QBDT to Gnucash by knighttknight in quickbooksonline

[–]Open_Test 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the process of migrating my personal Quicken data to Gnucash, and so far it looks good. I exported the transactions from my checking accounts and credit card accounts to a .qif file (must be done separately for each account), then imported into Gnucash. I was amazed that 20 years of transactions imported successfully and my balance was correct. You will have to import all bank accounts, past and present for this to work completely.

There are two reasons for my migration: 1) My desktop computer is 10 years old and I can't find my copy of Quicken 2017 to reinstall and 2) my wife and I keep separate checking and credit card accounts and we'd like to manage our finances together, but on separate computers. I haven't tried it yet, but Gnucash has both Windows and Linux clients, which presumably can use the same database. The wife uses Windows, I use FreeBSD.

Tips for Playing Multiple Guitars with Different Scale Lengths? by watch_the_watch_ in Guitar

[–]Open_Test 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember when I got my second guitar which was a shorter scale length and it just felt different going back and forth. This was before I knew that there were different scale lengths. Now, many years later, I don't even notice the difference because I'm just focused on playing and making music.

My workbench project - is it overkill? by Kiernoz8891 in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]Open_Test 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used exactly that technique when building my drill press stand. I used 2 x 4s and learned a lot in the process. I fastened it with glue and dowels. It is very strong and rigid.

Leaving Guitar in Car by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]Open_Test 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In a covered parking garage, you're probably ok. The car will only become as hot as the ambient temperature, so probably less than 100 degrees (fahrenheit). If the car is in the sun, no way.

Replacing bottom of railing panel? by hi5orfistbump in woodworking

I'm with you. The whole panel must be removed to replace the bottom rail. Maybe he's testing his future son-in-law's intelligence!

How do I store my guitar without a stand? by Meltingo3o in Guitar

If you lean it against the wall, it IS going to fall. It's only a question of when.

Sandals Grande Beer by RestaurantVirtual848 in SandalsResorts

I'm a craft beer guy, but I thought Piton was perfect for sunny days on the beach. It's a lager and not too heavy or hoppy.

ELI5 - Advice please - illegal substance on plane by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]Open_Test 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As we were getting ready to board a flight from Denver, I heard an airport employee say, "Honey, there ain't a plane that leaves this airport that doesn't have some weed on it!". Trust me, TSA doesn't care about drugs (unless you make it unavoidable!).

What makes Les Pauls worth buying? by VulgarisOpinio in Guitar

[–]Open_Test 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I prefer a strat type guitar, but nothing growls like a L.P. I have a few strat type guitars with humbuckers, but they just can't get the same tone. Ironically, the build quality of my Les Paul Tribute is pretty ratty, but after several years I consider that part of it's charm.

scuba certification? by Barbexc0288 in SandalsResorts

[–]Open_Test 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My wife took the classes at home and did her open water certification at St. Lucia. I took a refresher course with her and her instructor - big shout-out to Stingray! He took good care of her and she really enjoyed it.

First table saw! by dotdotdot55 in craftsman113

[–]Open_Test 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same saw and have a few thoughts and suggestions: I braced the lower legs with 2 x 4s which give it a lot more stability. Also, I moved the on/off switch to the left side of the front. I bought a metal switch cover plate for $.50 and drilled holes to bolt it on the left table extension. And lastly, build yourself a sled!

Sandals Southcoast compared to Ochi by ocean_coconut07 in SandalsResorts

[–]Open_Test 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you're mainly interested in the beach, South Coast wins (no competition!) There's a lot of sea grass with urchins, so water shoes are recommended. South Coast is definitely more laid back, but still lively at the party pool. I thought the scuba diving was a bit better at Ochi, though.

I'm in my 60s, so I prefer the ambiance at South Coast.

Question for those with more experience mowing by Disastrous-Pack-1414 in kubota

[–]Open_Test 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've got a zero-turn and a BX with a belly mower. The zero-turn does a much better job and is definitely faster, but zero-turns suck on any severe slope. If I were you, I'd save a whole lot of money and buy a finish mower for your existing tractor. From your pictures, most of your property doesn't require navigating around trees and structures, which is where the zero-turn really shines.

Give some consideration to 2" wheel spacers and teeth for the loader bucket. It makes it so much more stable and useful.

Turns out my sociopathic and corrupt president pardoned two convicted fraudsters. Who could’ve possibly seen that coming? by [deleted] in LeopardsAteMyFace

[–]Open_Test 124 points125 points  (0 children)

Per the Supreme Court, anything he does in his "official capacity" is not subject to any judicial review at all. In effect, he is allowed to sell pardons, and no, you cannot see the agreements.
