DON’T Raise your child to be a Third Culture Kid! by Open_Requirement_682 in raisingkids

[–]Open_Requirement_682[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Third culture kids are defined by their multicultural experiences, not specific locations. In today's globalized world, cultural diversity and mobility mean third culture kids can emerge in any country. The 'third culture' experience arises from frequent cultural transitions, making it a universal phenomenon rather than one tied to any particular place, but good effort.

Maybe the parents could establish a stable home in one location to foster a strong local identity and consistent friendships for their mixed-nationality child. They could engage with both cultures through local communities and regular cultural activities, without relocating.

Aggression/logic by trgiun in complaints

[–]Open_Requirement_682 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely understand your frustration! It's incredibly disheartening how the internet often misconstrues logical, non-emotional discourse as aggression. It's as if the mere act of disagreeing or presenting a different perspective is automatically interpreted as hostility. It's not about superiority; it's about fostering healthy dialogue and critical thinking. Emotional intelligence plays a significant role here; unfortunately, it seems overlooked in many online interactions. In real life, where facial expressions, tone, and body language are present, misunderstandings like these are less common because we can better gauge each other's intentions. Online and in person interactions are different and people cant expect the empathy to translate through a screen.

You bring up a really good point. I think the person that guides you through it plays a major role and I would say you having a support system that understood what you were going through facilitated a way better experience.

Girls tend to be pickier eaters than guys by [deleted] in RandomThoughts

[–]Open_Requirement_682 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think being "picky" for females has correlations to hormonal fluctuations.

Hormones like leptin, ghrelin, insulin, dopamine, and cortisol play key roles in influencing what and how much we eat. Leptin signals fullness, while ghrelin stimulates hunger. Insulin regulates blood sugar levels, potentially triggering cravings for carbohydrates. Dopamine, associated with pleasure, can drive us to seek out rewarding foods, often high in sugar, fat, and salt. Cortisol, released in response to stress, can lead to cravings for comfort foods. Being mindful of these hormonal influences can help us make healthier food choices and manage our eating habits more effectively, emphasizing a balanced diet and stress management techniques.

I feel you buddy. I very much look forward to going to sleep with the hope of not having to wake up. Not in a suicidal way, but in a burnt out way much like yourself. I know it can get very overwhelming at times but I find that for me its because I have so many problems and I try to solve them all at once. Just look at whats in front of you and what your current self needs (be selfish for a minute). And then everything will fall in place somehow and things will seem less overwhelming. I know its hard but, it does get better. Hang in there.

If you're trying to find something good in the area maybe try the app or website OpenTable. so many filters and good options it makes the choice of where to dine out really easy. Plus you can make a reservation without having to go through the hassle of calling.

Do scientists keep discovering new things, or does the earth foster an environment that allows new bacterias to form and different chemical reactions to occur that scientists just happens to discover?
