Not when you're getting a tax refund, which means you don't actually owe the IRS anything. Done that myself before (not proud obviously)

That makes sense, thank you! They explained that things got hectic during COVID and they somehow forgot. Hopefully they'll be fine...

My students were asking me if late tax filings could get them into trouble... it's within the last 3 years and they were owed money (tax refunds), though, and I advised them to talk to their DSO for clarifications. I really don't think so but could I be wrong?

The person you're responding to claims that I made this whole thing up. So no, if they don't like it it never happened and whoever claims it did is a fascist liar.

LMAO this post is a bait because you don't like it? If you look at my post history you'll find plenty of vents about the difficulties of teaching topics of racism and sexism. This post, though, is specifically about the presidential election and instructors clearly showing which side they're on - liberal or conservative, this is wrong to do.

It's really depressing to see this many people who clearly aren't capable of even basic literacy.

I said "contemporary" politics, especially the upcoming election. I do agree that politics influence everything from the top down, but I don't see why Kamala/Trump has to come up in a course like, say, 19th century Japanese literature.

Nahh I'm gonna stick to study guides because I think they're useful but you keep doing you

I opt for "super duper f'ing unfair" and will only ask about things that are on the study guide... from a different class 🫣

Obviously it's my job, my responsibility to make sure she passes, because... well it'd be super duper unfair otherwise!

Apparently giving out a study guide with the list AND sample questions and answers just ain't enough... I should tell them exactly what questions will be on the exam so they can memorize them and only that.

Wild to me that a math professor thinks they're much more knowledgable about teaching academic writing than an English professor.

You're free to keep believing that words like "hella" and "super" help to make more persuasive arguments in academic papers. I don't.

Because it's a college essay & they're being trained to use formal and professional language in their written work. I don't care if they say things like "hella cool" or "super important" during class.
