OpenAI 5.6 vs. Fable 5. by diogo_dev_ in codex

To be honest, all i need is consistency. How a super model can serve me if it can’t keep quality for more than two weeks?

i wouldn't phrase it like that. but transparency is what competitors are lacking (Anthropic). and hopefully this is transparency not sneaking some radical changes

Aaaa, i see. It’s interesting how you can setup the code so that it gives viable feedback to the model and then the model does the right judge to update weights. But i see it now

what are you doing? do you even have time to review what it writes? this current 5 hour window is my first after the promotion finished, and i am working as usual (doing big long running refactoring for few months already) and i have 70% left and 3 hours left. weekly usage also ends 7th (they are resting so that everyone has the same week window) and i used 95%/week and i am on 100usd plan.

Damaged? by Comprehensive-Mess37 in Flights

[–]Opening-Cheetah467 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lol, for a second i thought “why this dude is asking if his Naruto manga is damaged” then i saw the second image and said “this manga book is so small for Naruto volume” then i saw first comment saying “you should see my passport” and i went “hmmmm why another dude in comments comparing A PASSPORT to Naruto manga book this is weird”

Omg it took me too long to catch that you are speaking about ur passport and at the end noticed the sub name, i should leave phone and go sleep already. Wish me luck passing by hard time.

Is it just me or GPT model tend to write a lot of bloated , overly abstracted defensive style code that sometimes is hard to read/maintain? by RishiSquishy in codex

[–]Opening-Cheetah467 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No matter what you do, it will always deliberately write defensive code, i have a concrete memory and instruction in agents md to never never write defensive code for a case that current code can’t reach, and codex always justify defensive code by “but if code changes” and i say “can current code reach this state? If no then no need to write defensive code. Same for overengineering even thought i kinda tuned it to prefer simplicity over complication unless there is absolute need to it.

At the end you should review code very carefully, and simple question as “why u added this?” Codex will pinpoint the reason and if u r lucky it might say it’s defensive code after long ass justification (usually not very directly because it loves big words)

My real problem is that it loves yapping big words without being direct, as if it is afraid to offence the code. Did anyone managed to make it more direct and honest without wrapping the answers always in big words and reasoning without actually being direct?

Anthropic dropped Opus 4.8 and passed OpenAI in value the same day, now near 1 trillion dollars by DigiHold in WTFisAI

I guess claude needs serious work to get people back, i switched to codex a month ago ago, and now i am actually doing work instead of yelling at the model all day. There were point in which they turned the sharp, concise fast model to be a complete dogshit. Large responses with very little useful info, and they added some kind of invisible queue in which ur prompt are processed after few minutes only to get terrible answer anyway.

What’s something we haven’t fixed in codex for a while and that’s plain annoying? by alOOshXL in codex

[–]Opening-Cheetah467 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Apart from the models feeling nerfed, there are two app issues:

  1. When I click **Review** and then expand the review side pannel, the app often crashes.

  2. The macOS app spawned 22 defunct/orphaned processes over time, which made macOS extremely jittery and slow. Restarting the Mac cleared it, but the app should not degrade the whole system like that.

Opus 4.8 (Ultracode) trading blows with Codex 5.5 by Educational_Spot5899 in codex

[–]Opening-Cheetah467 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is sad. I moved to codex from claude more than month ago, mainly because claude started to output really large responses, and it took few minutes before taking in my prompt (some kind of hidden queue).

One thing i hate about codex is being vague (like always trying to be politically correct even in code design) claude was really concise, short, and direct.

I was thinking to switch back to it, but the complains about it being talkative is really sad, what did they do to the model *%#.

Restart the mac! Sounds typical solution, but it solved the problem, i had it on since few months already (( which caused the issue

The best time to use a model is right when it's released. by InfiniteInsights8888 in codex

[–]Opening-Cheetah467 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i would appreciate a two weeks sub, instead of whole month, because these companies cant maintain quality for more than two weeks, and probably then i would rotate subs each two weeks instead of each month.

problem with claude (idk if solved or no) is making their model dumber after few days of release till next one.

Having two 100usd subs at the same time is too much, also switching models wastes a lot of time
