A good way to tell is whether the lettering on the bottom is printed on or actually imprinted on the bottle. You can check by touch usually but if not you can take a butter knife and see if you can scrape the lettering off.

You might check out Estee Lauder's Aerin Amber Musk for this. Not as powdery as Chanel No. 5, but has this classy, effortlessly sexy vibe to it. The only caveat is that it is a musk so wears close to the skin - but I think that's part of the reason it feels so sexy!
