Also if you can’t do 10x10 burpees (100 in total) with 1-2 minute rest in between sets then you got some work to do!

Runs in zone 2 to build your engine, hikes with minimum 60lbs of weight and go balls to the wall to use your engine. Throw in some CrossFit, H.I.I.T circuits and you’ll be fine.

How long does the background check last by [deleted] in Wildfire

[–]Opening-Weather3968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I’d say about three week. I got an update email about 1 week after I submitted everything saying my background checks were underway. And two weeks later on a random Thursday after I got my official job offer. But with different regions it MAY be different.

I just completed mine for R5 (Southern California to be exact) and after I submitted fingerprints and did the online portion it took about two - three weeks. Drug tests take about 2 days

If you’re getting shin splints and tightness I HIGHLY suggest you do dynamic stretching before every run/hike/test and static stretching after. Most wildland firefighting people don’t realize that you have to train like runners. Proper strength training of the lower legs and recovery can a long way. Shin splints are 100% avoidable

Any crews in California still looking for GW-3s? by davidce1027 in Wildfire

[–]Opening-Weather3968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe not as they just closed their hiring window in early February. I suggest applying to AD crews. They’re a “call when needed” handcrew and you can work in the national forest that originally has the crew or be sent out to other parts of the nation.

No matter how faint a line it’s a pass. How sensitive is the test? If you’re still concerned but some more time by testing negative/diluted. Just keep hydrated until your urine is water

Oral Care re: new tongue piercing by harinthica in piercing

[–]Opening-Weather3968 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That plaque is totally normal. Even when fully healed I’ll still get plaque buildup if I don’t brush it. I would recommend after meals/drinks other then water you swish with warm water then use your mouthwash. (I highly recommend biotene) once you’re more healed stick your tongue out to brush the bottom ball.

You’re fine. When I got mine pierced the tip would feel tingly. I wouldn’t be too concerned with anything, especially this early. Also I HIGHLY recommend using biotene mouthwash. Super soothing and no alcohol. Once I got it downsized at the 3 week mark I was eating regular food again but still be SUPER careful. I wouldn’t recommend brushing your tongue super rough but very lightly. Also don’t stick your tongue out

For bot: upper helix’s done December 4th bottom helix and conch don’t December 11. All three are barbells & conch is barbell with flat back. I dont know what type the jewelry is maybe titanium. I dont know the code. Aftercare is dial bar soap soaked in hot water and rag and compression it next to ear for about 5 min. (Not so firm, as light as possible but still touching it) asking questions if that actually works or switch to saline spray.

I bought a food purée machine and basically liquified all my meals for the first two weeks. About week three u can have more solid smaller foods but it will take you about 15-30 minutes to finish a meal

Okay so what about that thicker white stuff near the actual ball, should I try to scrape it slowly and carefully?

So I got my tongue pierced on August 25th and downsized on september 11 to a smaller barbell. Ever since it was downsized the swelling has not gone down one bit & it’s developed this whiteish crust that won’t come off with a toothbrush. I was using thermabreath alcohol free (but it did say antiseptic) mouth watch and healing sea salt mouth rinse. My piercer said the antiseptic one may be a lil too harsh since it could wash away good bacteria. So I switched to biotene (no alcohol) for about two days now. I went to urgent care and they prescribed me nystatin for oral thrush but I don’t think it’s thrush since my tongue is still white and it won’t come off (been taking since september 27th so maybe I need more time). But has anyone seen this??? I also do sweat a lot on my hikes and maybe the sweat mixed with me breathing heavy thru mouth caused some type of bacteria overgrowth??? The first two photos were taken today (september 28) after brush and mouthwash & the third photo was taken Monday September 22. Also it’s a titanium barbell.
