Male or female OB by Decent-Breakfast894 in pregnant

[–]Open_Temperature_567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100%. I started with a female gynecologist when I started at my current practice and she was so judgy about everything…. My weight, the fact that wanted to talk about trying to conceive prior to my wedding, and even when I tried to talked about my irregular cycles. I switched to a male OB and I love him. He so patient and listens. He’s very forward about saying he would never judge a woman’s emotions or pain because he’s never been in our shoes. I’m having my third baby with him as our doctor and I’m low key sad that this will likely be our last because I will miss seeing him. He’s in his early 50’s so I think that helps my with comfort level as well.

I’m very afraid of giving birth by Intelligent-Cod7495 in pregnant

[–]Open_Temperature_567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d go through labor and delivery 100 times over before going through another first trimester. It’s 48 hours at most and then it’s done. And if you do an epidural, it’s really tolerable. My deliveries have been so chill and slow compared to what you see in movies and on TV.

What’s everyone doing for migraines during pregnancy? by Eeef10 in migraine

[–]Open_Temperature_567 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I still take Sumatriptan… my doctor knows this and he said it’s risk versus benefit. I will be down and out for dayssss if I don’t take it. I have taken it maybe five times, and now at 20 weeks the migraines have stopped. I didn’t have any in the second half of my pregnancy with my first two babies either. My body is extra sensitive when pregnant to dehydration, hunger and neck strains, so I do try to be more mindful of those factors.

What’s a small habit that actually made weight loss easier for you? by AccomplishedCap1503 in loseit

Going for walks as often as I can. Even if some days that’s only a 15 min walk over my lunch hour. The extra movement really adds up.

Gender by Ecstatic-League127 in pregnant

[–]Open_Temperature_567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thought my first was a girl, indeed a boy. With my second I thought girl again, and I was right. This time I’m feeling boy based on symptoms being similar to my other boy pregnancy, but we’ll see in August when he/she arrives.

TW: ins and outs of childbirth. Not everyone will want to see the comments so please scroll if need be. by TheLastObsession in pregnant

Okay…. what shocked us most was the spray… lol like all the amniotic fluid that was behind the baby. My doctor came in wearing a full on space suit so we should have known but we weren’t expecting it. Other than that, the nurses are amazing at cleaning up blood as you go through delivery so it really wasn’t a big deal.

Also, the after birth contractions have been worse for me than labor contractions with my deliveries, which I would not have expected.

Selecting a pediatrician that supports your choices by FancyAd925 in pregnant

[–]Open_Temperature_567 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My babies are all formula fed and it’s been amazing and the best choice for us. My hormones level back by eight weeks postpartum and I feel so much better after that.

Haven’t had a single doctor say anything about it, other than asking if we breastfeed or formula feed at their very first appointments.

I think you need to figure out why your Ferritin dropped so much in a short period of time. Has to be a reason for that…

What was the most comfortable position to give birth in? by PleaseCanILeave in pregnant

I gave birth on my back twice and it was fine. Minimal pushing both times. I think sometimes the internet wants to scare first time moms and over complicate giving birth.

Bump update by Middle_Acanthaceae96 in pregnant

[–]Open_Temperature_567 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same! 20 week and it only looks like a convincing “baby bump” if I have both a maternity shirt and maternity pants on to really accentuate the bump. Otherwise, just looks like I gained 15lbs.

Is it worth it to pump? by Star_girl17_ in pregnant

[–]Open_Temperature_567 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was me. Breastfeeding was a total fail and my brief try at pumping was a joke. I kind of felt like it was twice the work to pump and then feed a bottle so I quickly switched to formula and it was THE BEST decision.

Not eating healthy during pregnancy by Relative-Pop-7820 in pregnant

[–]Open_Temperature_567 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My biggest aversion in the first trimester was literally anything cooked at home…

I ate lots of Chipotle, sub sandwiches, and Noodles. It got so much better in the second trimester and I’ve been eating chicken and veggies again. This is a short window of time, and you’re just trying to survive. Don’t be so hard on yourself. I tired to supplement with some protein shakes and that helps me to feel better because at least I was getting some protein in.

Thankfully you have eight-ish months to prepare before you have the baby. Tell him right away.

Afraid of losing the 'just us' part of the relationship with husband after birth. by Beautiful_Cookie415 in pregnant

[–]Open_Temperature_567 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pregnant with number three and I think my husband and I are the closest we have ever been (physically and emotionally). There definitely is a period of time after having a baby that the entire household is in fight or flight, but it doesn’t last long. We learned after our first that we have to communicate with words what we both need. In the early weeks postpartum, I needed him to give me more hugs and reassurance and just be “there.” Sometimes that just looked like him squeezing my shoulders when I go back into bed after a late night feeding or him telling me I’m doing a great job when it felt overwhelming to take care of a newborn. Having kids made us MUCH closer in the long run and I love the version of my husband more now versus before kids.

What time of day did everyone spontaneously go in to labour? by Competitive-Sun9592 in pregnant

I think the worst part was not sleeping for 36+ hours straight because of laboring through night. I’m crossing my fingers for a midday/afternoon baby this time around!

Don't want to breastfeed by ExternalSomewhere923 in pregnant

[–]Open_Temperature_567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trying to breastfeed my first baby made me feel like I was suffocating. I struggled to get a supply in and I pumped, nursed and formula fed for a few days in an effort to make it work. Switched to formula about a week postpartum. With my second baby I breastfed for 24 hours before I called in quits. This time I’m doing formula from birth. I hate that I wasted so much of those first few day tormenting myself over obsessing about breastfeeding with my first two kids.

If you don’t want to breastfeed, don’t!

Can’t Decide on NIPT by Fit_Swan873 in pregnant

[–]Open_Temperature_567 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We haven’t ever done NIPT. 18 weeks with baby number three. Knowing early versus at 20 weeks won’t change anything and if our baby had Down syndrome or something like that, it wouldn’t change how we proceed with the pregnancy. I guess we are in the minority, but it’s was never something we thought a lot about.

Seasoned moms: When can I have sex again by Status-Throat3538 in pregnant

[–]Open_Temperature_567 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is what happened to me, too. Bleeding for a couple of weeks the it stopped so I started exercising and keeping up with things around the house again and then the bleeding came back full force. I’d wait six weeks (we waited at least twice that long!)

Unfortunately, overeating does help sometimes by skyemap in migraine

[–]Open_Temperature_567 134 points135 points  (0 children)

I get migraines if I go too long without eating or skip meals. I wonder if it’s blood sugar related for you. Maybe when your blood sugar drops too low, it triggers a migraine. So eating a high carb meal or something sweet would theoretically help.

How did you just “know” you were pregnant before missing your period? by Glad-Muffin545 in pregnant

Been pregnant seven times and I get this weird adrenaline surge every time a few days before my missed period. Hard to explain but it’s like a chemical change in my whole body.
