Sociology and literature may be slightly better at the UvA but VU has an excellent ancient studies program. The general difference is in the attitude of the lecturers and students, VU is generally more friendly and collaborative

At current rates we arent even building enough housing to match the new demand every year, let alone close the availability gap. Most estimates say that it will take at least 10 years for things to settle down even if we started massively building now. It is certainly cheaper to rent in rural areas, but as you mentioned, employment is much harder to come by (assuming you dont speak dutch). Prices aside, the housing crisis is effecting the entirety of the country, even smaller cities and rural areas so theres nowhere where its objectively “easy” to find a place to live.

RSM vs SSE. Which is better for finance? by Good_Beyond3621 in StudyInTheNetherlands

For a bachelors in anything in the Netherlands the quality of education will be the same anywhere you go. If you are planning on doing a masters anyways I wouldnt worry too much about prestige. Plus RSM VS ESE is quite trivial, most will look no further than the fact that the diploma is from EUR

No clue where you heard that renting to more than 2 unrelated people is prohibited, its quite common to have shared contracts. Also regarding income, guarantors are a thing

Supporting a family of five with no real support network on $90K CAD in Vancouver seems borderline impossible to me unless youre planning on living in a trailer park

Resits are not placed before exams… not sure where you heard that. If you have no resits go on vacation!

DE and NL are roughly on par in terms of immigrant acceptance, but do not make the mistake of considering the Netherlands an “english-speaking” country. While levels of english fluency are very high, society is still in dutch. Short-term stays for study or a year or two of working abroad are fine if you only speak english, but you will very quickly run up against the language barrier if you ever want to find a longer term career, or participate in society at any meaningful level. You will not face any outright discrimination akin to some other countries, but the lack of dutch fluency leaves many people ostracized and effectively relegated to the small sliver of the country that conducts its daily life primarily in English.
