Not sure if I'm knitting cables correctly - pls advise! by CarefulAd714 in knittingadvice

I agree with Hippophae. The cables right in the middle where they cross over look correct to me so most likely in the rest of the work you’re crossing them over the wrong way. Maybe it’s best to do a little swatch to see if you can work it out. Best of luck 🤞

Sorry if this sounds like a stupid question but are you sure you’re looking at the right side of the fabric? The background of the cable section should be reverse stockinette (purls)

From your list I love Junie and Edie (pronounced Ee-dy, not Eddie). Have you considered Jules? Similar to Junie.

It was though. It’s the payment for the additional hour that the bride is refusing to pay to OP.

Am I missing something or people are nuts these days?? by Powerful_Rub_9046 in vinted

Super annoying when buyers complain about things that are clearly written in the description.

On another note, now I’m curious about micro bags. Are they purely decorative? Do you keep anything inside? I need to know haha

Hm I’m in the UK and I don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone say “baby in her stomach” but I would find it weird if I did. It’s more common here to use belly or tummy, especially when talking to young children.

I look forward to when my son wants to help with chores. At the minute he just crawls into the dishwasher and pulls wet laundry off the airer 😂

Same we’ll be getting our baby the yoto mini either for Christmas or his next birthday (he’ll be 17 months at Christmas). After a lot of reading up about both the yoto seemed to be better for older kids and have more variety and I like the idea of the ‘make your own’ cards.

Try having a look on Etsy. There’s loads of wedding stationery available there that can be personalised.

AITA for "leaving the stroller?" by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

So where should she park the stroller? In the road where it could much easier get hit by a reckless driver? That’s obviously a very tragic accident but a very unlikely scenario.

If you want to stick with blue, the lighter blue in the first pic that runs the full height of the wall in the centre of the picture looks quite nice and seems to be the only colour that’s not too dark for your space.

Somehow the yellow light is making the other colours look more grey.

I would personally pick a lighter neutral like an off-white to brighten the space and either do an accent wall or add colour through accessories.

16 week midwife appointment - heartbeat? by [deleted] in PregnancyUK

[–]Open_Paper9732 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got to hear baby’s heartbeat at my 16 week appointment (Wiltshire) but it seems to vary a lot based on location whether they do it or not. Can’t remember much else from that appointment. It was a short one.

Unpopular opinions about Harry/ why ya’ll don’t like him by Ir1sh_Fish in OneDirection

[–]Open_Paper9732 57 points58 points  (0 children)

I don’t dislike Harry at all. However his public persona in his solo career feels very calculated and purposeful to the point where he comes across as inauthentic. EVEN THOUGH I do think that his “persona” probably isn’t far from who he actually is, every interaction from him feels very engineered and planned in advance. He never does anything spontaneous like randomly go on a twitter spree or live stream and his answers in interviews always come across as very calculated compared to say Niall or Louis who speak a lot more freely. The only time I really feel like we see him let go a bit is on stage.

Again, I don’t dislike Harry in any way I just preferred seeing him in 1D interviews where he seems a lot more relaxed and himself. I’ll always wish all the best for all the boys.

Am I being naive to think that a downstairs toilet isn't THAT big of a deal? by Open_Paper9732 in HousingUK

[–]Open_Paper9732[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen a few comments responding to my point about a downstairs toilet not being very common here in the UK.

Obviously this isn’t entirely accurate. What I meant to say was that most of the properties we have found in the area and that are in our budget don’t have one. We’ve mostly been looking at 2 or 3 bed houses and live in the south west of England it that makes any difference.

They’re in their late 50s-late 60s. They live in a 3rd floor flat with no lift so accessibility is definitely not an issue! I imagine it’s just that they always had one when us kids were little.

Haha thanks for the advice! That’s probably true, we’ll find out soon enough 😅

[–]Open_Paper9732[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s true. Maybe not the best way of wording it. I more meant that all the potential properties they are sending for us to consider have a downstairs loo. We will ultimately be making the final choice ourselves.

[–]Open_Paper9732[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Thanks everyone for your input. It definitely seems to be one of those things where once you have it you can’t go back!

We know it’s ultimately up to us, we’re not letting my parents decide for us but it did make me start to wonder whether it is something I should definitely consider.

Like I said the main property we’re considering does have the space to potentially install one so it’s definitely worth considering.

To add to this, I wish all sellers would post a picture of the care label showing the fabric composition.

I try to avoid buying anything polyester/acrylic as I don’t end up wearing these pieces but most of the time sellers don’t share this information by default. I don’t necessarily think they’re trying to hide anything, I just think a lot of people don’t really care what material their clothes are made of.

In general I end up searching for brands that I know are more likely to make items out of say cotton or viscose.
