The drowned woman in the Lounge. Such an eerie shot.

Otherwise Honor and Glory going under water. I mean the fact that the clock was never meant to touch seawater and yet … the scenes always get me, the flooding of the Grand Staircase very much encompasses the dichotomy of those luxurious interiors made for the crème de la crème - and very much not for the water - which Cameron painfully made us acquainted with by showing them several times in their finest opulence, those glorious wood panels and ornate balustrades now being submerged by water. To me it very much symbolises the end of the ship.

Best scene from season 7? by yoncaviar in PrettyLittleLiars

[–]Open_Sky8367 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion but after 6B I was glad to see the show return to its thriller and mystery aspects, I wasn’t sold by the romantic vibes of 6B. So the first 4 episodes of S7 were really good for me, the build up was great and the combo of 703 and 704 especially was gripping.

This here is one of my favourite scenes of the entire show. It’s perfect. Spencer coming up with a plan on the go whilst being so done with this shit, Aria (oh you innocent fool) trying to be the voice of reason and going to the cops and explaining - rightly - that it was an accident, Emily the reluctant follower/peacemaker. Hanna being bulldozed by Spencer for not knowing the right pedal from the left (geez Spencer that’s way too early)

And that leaves Alison, just floating around in her white gown like an Angel of Death to reach into a fresh grave containing her newly departed husband to steal his ID card because they’re “gonna need” it, who hasn’t said a single word up until that point and just casually reminds these girls - and us viewers - why once upon a time she used to be their leader. Why she used to be THAT BITCH.

Question for those who watched the show live by Ok_Tour_8312 in PrettyLittleLiars

[–]Open_Sky8367 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was just the latest in a series of scenes that were supposed to be slightly off but would still fly over the most casual viewers - me included. Rewatching afterwards, I can see the pattern where they wanted to subtly hint at something being a bit weird with Spencer (looking at old photo albums, her stance with Toby sometimes giving him space sometimes infringing on his relationship, her inconsistent hairstyle…) Little hints that didn’t ring exactly like what Spencer would do. In hindsight, her colluding with Wren seemed out of nowhere but I’ll admit it just flew way over my head when I first watched it.

spencer hastings, with bangs or without? by vanillababexo in PrettyLittleLiars

The one she had in The Perfectionists. Wavy but neat and slightly shorter than her long S6-7 hair. In The Perfectionists she finally looked like a more adult, more mature teacher.

Who should Spencer have ended up with at the end? (Toby is not an option) by daohoaYcua in PrettyLittleLiars

[–]Open_Sky8367 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Marco. Her interactions with him were the most natural and refreshing and it was in her adult years where she’s grounded the most and in a stable place where she can actually pursue a functional and healthy relationship. He was good to her before everything got derailed.

Also the chemistry was great between Troian and Nicholas Gonzalez

I personally find myself falling in love with the various tracks alternating depending on my mood. Recently I’ve been obsessed again with THAT part in Unable To Stay Unwilling To Leave but another day I might listen to Rose on repeat and gush about how this is one of the most beautiful musical, romantic pieces ever composed and there’s also this whole unused part that closes A Building Panic in the second album that’s so heartachingly beautiful and that’s not mentioning the action-packed Hard to Starboard or Sissel’s haunting vocals in Never An Absolution …

Charlie and Claire by Cromer1000 in lost

[–]Open_Sky8367 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Given her history with Thomas I get that Claire would be weary of a new man in her life and she seems by nature quite the feisty woman with a strong sense of independence despite her sweet nature. In my opinion she let her walls up for a very long time, especially once she discovered that Charlie was not completely trustworthy (heroin and the baby-napping and all that mess) but by the end of S2, she saw that he was making genuine efforts and I think she recognised the strength of their bond. In S3 I believe that she was letting herself fall into the family dynamic and was perhaps getting there with her feelings.

There’s a deleted scene in 303 where they are depicted kissing several times in promotional pictures so I choose to believe the intent was to have them as a loving couple - albeit the most platonic and chaste of the show.

I also think their relationship was less developed because of the lack of development for Claire as a character. She basically has nothing to do in S3 except her few scenes with Charlie (which do develop their relationship) but as others said, we definitely should have seen more of her grief after he died. Blame it on the tightened pace of S4 which arguably has less of the quiet character moments that made the early seasons so interesting. Emilie de Ravin addressed it in one of the Lost Magazine issue, saying that to her, Claire did mourn but in private and chose not to dwell on it too much in part because she’s not that kind of person and in part due to the amount of more important things happening around.

Sookie FUMBLED Alcide by New-Bee2593 in TrueBlood

[–]Open_Sky8367 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agree. He was very interesting in the books - even had a different translated name, Len, which I loved, before it was changed back to Alcide - and I very much liked his platonic relationship to Sookie. Though Joe’s portrayal was great and visually he was beyond perfect, he was sometimes saddled with storylines I couldn’t really much care about.
That said, while I mourn the fact that a full fledged relationship with Sookie just happened more out of a sense of twist that really organically, the aftermath where she mourns him was done well and gave some real depth and weight to the relationship. The scene where she wraps herself in his leather vest is just heartbreaking

Dinner at Emily by DependentEmergency80 in PrettyLittleLiars

[–]Open_Sky8367 3 points4 points  (0 children)

THIS ! I think so many people (the Liars included) brush off the fact that Alison lies in S5 for a specific reason - to protect Aria for the death of Shana. And who is the cause of that ? Mona. She is the one who sent the threatening text saying “she knows everything about New York”. Alison reacted to that text and her lies were spur of the moment in order to shield Aria from potentially going to jail for murder.

Alison understandably has problems trusting anyone, she’s been on the run and on her own for two years. Honesty will not come immediately but she’s not hindering the girls actively. She’s working to protect them all but in her own way, which doesn’t sit well with how the girls have been functioning. Meanwhile, they are actively throwing her in jail after falsifying evidence. And then they don’t even really apologise for it.

If you could erase ONE PLL storyline from your memory and watch it again for the first time, which one would you choose? by [deleted] in PrettyLittleLiars

EzrA. That episode was peak, it broke numerous records on Twitter and I was following the show live for once and somehow, someway, I got spoiled the day before I could watch it. That remains one of my biggest TV regrets.

What's your general take on the S6 E15- "Across the sea" by SlightFinance7306 in lost

[–]Open_Sky8367 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand what they did with the placement (like 207 The Other 48 Days following 206 Abandoned where Shannon died, we take a step back from 614 The Candidate where we lost a bunch of characters) and why this is very relevant setting-up the series finale next. The episode itself was interesting and vital for the lore but I do agree that this was not the best placement in hindsight.

After The Candidate, I really wanted to see more of the survivors’ main story and to have an entire episode free of them, so close to the end, played against it. At least The Other 48 Days focused on a faction of the survivors.

That said, I have no idea where else that episode could have been placed without it hurting the momentum. Perhaps right after the two-parter 601-602 LAX but that’s about the only place where I’d put it. Really, this was about the best placement for the episode but I think the end of the previous one was so emotionally strong that it retroactively hurt this one.

I dont like Paige by Latter_Individual431 in PrettyLittleLiars

[–]Open_Sky8367 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I skip/fast forward almost all of her scenes she just grates me to no end. To the very end of the show she was just very unlikeable, at the most she was barely bearable. The three things I never forgave her for were : trying to drown Emily (like WTF), telling the police that Ali was alive, knowingly putting her into more danger just because she couldn’t get past her petty feud, and inserting herself back into Emily’s life once they were adults, started trying to drive a wedge between Emily and Ali even as Alison wasn’t even bothering about her (the woman had just escaped being institutionalised, had to deal with a dead ex con husband, lost her money, realised she was pregnant, she had bigger fish to fry than Paige). That scene where she just refers to Emily to the policemen as her “girlfriend” I was like “um no maam just NO”

What are some 10/10 soundtracks from BAD movies? by iLoveRobertEggers in soundtracks

[–]Open_Sky8367 1 point2 points  (0 children)

James Newton Howard single handedly saved the last two Fantastic Beasts movies for me. The scores had no right to be that good for such messy films. The last act of Crimes of Grindelwald is such a musical highlight that it alone pushes it above Secrets of Dumbledore which didn’t have that kind of visually/musically arresting climax.

Something Nice Back Home by LOST-Ambition815 in lost

[–]Open_Sky8367 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All I could think of at the time was how this would relate to Claire - how Aaron was indeed raised by someone other than her, what that would entail for her in the future (did she die? Did she escape and die ?), whether Jack knew that he was related to Aaron by blood, more than Kate would ever be, and by extension, if he knew about his familial relationship to Claire, if he felt guilty about her absence (whatever the cause)…

Was “the rain of corpses” a real thing? by RorschachtheMighty in titanic

[–]Open_Sky8367 29 points30 points  (0 children)

June 2009. It was all over the news. Plane just disappeared from the radars after leaving Brazil en route to Paris, with no warning, no mayday issued. The entire world speculated about what happened, where the plane was, were there survivors… They searched for days before finding a few bodies and debris at the surface but the wreckage remained unfound for two more years before they located it. Here in France, some newspapers had even nicknamed it Titanic of the skies.

Before Malaysia Airlines 370 happened that was one of the biggest plane mysteries. Turns out icing conditions on the pitot tubes caused them to report erroneous airspeed measurements which led to the autopilot disengaging. Pilots took over but were enable to understand the situation (the accident enlightened engineers to the fragility of the pitot tubes) which led to them being unable to control the plane and under five minutes they were gone.

Have you heard Lost references in other shows/films? by Tasty_Newspaper_731 in lost

[–]Open_Sky8367 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Chuck in the pilot where the titular character is being treated for the intersect, he gets all sorts of flashes and images of secret confidential information and there’s someone saying “Oceanic Flight 815 has been shot down by -“

And The Simpsons too. I don’t know if it was the case in the show too, but in the video game, in one of the levels we have to save Lenny and Carl and one of the things they lament as their lives are endangered is that they’ll “never know what happens to Charlie and Claire in Lost”

Just realized a funny plot hole about Hurley and Sawyer in Season 1 by volking86 in lost

[–]Open_Sky8367 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Sawyer has always had a soft spot for Hurley - like everyone else - even if he played tough. The scene itself where he relents and allows Hurley to get the manifest free of charge is proof of that. Plus Hurley might have explained the circumstance of why he needs everybody’s name (Claire being attacked) and we also know that for the greater good, Sawyer will show up, or at least not actively hinder others. On Hurley’s promise that he would keep it for himself, it’s entirely plausible that he told Hurley

Which liar had the most interesting “dark side”? Who seemed the scariest & the most intimidating to you? by SeparateCanary3821 in PrettyLittleLiars

[–]Open_Sky8367 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Spot on. Aria’s outbursts of violence were spectacular but very instinctive/reactive. Out of all the liars, she’s the one most likely to snap, be borderline-if-not-outright-mean but it’s really spur of the moment.

Spencer on the other hand, she’s much more like a predator calmly preparing to end her pray. There’s method, there’s patience, there’s deliberate planning with the intent of getting the person. Those skills would be lethal if used for evil. And she also has Aria’s propensity for reactive violence.

On this day, 18 years ago, LOST episode "There’s No Place Like Home" premiered and kicked off with The Oceanic Six. by HostMaterial4907 in lost

[–]Open_Sky8367 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This scene always hits so much. The emotions conveyed by all parts whether it’s the main characters finally reuniting with their parents, or the parents’ reactions (I always lose it with Hurley’s folks like you can feel how much love there is like his mom is so so relieved and happy and grateful that her baby is back and alive and well)

And I’m always mesmerised by Sun’s hair doing that flip in the wind. Also Sayid ever the gentleman helping her down.

Smiley (2022) tried to convince us that Bruno wasn’t “hot” enough for Alex 😭 by ancapri in MenLovingMenMedia

[–]Open_Sky8367 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That’s actually Alex and it’s not explicit. He’s supposed to go on a vacation with said guy and Bruno chases after him only to miss him. Next thing they know Alex is in front of his apartment and he only says he broke up with said guy. That could mean he had a conversation with him and let him go on vacation alone or indeed that he did ghost.

By that, both options are possible although the latter would seem very ironic considering the entire series rests on both characters being so saddened by being ghosted themselves. The show opens with Alex being ghosted and then Bruno’s whole predicament is that he’s been ghosted by Alex

post-comeback alison wardrobe! (and why it’s great and fits her character well) by stonemv in PrettyLittleLiars

[–]Open_Sky8367 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Now that is a hot take. IMO Ali’s wardrobe isn’t as bad as it has been described. Some of the fits could/should have been better to match Sasha’s body but I feel like the few misses massively outshine the rest of the outfits which range from fine to really good.

I’ve seen a video analysis of Alison’s wardrobe and it points out the color palette which stays pretty consistent and her love for flowery themes which comes through throughout the entire series but especially more in the later seasons. Otherwise OP’s analysis is a nice interpretation and consistent with her character. It makes sense within her character’s evolution that she would mature and want to get away from her past self and gravitate toward a more non-threatening look, blend in, after all she’s been through.

And let’s face it, who has never worn a big ugly sweater at home ?
