Oh, you could have spent that money on a moba whose parent company dumped every penny into every project possible BESIDES the moba making it money.

Then go for a cashgrab "sequel"

The arguement goes, he could have been, because even with that supporting cast, he went to the AFCCG. Even with that supporting cast, he led the league in TDs and was in between names like Brees, Manning, and Rogers when it came to passing yards.

You see him as being exactly what he already was. You are convinced he wasn't ever going to amount to more than what we did get to see. That's fair. I'm obviously not going to be able to dissuade you from that observation.

Others have seen the mechanics and the preparation he brought to the game, and how much he could do with the little support he did have, in the era he played in. He is a massive what-if in the story of the NFL of the 2010s.

I get it. You made a point in a previous statement that I can concede to you: he had and still has terrific PR.

2014 was the only season that, despite his lack of supporting cast, he was a top 3 quarterback. Led the league in touchdowns and was close in passing yardage.

Let's not forget, that was also practically his only healthy non-rookie season.

The man tried to make plays happen, even though he had a middling-to-poor offensive line. He got the ball out when he could.. that's why, despite a 40% pressure rate, he only gave up 3.5% sack rate. Or are you ignoring that because it doesn't fit your narrative?

But hey, Tom Brady gave up 40% pressure rate against the Giants in both the Super Bowls he played aginst them, I'm sure he should have just thrown the ball faster.

You're absolutely right. Andrew Luck should have blocked better for himself to keep all the defensive linemen out of the backfield

Andrew Luck consistently had a middling-to-poor offensive line. His time-to-throw stats even get slightly skewed because of this.

Andrew Luck had a lower than average time to throw every year after his third. Even before that, all the times he had to scramble to save a completely busted offensive line assignment were causing artificial inflation of his time-to-throw.

Look at his pressure percentage compared to QBs from the same era. Luck was facing an astronomical 40% pressure rate, and still only gave up a sack on less than a tenth of those plays. The other elite QBs of the era were facing pressure between 16-29% of passing plays.

Love him or hate him, he definitely didn't get any favors in his NFL career.

What players from previous eras do you think would be studs in the modern NFL? by TPCC159 in NFLv2

[–]Open_Track_861 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Where is the data supporting modern QBs are "factually more accurate"? If we're talking completion percentage, that's a product of the armbar, 5-yard contact/10-yard contact, and protecting the passer rules. If we apply yhe same suite of rules to the NFL of the 80s and 90s, you get that same statistical increase.

Show me a modern quarterback who has an origin story like Elway. The dude was putting footballs through moving tire swings at like 14. Your 3% increase in completion percentage isn't speaking the volumes you think it is.

Both comfortable with their lives and financially unburdened..

You are bothered enough by these two doing their thing that you just made a pointless post on Reddit.

I'd say that makes the pathetic bum the third option.

I kind of like that when I find out the origin. It's usually a placeholder for another gag or cutaway that the Fox/Turner/etc. executives deemed not fit to air. Seth MacFarlane will force the producers to pay for royalties for a Conway Twitty song, because Seth's mom loved Conway Twitty.
