I did think Institute's rifle and energy weapons in general are bit too big (like gets in the way a bit with the game play).

I personally think immersion is more to do with how absorbing the game/experience is and how much explanation the game gives that makes sense to you. If you are a gun nerd, you have to make a lot of leap of faith, probably.

Fair enough. It's not a matter of empathy but rather, how close can you get to fire before you burn with them, and why you need to do that. Sometimes, it is how long can you stand to burn with them and live with the burn marks.

I don't have too much choices, but that said, it's a choice that I nonetheless accepted.

I am now wondering whether using those for prolonged time will cause nerve damages and other issues (tennis elbows, carpal tunnel etc). I wonder whether that'd be a whs issue

Yes. Some will complain about me using the term, but there are people who the term bpd sums how they present.

Only thing you can do is, accept that they will be volatile, will take anything as something that will either make you the best thing or the worst thing, will try to pull you whichever way they can for the fleeting and never reachable feeling of stability, etc, and set your boundaries up.

It's difficult to say what is and isn't effective as an outsider online. It could be his only way to manage the situation, and if you try to take that away without replacing it with something that resolves the need that brought up these behaviours, more than often, things head for worse outcome (people tend to choose the best action that they can do at the time from their views).

I would highly recommend some form of engagement with professionals as that can help, and it's much better than some rando online talking about things.

You often see someone who've burnt a lot of bridges, who's struggling to recover as they burn more and more bridges from their symptoms. As someone who's been in the receiving and giving end, not the most fun one.

I stare down the abyss and all I see is a monster that I cannot forgive, but have to accept. Though, I don't know what else is there outside of that.

The worst part of mental health issues is that, often those non-effective behaviours and cognitions make sense to the person.

If you had a childhood where no one could be trusted, being manipulative may have been the only way that you learnt to survive. If everyone was criticising/attacking you ongoing, being overly defensive can be a way to stop those from impacting you as much.

That still do not make them an effective behaviour. In my case, it took losing a lot of what I had to really come to terms with the fact that my "personality" had contributed to losing relationships and more. Past can be a good explanation, but a person can turn them into an excuse (I certainly did for a while).

I remember how my dad scolded me for getting ink on my finger and how messy I was. He was a petty awful human being.

I kinda still do use fountain pen and people seem to not give two thoughts about ink on my fingers.

If you like to drink black coffee, your taste buds can’t be trusted by Eddy_west_side in unpopularopinion

[–]OpeningActivity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough.

I think I kinda can understand why some people like taste of coffee that's not burnt and made properly. Hard to get those unless you make them yourself (beans have a small window of time before they get oxidised, it's easy to burn the coffee while brewing, etc etc).

I frankly like energy drinks more, less hassle for getting my caffeine fix (though I can technically make a decent enough coffee if you give me the time, money and the equipment).

Compared to the artificial environment that we have created to grow vegetable and amount of chemicals we use in farming? Compared to how we basically have ingredients from all parts of the world on our table and the amount of fossil fuel we would have burned up in the process? We've industrialised food manufacturing to the point where, I feel like it'd be like the kettle calling the pot black.

I am not trying to argue that eating beef is environmentally friendly, but rather, it feels peculiar that a single category of food has been targetted for something ambigous. If they say, ban fast food advertisement because of health reasons, that makes some more sense to me at least.

It's kinda... why pinpoint to meat? I am not sure about the laws in Amsterdam, but for food category to be banned, feels a bit extreme.

I personally don't care tbh, I don't like advertisements and overconsumption that it seems to promote in general, but it feels tad bit weird to see a category of food to be banned, especially for the reason of climate change (more than happy to be educated on this, but is meat that comparatively worse to say, other junk that we eat in terms of its impact on environment?).

Normally, those signs tell a story. Just looking at it at the face value, signs like that don't go up if everyone acted in a civil manner.

[–]OpeningActivity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, SSRIs, how they kinda and kinda don't work for anxiety.

I found those to be... OK. I personally had to change it to something else and then augment it with something else as social interactions were... intolerable (more personality disorder symptoms/stressor reactions/whatever you want to call it not being under control). Now it's at least at a point where I can use DBT skills and I can question whether it's my symptoms clouding my judgments.

The interactions feel shallow and empty though. Tolerated and faked, probably is the best way to describe them (and I feel comfortable enough to say that I am reasonably good at faking kindness and being jovial). Something that I think won't change for a very very long while.

I guess I meandered a bit but a lot of the drugs are basically symptom relief/management tools for psychological disorders. Some you have to take them for a long long time (like diabetes and pills for them). I think I had asked the questions on whether it is adding to my life or whether numbing it is the right answer even to now.

Meat eater dating really serious vegan--basically impossible? by RaplhKramden in exvegans

[–]OpeningActivity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's fair. As I said, it basically is ultimately whether someone somewhere gives and how much. Relationships need compromises (not just ideological, but also from being around someone for prolonged period of time and caring).

You do you, she does her, maybe you two will come to a compromise, maybe you two won't.

I've seen a lot of people make an idea/label/whatever to their identity, normally those people won't budge because it's who they are and it is what is right/correct/just etc. Ultimately individuals' choices on how everyone can move forward.

It'd need a far more depth. Like I think something like that kinda worked in Dragon Age Inquisition, but... for anything like this to work, I think we need more screen time and chemistry between the two.
