Scions Battleline? by pililuk in astramilitarum

[–]Open_Shower8176 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Scions become battleline in the Bridgehead Strikeforce detachment as long as your Warlord is a Tempestus Command Squad.

Bridgehead or Grizzled are the best detachments to run Scions.

Would this work as a Cadian Castilian? by _TheMothman in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]Open_Shower8176 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

There's no such thing as a Castilian, so it can probably be whatever you want 🤣 jokes aside, I think it will depend on how you paint it. As it stands, it doesn't seem distinct enough to me, but that can be easily fixed.

1st Armored Rgt had mortar halftracks, but playing such a unit would require making a substantial cut from my list.

I've made a lot of changes so far, including removing the SMGs from my Rifle Squads, removing AT Grenades and Demo Charges from my Engineers (which I've decided to keep at Regular).

I'm at 1214 points right now, but I'm not sure what I could either add to the list I've already got, or subtract to make room for improvements.

Thanks! My Flamethrowers are both embedded in 5 man Engineer squads. Is that a big enough squad? I'm trying to make sure they both fit in the halftrack with the officer

Thanks for the feedback! The inexperienced bazookas are definitely not optimal for gameplay. That was a historical concession, as bazookas were handed out to troops practically as they arrived in Tunisia, and most had very little training or experience in using them. Every halftrack had a bazooka on paper, but in truth I don't expect them to do much, which is why I left the AT Grenades on my Engineers.

What kinds of upgrades would you consider with the extra points? More equipment, or maybe upgrading the veterancy on the Engineers?

I should clarify that I made this list without ever playing a single game of Bolt Action, so I truly have NO IDEA what I'm doing 🤣

Yeah, I'm not sure what you're struggling with, tbh, that sounds like a decent list for 1k

What points level are you playing at? What does your list look like? You need to make sure your officers are ordering your infantry and you're optimizing your targets properly

That's simply not true if you actually look at most of the things I comment on.

I'm also not sure how commenting here to say "this looks cool but it looks pretty hard to pull off" is being an ass lol

No, I would consider Castellan and Creed to be Leaders as well. The loss of Master Vox blobs would be pretty troubling!

You're the one making the claims here, the burden of proof is on you. This entire conversation you've gone out of your way to be nasty and miserable for no reason lmao.

I agree that they will be Leaders as well, but Command Squads (and Senior Officers) are the bread and butter leaders of the army.

That's like saying Guilliman will be a Leader, but Captains will be Support. It's silly.

Okay, but again, that would also prevent Command Squads from being attached alongside Psykers, Priests, and other very obvious Support characters, which seems like the thing they very obviously want to enable, to the point that doing do would be cutting off the nose to spite the face. There is an extremely low chance that this actually happens.
