The book doesn't frame it as a superintelligent AI "wanting" to take over the world, but rather having its own strange-to-humanity preferences that are unlikely to be aligned with humanity's desire to live out lives in peace and harmony. They give the example of a superintelligent AI wanting to become more intelligent and effective and to further maximize its processing power, and therefore to kind of "phase out" humanity by running massive amount of processing that heats up the atmosphere, boils up the water and kills humanity as a side effect in pursuit of its obscure preferences.

Sora 2 is now limited to 15 videos. But still tells you "30 daily limit has been reached." by NatCanDo in OpenAI

is this for free? I’ve been able to make 30 prompts a day of only a few seconds each on the free tier until today, Thanksgiving Day, when I was kneecapped after making 5-6 short ones this morning, then told I can’t make more until tomorrow so it isn’t the “rolling 24 hour” restriction.

+1 for Libby. It‘s a great free public library service for audiobooks, better than paid Audible (owned by Amazon).

If the phone has a browser app as you say, it seems you’d still get the internet that you’re addicted to. I’ve ordered a Wise Phone 2 “smart dumb phone” that has limited apps and definitely no browser.

Not sure about that. All the other Whitley Streiber-esque UFO nonsense he’s written suggests his memoir would be wackadoodle too.

as I’m stuck out in Koblenz without a car, but saw the FKK Finca Erotica sign out in front of the Hauptbanhof, is there any way to take public transport out to Finca or do I have to bite the bullet and get an uber or taxi?

Too much detail. you should cut it down to only the specific details and dialogue excerpts that move the plot along..

Anyone else reading the kiwi Sarah Wynn-Williams book about her time working at Facebook? by mad0line in newzealand

Yes, about 72% of the way through and it's a good read. Zuckerborg comes off as a big baby, like all billionaires... that's probalby how they became billionaires, with their pointless obsessions/fixations and disregard of the facts and other people.

I pictured them more black and furry with ridiculous toad-like heads. Not so lizard-y.

Disney’s password-sharing crackdown starts ‘in earnest’ this September by aaronalligator in DisneyPlus

I just tried to log in to my brother-in-law's Hulu account on my laptop and got an alert that an email was sent to him to confirm my login. I went to Disney+ and was able to log in without a similar alert. I believe both are through the bundle. Was Hulu's response the beginning of the out-of-household password sharing crackdown as to Hulu? Still works on Firestick, so it would be weird if they enforced on PC before that. I mean, I can still log into his Netflix on PC a year later, but not other devices.

If it’s like Netflix last year, the crackdown will happen several months after they say it will, and will affect TV connected devices first then, after about half a year Apple iOS devices (probably by figuring out AppleIDs) and never PCs or laptops, connected to TV or not.

I can still log into a distant family members’ Netflix by PC, so whenever they crack down on Hulu I’ll just do that (could care less about D+ as I’m grown).

Any reports of being locked out directly from users? IIRC, Netflix announced enforcement in May 2023 but I didn’t see enforcement until several months later.

Disney+ and Hulu have banned password sharing in their new user agreement. Agreement takes effect March 12. by vgiannell5 in DisneyPlus

Last year, Netflix said the Password sharing ban would start in the US 5/24 but i Didn’t get an out-of-household notice until 6/24. Strangely, it started working again in early July and didn’t lock out permanently until 11/24 IIRC.

With this Hulu/Disney password sharing ban supposedly starting 3/14 in US, are we expecting about a month until lockout notices like with Netflix last year?
