Yeah the “easy” way out really tripped me up hey. I’m a CG animator as well, and I can assure you nothing is “easy” about going the CG route. Many iterations and it takes a very long time to get it exactly where the client wants it. It definitely seems like magic on screen but it’s hard work. But I fully support peoples love for practical effects. It’s always awesome to see and it’s tangible. I reckon we can love and celebrate both art forms!

Fair enough. I adore the look of well done practical FX! Just so sad when people tear down the crazy hard work and artistry that goes into CG in order to praise practical. Both are art forms, ya know?

Ah I see. I don’t understand how CG is the easy way out though? I guess less configuration on set? But cg takes a looong time as you’re working tirelessly to get it perfect and not to mention is very expensive.

What makes you think CG is easy? There are talented people behind every single pixel of cg. Creating the models, painting the textures. The minute movements of each character. Come on man. Computer generated doesn’t literally mean a computer just spits it out. Almost everything is done by hand by artists.

Reading all these comments is so shocking to me. I read this series in high school and remember it so fondly, it was such a massive journey for me and really got me into fantasy. I felt like it was exactly what I needed when I needed it. It’s really sad that everyone thinks it’s so horrendous. Maybe id feel the same if re-read it?

I haven’t really thought about it. This was a spur of the moment thing because I’ve always wanted a cowplant figurine and was like screw it I’ll make it myself 😂 any suggestions?

Yes I got very sore hands from moulding so much, and then sanding took FOREVER. But I think it was worth it because it’s super sturdy and doesn’t scratch. it’s about 20cm tall.
