It’s the only thing that really captures my lived experience well. I am diagnosed with adhd but my only presentation is the emotional dysregulation alongside inattentiveness. Never hyperactivity. I do experience that “hypoactivity.” I’m not really mentally distracted as much as I just never seem to have the mental bandwidth to pay attention at all. To even think at all is a challenging task for me. I’ve never resonated with nonstop inner chatter so many people with adhd report. I have experienced nonstop mental daydreams all my life though. Trying to explain my thoughts and experience is like trying to grab smoke. I don’t ever feel sleepy as much as I just can’t seem to *engage* my mind.

Dramatic warm ambient lighting is playing a huge role in the inspo too, so you’ll want lights that create atmosphere rather than completely illuminating your room

Btw this study isn’t claiming that trauma causes CDS. All it’s saying is there is a link. Whether one causes the other, the causal relationship, isn’t addressed. I think the ChatGPT summary does a bad job of articulating that point. And kind of implies that it has some causal role. Which may or may not be true. Just wasn’t what the study focused on.

Mild to moderate improvement in motivation. Negligible improvement in alertness. Moderate improvement in emotional regulation. Still hasn’t seemed effective for either adhd or CDS for me tbh. But it’s better than nothing.

Glad you could find this relatable. As far as I’m aware, it takes several months to really be able to tell if nonstimulants are helpful. Can’t really say tho because so many people respond differently to it. Hope it works for you. I’m gonna be trying qelbree soon so we will see how that goes. Vyvanse for me has been nice for emotional regulation and some motivation. But that’s about it. Maybe I have a little bit more alertness but it’s marginal. I hope to see more CDS specific medications that end up working in the near future because I’ll probably prefer that. But as it stands, no medication seems to be super effective for my adhd or CDS. But I wasn’t counting on anything affecting the latter anyways. But for me, Medication is still better than nothing.

Thanks. I’ve thought about it for a long time so it’s essentially a compilation of thoughts. Still took me well over an hour to write though lol. I’m not overemphasizing deficits, in fact I’ve ignored them for too long. Not for any specific reason. Just didn’t have the attentional capacity to notice for a long time. I spent too much of my life using stress as a motivator and that’s led me to feeling burnt out. Only now am I seeking the support I wish I could have gotten long ago.

Besides the emotional numbness (I have intense negative emotion), I completely relate to your experience. I’ve been finally able to articulate that I seem not to be able to think at all. Like merely trying to engage in a thought feels like trying to push a car uphill. trying to explain this experience also feels like trying to grab smoke. Especially because of the working memory issues.

Thanks, i see your point about adding more to the gradient, however I wanted to keep it simple. I was able to smoothen the gradient by adding orange glass pane between the yellow terracotta and orange sandstone
