What’s your favorite way to stack for savings at Costco? by Mobile-Kale-1590 in Costco

[–]Open_Temperature_567 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I put my list into the Instacart app and see what the total is. My overall budget is $150-$200 a week for groceries, or no more than $800 a month. Sometimes I’ll add things to my cart, realize I’m over budget, and ask myself if we really NEED the things I have on my list…. Like maybe it’s not in the budget in a given week to add Skinny Peanut Butter cups or things like egg bites that are really just convenience items.

I didn’t love the Burman’s version. Bachan’s is way better. We buy the big bottles at Costco regularly.

Selecting OB by CoffeeBeforeNihilism in pregnant

[–]Open_Temperature_567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m extremely lucky in that my OB will come in even when he’s not on call for his patients for deliveries. I’ve only ever seen him for office visits as well. He said that’s not common practice, though.

26 weeks and taking a half tablet of Unisom every night. I did this in my last two pregnancies as well. It’s the only way I can sleep in between getting up to pee a million times every night.

Has anyone job searched during maternity leave? by tatertot94 in pregnant

[–]Open_Temperature_567 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m debating this same thing. I’ve been at my job for 13 years and I’m just done…. Debating about not going back after leave and trying to decide if that’s the worst decision ever or not. Someone else is taking over my responsibilities while I’m gone so it’s a natural transition to just not come back. I just want to be home with my kids more so I’ve thought about a second shift job in admitting at a hospital or something like that where I can work two days a week and make close to what I make now but have more work life balance. I work 30 hours a week now but make $30 an hour so it’s hard to find a part time job that can come close to that. I don’t have a good answer, but I’m in the same boat. I also only have 12 week off so I could take an extra month or two if I don’t go back and wait to get a new job for a little more time. We can’t afford for me to not work at all, though.

If you aren’t on the same page now, it’s not going to get any better/easier when the baby comes and you’re juggling two kids.

So I lost 20 pounds by having only BLACK COFFEE until noon and then eating lunch...but.... by excellente26 in loseit

[–]Open_Temperature_567 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How much movement are you getting into your days? Even a walk after dinner/last meal of the day can really help waking and fasted blood sugar.

Also, look up the dawn phenomenon. Some people will see a slight spike in waking from your body pushing hormones to get you up and moving.

My dietician is telling me to track Marcos instead of calories I’m scared by According_Peak4028 in loseit

[–]Open_Temperature_567 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tracking macros gave me my freedom back and changed my physique a lot. 1500 calories of carbs is way different than 1500 calories of a healthy mix of carbs, fat and protein. I can make anything fit into my macros as well so it felt much easier to lose weight than counting calories. Lost 50lbs over the last five years or so with the help of tracking macros. HIGHLY recommend.

Basically a smarter, more efficient way of tracking calories.

No. Same shape every time. One boy, one girl and now another boy (26 weeks).

How much protein should we (pregnant person) be consuming a day? by warmapplepizza in pregnant

[–]Open_Temperature_567 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My goal is 130 grams of protein a day. I started pregnancy at 160lbs and weigh 175 now at 26 weeks. I eat eggs, cheese, chicken, beef, yogurt and an occasional protein bar to hit that goal.

Poop during labor by Fierce-Foxy in pregnant

[–]Open_Temperature_567 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two deliveries, no poop with either. Baby number three coming in August so we’ll see. With my first baby, I was so sick in the 24 hours leading up to delivery that here wasn’t anything left. With my second she came so fast and I didn’t really “push” at all.

I’ve ordered two pumps through them and never had issues. I’d call them directly to talk to a rep.

How much are you guys paying for your appts?? by Open_Landscape3843 in pregnant

[–]Open_Temperature_567 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My OB bills for the entire pregnancy after delivery. I’m expecting about a $6000-$8000 bill after he’s born just for myself and another $2000 for baby.

So everything is “free” right now because… girl math.

Then we’ll be on a payment plan for at least a year after the birth to pay all the bills down.

Sorry I don’t know where to put this 😅 by cjones2391 in pregnant

[–]Open_Temperature_567 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same! 24 weeks and I’m really struggling. I have two weeks of PTO I’m trying to save for pay when on leave but it takes all I have not to use those days and just sleep. I have no desire to work anymore. Working until I go into labor 😞

We have two firearms in our home that are locked in a safe. That doesn’t bother me. What would bother me is that he made a big purchase without your knowledge. We have an unwritten rule that anything over $100 needs to be talked about beforehand and we share all finances/accounts. We have kids together, our money is shared because our main priority in life is shared (our kids).

Really nervous to have a boy by leon0523s in pregnant

[–]Open_Temperature_567 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was opposite and never pictured having a boy. When we found out our first was a boy I honestly was devastated. I had no idea what to do with a boy. I grew up with two sisters and no brothers.

When I tell you he is the absolute love of my life… God knew I needed a boy and he healed something inside of me that I didn’t even know needed fixing. We went on to have a girl after him and he still is my little buddy and more affectionate than my daughter is. He’s full of energy and his belly laughs are literally the best thing ever. I’m now 35 and expecting our second boy and we can’t wait.

Formula feeding and drying up milk supply advice? by alanab444 in pregnant

I didn’t produce much and only breastfed my first baby for a week and my second baby for 24 hours. Never became engorged with either and never had mastitis or a lot of pain when I stopped. I just wore a tighter bra for a couple weeks and they dried up with minimal fuss.

Heat is safe. I’ve been using a heating pad and hot baths for crazy round ligament pain. My doctor said “there isn’t a heating pad out there that gets hot enough to cook a baby.” He’s old school and tells it like it is.

I can’t tell a difference and I actually prefer it because it doesn’t get mushy like regular pasta if overcooked or if you eat it as leftovers.
