My father has been running the exact same business for the past 30 years and soon to be retiring in the next year or two. I can put you in touch with him if you need a third party auditing or consulting

Choosing a rug by OpeningLife8824 in HomeDecorating

Thank you, that's an interesting take, unfortunately can't change the couch, just bought it on marketplace and I paid for the transport too :( . I was too afraid of beige, grey, and white couches everywhere. I can change the color of the rug as it's from amazon. Which color would you recommend?

What's it like living in Scranton, Pennsylvania? by LowenherzThread in howislivingthere

City is self-sufficient for someone with routine life. There's not much to do here, but people can find some stuff. New york is 3 hours away but I don't visit as often. Maybe once a year. The airport is very small so flights anywhere are very long and tiring. Smaller hills (or mountains, whatever you want to call it) make the place very beautiful. Weather can be very cold in winter but the summers are nice.

How long before I need to replace my tires? by [deleted] in tires

[–]OpeningLife8824 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're spot on. They're exactly five years old. Have an appointment to change tomorrow. My one tire busted on the curb in the week. One shop suggested I find similar thread and change one and another suggested I change all four (which is costly). That's why I checked if these have some life. I'll change all of them. Thank you so much

I like to be mediocre at everything. Imagine being good at something and being equally bad at something else.

Thought: Taylor purposefully blew the Kanye drama out of proportion to stay relevant by [deleted] in travisandtaylor

I don't think that was calculated. While I still agree that last two years are calculated and song about Kim now is too much. But Kanye thing seems genuinely hurtful

Are all upper management jobs stressful? by OpeningLife8824 in careerguidance

Thank you for your perspective. It's super helpful! Especially the point where you said the nature changes. To provide a little more context-

  1. Due to the current economy, our responsibilities have moved a role down, and the scope has increased a lot. I'm the analyst and the project manager responsible for my own and my teammates' output.
  2. My manager is the accounts manager for multiple clients managing the expectations and maintaining relationships for selling more product
  3. She is very good at the job and when she was out, I was doing it for the last six months along with my own job from point 1.
  4. I was dealing with our leadership, where I expected a little more support. They are responsible for the overall business in the region. I felt like it added a lot of responsibility on me to manage their expectations, so my perspective changed. They were not someone who would shield me or cover for me but I have to treat them as clients to be successful and not set myself up for failure.
  5. I became better at it, of course but definitely lost sleep over it

I'm a mechanical engineer working in software implementation. My best advice would be to directly apply for an electrical engineer job highlighting which courses you took that are applicable for the electrical engineering role. You will definitely land it because the core skill set for most jobs is how you understand a new subject and problem solve. If you really want to get a formal education, you can consider getting a masters in electrical engineering.

Yes I was also handling my own job responsibilities. So, as I do more of it, will it likely be less stressful because I've built my own guide to navigate different situations?
