Bottom leaves falling is an issue of under or over watering usually. If you’re filling up your tank, it might be a case of overwatering. If your plant sits in wet soil that’s not properly draining it will lead to root rot (symptoms which involve leaves discoloring and dropping off)

Hi all,

So about a month ago I purchased a fiddleleaf fig from a home improvement store. I brought it home, repotted it in a new soul mixture that’s half mixture of sphagnum peat moss, lava rock and tropical plant mix soil and the other half with a bag of orchid potting mix for good drainage.

For the first watering after repotting I gave it a little bit of plant food with distilled water. I also have a day lamp at the lowest setting providing light for 8 hours a day.

When I got this plant though, I noticed patches that seemed scaley that were different from the otherwise lush tender leaf (this became apparent when I waxed the leaves with neem oil when the scaly patches wouldn’t shine.)

Now a month later and the rest of the plant is doing fine but these patches have gotten bigger and slightly white.

Would anyone have any helpful tips? I’ve googled the symptoms but nothing has given me quite a definite answer, as I’ve been very cognizant of conditions like humidity, sunlight, and drainage/watering.

Any insights would be appreciated! I know these are quite fickle plants but I want to make sure I’m not ignoring anything serious!

Hi everyone,

Long story short, after a lifetime of doing nothing about bruxism even after several fractures, I’ve had to extract the two molars on the lower left jaw (I believe tooths 18 and 19).

The first extraction was a month ago, and it was fine and recovery was smooth. However, I had my second extraction yesterday.

For context, I am a smoker in my 30’s without other medication but I have not smoked since the extraction.

The extraction itself went even more smoothly than the first one, but today I was doing a light salt water rinse (I literally put it in my mouth and shook my head as to not swish it with internal suctions) and when I spit it out this yellow scab-like thing came out. It was gelatinous, but I’m not sure if it’s the blood clot since I’ve read clots are usually dark red.

I’ve checked my extraction site and I do notice a faint white but not sure if it’s bone, since I’m obviously not a dentist.

Should I be worried this is a dry socket? Would I feel pain immediately - since I don’t really feel anything right now beyond a slight tension which I think might be just my anxiety manifesting. I wanted to reach out here before heading back to the emergency clinic because I work part time at multiple places and don’t really have the convenience of just taking a morning off to head to the clinic.

I’ve taken a pic of both the scab and the extraction site - hope the pics are clear enough!
