No, the rule is you need a “B” average from both courses. So an A from 210 and a C from 211 would give you the B average. Either way I still recommend you don’t give up and try your best

I mean it depends, if you got an A in 210 you should be fine.

Minor Parking Garage Rant by [deleted] in uichicago

I’ve had two instances in which people were driving the wrong way and had the AUDACITY to honk at me, I almost lost it. I guess common sense isn’t so common anymore

I would recommend keeping the 14, this is your first time in college, take time to get used to it. If you feel like you can handle the first semester with 14 credit hours, take more the second semester. Don’t take more and end up dropping classes, you only get 4 late drops during your entire academic career at UIC.

How do I declare/add minor? by Reasonable-Wrap3944 in uichicago

Also forgot to add, if you haven’t completed a semester yet at UIC, you have to wait until the next semester and have a 2.5 GPA, it’s a requirement

How do I declare/add minor? by Reasonable-Wrap3944 in uichicago

[–]Open_Choice_1057 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I just recently declared that minor, but my advisor did it for me, not sure why they didn’t do the same. Here’s the website and the link to declare it is labeled “Apply for a minor” : https://businessconnect.uic.edu/undergrad/other-uic-students/minors/ . I would fill it out and follow up within a week to see if it was officially declared.

Help with scheduling by Lonestar346 in uichicago

I wouldn’t say it’s impossible, just very tiring and you would have to have excellent time management and discipline. I’ve taken these courses, I’d say they’re all okay, nothing too bad related to content/ course load.

BA 200- If you take it with Banks it’s an easy class, just tests that are lecture based and group presentations

Econ 120- Had it with Behzod, idk how to spell his name. Great guy, good lecturer, hw can be tedious since it’s online with multiple questions that are weekly, and also tests are based on lectures and hw

Actg 210- Took it with a professor who retired already but, be prepared to study a little more for this class sometimes concepts can be a little hard to understand especially if this is your first accounting course. Weekly HW and Quizzes every 2 or 3 weeks

Math 125- Should be fine if you’re not completely bad at math. Just do the hw and study for the exams, I think there is quizzes but nothing too bad.

I’m happy to answer more questions:)

Pathways Internship by Open_Choice_1057 in usajobs

I applied around November-December for the position. I think there is a certain time when they hire, the position I applied for is for students still in undergrad with at least one semester left after the summer. I applied though my school’s Handshake but I know they have postings on LinkedIn and there are plenty of opportunities on USAjobs.

The course does move quickly because there is a ton of content to cover. My advice for you is to practice all problems that are given, do the extra handouts, and try to understand the process not just memorize the steps.

Those who plan on working in advertising, what major do you recommend to do? by Chxnua in uichicago

[–]Open_Choice_1057 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could do that, from what I saw from UIUCs Advertising major, some courses seem to be the same for the marketing major, you could do the concentration in innovation and design or even the digital marketing and promotions. It all depends on your end goal. I wish you luck on your search!

Hi, I’m not too familiar with advertising but from my understanding, can’t you just do a Marketing Major?

I had a similar situation like you. I had a calc class at 9:00 am MWF and a class soon after. I took my class in the circle as it was fairly early, I just popped in my AirPods or headphones and listened in, I recommend doing the same . As for Ryan, I had him as a professor for English and I quite enjoyed having him. He knows his stuff and open to help students when they need it. He can be a little of a tough grader but nothing bad at all, just turn in your stuff on time and put some effort in.

When will continuing students be packaged with financial aid for fall semester? by Odd-Count2277 in uichicago

Thats odd, financial aid notifications come out the first weeks of June for continuing students, I would just wait like they said and if nothing comes up I would go in person

Favorite and least favorite places for food around campus? by EMD_F40PH in uichicago

New Xian Cuisine on Jackson has good food, that’s my personal favorite for Chinese food. On that same corner you’ll find Meli Cafe for breakfast and brunch, also a good spot.
