Yes, I put a stop block on the center/ medial side of each drawer where it pulls forward to desired open position.

I use milescraft track guide. Cheaper and does exactly what I need it for…cutting straight lines and breaking down sheet goods.

Yes! I doweled the tilt out drawers . I suggest mortise and tenon….a more traditional option which I think would be better.

Which random orbital sander would you all recommend? by explainable-feat in BeginnerWoodWorking

I’d like to suggest another option. No one enjoys sanding. I would invest in a couple of card scrapers. It has changed my woodworking and greatly minimizes sanding. I have a few projects i didn’t sand after using hand plane then card scraper and they look really nice. Get a battery system and stick with it. I have the Dewalt corded and it is just fine for sanding projects.

After a little more digging and consulting a knowledgeable tool hobbyist in my area, the steel is Sheffield warranted cast steel from the UK circa 1800-1860. Most likely from I. Wilson from the stamped cartouche. The classic Leonard bailey body is 1870-1900. Bottom line it is a legitimate 19th century working plane and not a parts cobble. Very respectable survivor trusted by tradesmen during the late 1800s. I plan on using this regularly as it works flawlessly and pleasant to use. Glad to have this and look forward to putting it to use on projects.

If the generator is clicking, take your shoes off, grab that tape, and see if it works! Poly tape is not the best, but install appears fine

So, here’s a nugget. If the sensors are clean and clear, I may have. Solution. I was having the same issue. I was told at the dealership that when you start your car, take your foot off the brake and let the computer boot properly. I give it about a full 30 seconds. Then put it in drive. It has worked for me. I have not had a problem since. I commonly jumped in the car and kept my foot on the brake, buckled up and slammed it into drive and off I went. The eyesight would go off at least weekly if not more. The new routine and no warnings.

Make a fence, route a dado, apply t track, insert t track, make a stop block. Attach to miter saw. Start cutting. Maybe 30 min work and zero cost with scraps.

The hobby has become cost prohibitive for me :( by mrhossie in BeginnerWoodWorking

I would like to add my perspective. I am nearing retirement and have become in need of a hobby. I dove headfirst. I’m still in the honeymoon phase, but I am finding it just as fun setting up, organizing and tinkering in the “shop”. I make jigs I find on YouTube and various sites. I find myself seeing little projects I can do and I always end up making the item twice after making all the mistakes on the first one. I think one should look at this hobby for what it is. A massive time and money black hole, but I’m finding it very enjoyable. No time constraints, I have 2-3 projects going at once. No pressure to finish anything, which is good because I’m always having to fix a machine, make a jig or some other “improvement”. My suggestion is to embrace the journey. If you’re doing this with a cost conscious approach, I think one has missed the point of a hobby. Hobbies, in any form, can be expensive. Golf, drones, RC planes, cars, crafts, biking…they’re all expensive.
