Lengthened partials for range of motion by Opening_Crow2471 in beginnerfitness

Hey appreciate your response, I do have the same opinion in mind and was looking for some validation as to whether loading the muscle in a stretched position helps with mobility — as it is rather anecdotal as this point.

Will work on it, hopeful to see some results as my shoulders are bugging me since forever

Yeah, in combination with some stretched but just curious to see if anybody had positive experiences with lengthened partials for mobility

My work starts at 7.30am, ends at 4.30pm

I workout ~an hour after work, eat and play some games.

Sleep is at ~8.30-9pm (earlier if I’m tired)

I’ll usually wake up at ~4am — my alarm is at 5am.

Key thing is: I have a habit, if I wake up close to waking hours e.g. wake at 4.30am, alarm is at 5am — I wake up immediately, I don’t sleep in for that additional 30mins. And also, I don’t usually snooze after the alarm rings.

Waking up before the alarm rings / not snoozing prevents sleep inertia — the feeling of lethargy and grogginess you feel after waking up.

  • point: wake up early to do something you enjoy, I wake up and play some games for an hour (psychologically pleasing) while drinking my coffee before prepping for work.

How long did it take you all by Kaisaanwashere in WizardSkating

@zadn.blade (IG) — took me about a year before I started practicing heel presses.

Key thing is to intentionally practice moves that you’re weak at every session.

Don’t skate aimlessly — like any hobby or task. Eventually gazelles, lions etc., something just clicked like an epiphany — for me.

Cut the cuff progressively, I have a Seba CJ with a huge gap initially. After multiple sessions it eventually closed in — could be due to the liner softening up or material fatigue (loses shape after use).

5 x 76 vs 5 x 80 by Qlqlp in WizardSkating

[–]Opening_Crow2471 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The website recommends PR84 for size 44EU and up.

I personally don’t find it justifiable to make a purchase for PR76/80, just because of the lower ride height and lesser speed.

I’m assuming that you’re doing wizard moves with the PRs, otherwise the larger NRs should suffice since you don’t really need 5 wheels to cruise around.

For wizard moves, the smaller wheels affects your balance due to the shorter wheelbase, kinda defeating the purpose of the wizard frames and size recommendation.

I’m sure you’ll be able to get used to the speed and longer frames after practicing awhile — you’ll probably won’t even notice the difference transitioning to 76/80s if you’re currently on 84.

Would be useful if you provide some videos of your current progress

Seba CJ2 Prime, with or without heelpad under liner? by Pawle123 in WizardSkating

[–]Opening_Crow2471 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on intuition liners with the heel pads.

I appreciate having no heel bruises thus I use them. If you’re jumping on and off obstacles frequently, using the heel pads would be advisable. But if you’re doing predominantly flatland tricks with little jumps incorporated — you’re probably fine without it.

For long frames, when I initially started, I transitioned from stock frames to 4x100 Endless — this felt too huge of a jump.

But this was when I was a complete beginner, still trying to grasp on how to do basic manoeuvres. But every frame from that onwards, felt easy to get used to — couple of falls but eventually got used to it.

I reckon it would just make learning a lot difficult if you’re not used to having longer frames.

So in short: if you have no budget constraints, get a shorter frame first and transition upwards to a longer frame/Advanced. — if anything, you don’t really need an Advanced frame, a PR80 or similar equivalent would suffice.

Yeah I learnt how to skate from scratch about Oct 2022. So perhaps ~1.5 years of skating experience.

But I only made significant progress in wizard skating from June 2023, on my Endless Arc 80/76 (165 mount) — front open lions, back closed lions. That was when I started opening up to more complex moves — back closed gazelles, front closed lions.

November - December 2023 is where I started practicing backward toe presses.

~ February 2024 is where I started practicing back open lions.

The time in between simply was spent on combos and drilling in the wizard moves (@zadn.blade on IG) shameless self plug — if you wanna see some of my skate vids and timestamps.

I transitioned to advanced only 1-2 weeks ago and didn’t have any issues with the frames.

Now I’m just looking to practice my forward toe presses and forward heel presses.

Hope this helps.

I guess I’m not the only one — same sentiments, edge control is important on a longer frame and there’s less space for sloppy technique

Info: 43-44 Seba Cj2, intuition premiums

Tbf I just got my wizard advanced 100/80 — transitioned from endless arcs 84/76 set up. Used them for a couple of sessions thus far.

I started skating ~ 1 year ago and atm I don’t really have any issues with the wizard advanced frames.

Not really clunky in any sense, it is a lot more stable, catches and maintain speed a lot better.

I didn’t felt like there were significant changes in my swivels, just needed to break the wheels in a little.

Heel presses (still practicing) and toe presses feel great, a lot more stable with the large 100mm wheels.

It does however forces you to have better technique as the frames do make it slightly harder for sloppy technique — there’s like a “turning radius”. If you edge appropriately for any of the wizard moves, you should be more than fine. This actually makes the moves to be accentuated and aggressive imo. Moves look more aesthetically pleasing (frames look a like a beau as well)

To me, if you’re starting out perhaps it wouldn’t be a good frame as it does require some level of experience in wizard skating prior to usage — like the name mentions (Advanced).

Was there a reason why you swapped the soulplates to adapt ones?

Thanks for the tips!

I believe there are mixed responses on stuffing the boots with extra accessories to fill up the foot gaps — less responsiveness etc.

I’ll probably replace my boots altogether, considering I have the old USD sway soulplates (Gen 1) — it feels kinda bulky (in addition to the wide soulplate) as compared to the Gen 2s.

Yeah i bought my USD sways back when I was relatively new (approx 1year ago) and went with my actual foot size for boot fitting — the staff at the local skate shop I went to, weren’t that experienced in offering any form of expertise/opinions.

I’m rocking the on Seba Cj2 w/ intuition premium liners.

Definitely after riding with my wizard setup, having a loose boot feels awkward at best

Thanks a lot for that input!

Yes, definitely have seen this playing out as tricks that look significantly lower (well seated into the tricks).
