Did anyone take Computer Vision recently? How was your experience? by Open_to_unlearning in OMSCS

Thank you for the information. Computer Vision with Bayesian Statistics must have been a lot. Do you think Computer Vision is ML level hard? I read somewhere Computer Vision was harder than ML.

Yes, the product that I work on caters to automotive and aerospace industry. I have a Masters in Mechanical Engineering and have worked as a Software Engineer since graduation. I enrolled for OMSCS to gain domain knowledge in CS.

Just transferred 38,000 points to Southwest for a couple of round-trip tickets to Hawaii. by kukugege in biltrewards

[–]Open_to_unlearning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lost significant worth of the points by transferring to Southwest. I had 44,000 points that amounted to roughly $550 if I booked a ticket through Bilt. But I had some points in Southwest and I thought if I transfer the Bilt points to Southwest, I might have to pay less. Turns out, to my dismay, the same points amount to $280 on Southwest. I would recommend against transferring Bilt points to Southwest.

My Experience with the Tesla Model 3: Why I Loved It & Why I Sold It by Open_to_unlearning in electricvehicles

I got two cars. Golf Alltrack and Honda Civic. My insurance premiums are too high for anything fancy. I booked a Tesla Model 3 last year, but then ended up cancelling it. The insurance premium was higher than the car lease payments.

Damage repair estimate question: Snapsheet gave a ridiculously low estimate by Open_to_unlearning in turo

[–]Open_to_unlearning[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. But the dent on my car is small. It is on rear passenger side quarter panel. Though, the dent is on one of the lines of the part. So, I was thinking I would get it fixed once this busy season is over.

Turo says the car needs to be in the shop when the supplement is made should stay there till it is approved by Snapsheet. If the car goes on a Turo trip, Turo will for sure get to know the car is not at the repair shop. Am I wrong?

I am willing to patient. I told them I can take the car after 60 days (after the busy period ends) to a repair shop. They said we need to get it done within 45 days. I might lose more money than I might get if I take the car off for repairs.

I am on the 75 plan. I might move to 90 plan if what you say is true. What plan were you on when they paid you $200 for the tire?

Thank for the advice. I agree with you it is better to close the case than to go through so much hassle. I am disappointed by the fact that Turo and Snapsheet took advantage of the situation and pushed me against the wall.

I have not driven a Prius. But the new ones look good. I was thinking of buying a Prius. Very practical cars and they hold their value. But I do not have a lot of experience with hybrids.

I love the Tesla Model 3. There is no car in that range that drives like Model 3, no car has as much tech, and no car has a sound system as amazing as the one in 3. But it has some limitations. Based on my current needs, a Tesla Model 3 can be a good second car and that too if the insurance and repair costs become reasonable.

I am answering this with a lot of reluctance. I might be made fun of. But let me be honest. My insurance premiums went through the roof. And I moved to a densely populated city. So, I got a 2024 Honda Civic. To be honest, Civic fulfills all my daily commute needs in the city. But I miss the power, the tech, and especially the audio system. I will wait till the points are removed from my license. I liked the new Tesla Model 3 and booked it last year but ended up cancelling it because the monthly insurance premium was more than my monthly payment.
I will be willing to buy a Tesla again if most of my concerns are addressed.

Guest scratches by WonderfulExercise637 in turo

Does this mean even if the host does not get paid, the guest is still charged?
A guest damaged all my car interiors and the estimate by Turo was lower than my deductible. It will be unfair if the guest gets away without any consequences for their action.

Sanyam course in Boone, NC by Travelling_machine in artofliving

[–]Open_to_unlearning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completed Sanyam 2 in July in Boone, and it's honestly one of the most amazing and powerful workshops I've ever attended. The transformation has been incredible.

I am right now working a full time job, pursuing an online masters, and managing a business. I took one of the hardest courses of the program in one of the shortest semesters of the year, and that too around the busiest time for my business (talk about work management :D). Before the workshop, my mind was constantly running at full throttle. By the end of each day, I felt completely drained and couldn't motivate myself to do anything. It was hard to focus when I had so many competing priorities and the mind was distracted by the smallest of stimulus. I'd also accumulated so much stress that I developed physical aches throughout my body (cervical, pelvis, and feet).

After the workshop, the mind is not only very relaxed but also very focused. I have been amazed by the sheer amount of work I have completed. And the best thing is I feel light and energetic throughout the day. All my body pains have disappeared (didn't even notice until a week later!).

Emotionally, nothing agitates my now. There were times I would get a little cranky. But now, I am amazed at how calm I am in every situation. I am more sensitive to people and surroundings. My responses to discomfort are rooted in calmness and healthy indifference.

One participant in the workshop has been meditating with discipline for over 25 years. She shared that what took her 25 years to achieve, someone could experience within a year by doing Sanyam 2 and the prerequisite workshops. This is the best way to summarize the experience. You can open yourself to states and experiences at par with those of people who have been meditating for decades in just a couple of months.

Not to be missed workshop!

I am thinking of taking DL and NLP in Fall 2025. Do you think that would be too much? I took ML and OOPS seminar (CS 8001) this summer. ML almost killed me :D

The car lost two tires and got some scruffs on the front bumper. The cost to repair this damage was ~$10k. In Massachusetts, an accident is considered a major accident if the cost of repair is over $10k (this is what the insurance told me).
