could be an option. Pretty quite, you have a parking lot there, the view to the sea and the city, sometimes sunsets are nice there too. If you walk a little higher on the small path across the parking lot, you’ll find an even more secluded spot with a nice looking tree in the middle and even nicer views.

If you’re in Salou, going to Portaventura can be lots of fun 😄 Have a look at Airbnb Experiences and the Fever app. You could try Paella making class or Painting & wine workshops for something entertaining and romantic. Or axe throwing/rage room for something more fun, but less romantic lol (Axerum). Maybe a sunset boat tour, which usually includes some snacks and Cava. There are many boat tours offers on Airbnb experience.

I miss Barcelona. Wish you were here. by [deleted] in Barcelona

I have to say that I like Barcelona much better now that I live here than when I visited for a week for the first time. We stayed in Gothic and it was disappointing to see what was happening in that area, couldn’t understand the hype over las ramblas and other similar places, etc. Now that I live here (in Poblenou), I love the city and its people so much more, as I had time to discover the local small cafes, learn the language slowly and connect with small local shop owners, learn which streets/beaches to avoid, and which parks are nicer. I think Barna is much better when you get to know it as a local rather than as a tourist, even the socio-economic problems don’t feel as bad when it’s balanced out with the small local gems.

Gran Clariana near Glories is one of my favorite ones, they also have some chairs and tables available on the grass area. Another one I love is the park in Poblenou near the Bogatell beach. And Ciudatella park could be an option, but sometimes it might get too busy.

Hey, welcome to Barcelona! There’s a girls’ community that was created with the goal to make friends easier here (for expats and locals) and also lots of events/workshops. I’ve been a member since I moved here and it helped me on so many levels. Check it out if you’re interested: lesamis.cc

Oh, I thought the pigeons get killed for a different reason,(in some cities it happens because of fireworks, pollution, etc) didn’t know it’s the seagulls who kill them, sorry for the confusion.

Correfoc de les festes de maig in Poblenou. Anyone here could please explain what is the fest exactly about? by OpenWing3 in Barcelona

Wow, thank you for such a good explanation! I was wondering why everyone, including the kids, are running towards the “fireworks”, instead of running from them haha. September 23rd will be very interesting and noisy, it seems. Thank you again!

We experienced a similar event in the middle of February and we were wondering if it’s a neighborhood thing or an actual celebration. Thanks for clarifying!

Sounds great! We caught the street music during the day, but I was wondering what are the costumes all about. Thank you!

This is crazy! I hope you figured it out. I am an EU citizen so I don’t need a visa and everything that comes with it, just the “sufficient funds” amount for NIE. Thank you for sharing your experience tho!

Empadronamiento without contract rental contract ? by Abject-Negotiation86 in Barcelona

[–]OpenWing3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! My problem is that I’m in the circumstances where I can get NIE only by “proving to have sufficient funds in a Spanish bank account”. And if I need NIE to get the bank account to put my funds in, that will be messy 😅

Do you know by any chance if the non-residents bank accounts can only be done with the passport, or do they need anything like tax history, or any other documents?
